Christmas Lamp Post Greeting Card

Hello there friend and crafty peeps! Ginny here to share a fun and festive greeting card created with some gorgeous chippies from Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts.

For some reason lamp posts with light glowing makes the winter chill seem a bit warmer.  It's just a beacon you can see even in the midst of a snow storm.

I'm fairly certain GSL designed this lamp post just for me as it fits a greeting card so perfectly!

I've also layered in a window frame that helps the narrow lamp post fill in the visual space and become a more prominent focal point. 

Beautiful snowflakes help to create a wintry scene. They're topped with gold sequins to coordinate with the ribbon trim and paper inside the lanterns.

Last but not least a pretty little flower arrangement to finish off this vintagy holiday card.

I wiped down the chippies to prepare them for altering.  I did clip off a small section of the bottom to ensure a perfect fit.

The lamp post is finished with black embossing powder and heat set for a glossy effect. The window frame and snowflakes have a layer of white embossing powder and the snowflakes have an additional layer of glittery finish.

Wintery Christmas Theater

It's time (at least for me) to think about Christmas. Being a person that much prefers chilly weather, I love winter. It is beautiful nearly all the time and there's nothing like the feeling of a snowy day, a hot pot of soup on the stove and a real fire in the fireplace.
It's also the time of year when I feel the most creative and am more productive than any other time of year.
So hooray, and salutations to all the winter loving folks out there.
And let's talk holidays.
Love winter holidays. Christmas is a favorite partly because it gives me license to be extravagant, to celebrate a winter world with sparkle, color and cheer.
And now speaking of cheer, here is a vivid pink Christmas Theater!
Not a traditional wintery color, but festive nonetheless.
Here is the theater, stage set and ready for whatever story one would like to tell.

Below, I chose to fill the stage with a winter scene of house sparkling with lights and snowy window sills. Surrounded by bottle brush trees.

Here's how it began.....

I dry fit the pieces of the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Stage. 
I took them apart and cut and glued the papers I chose in place. The papers I used were all Bo Bunny from the Christmas Village Collection or the Double Dot Vintage line in Pink Punch.
I inked the edges of all the pieces and also inked in some 'folds' in the curtains by smoodging (my own word) ink on with my finger and a Qtip in places where I imagined shadows would be.

I glued the stage together and set it aside to dry.
I painted white snowflakes from both the Snowflake Shape Set and the Snowflake Shape Set Minis.
I did the same with the Pine Tree Shape Set.
Set them aside to dry.
I cut houses from the Christmas Village paper, added glitter to all the wee lights (I used lots of different Stickles glitter for that and White Lace Stickles for the snowy window ledges) and let them dry.
After they dried, I cut and scored pieces of card stock and glued them on the back of each house.

I used Stickles Diamond to glitter up all the snow flakes and trees, glued bits of cork painted white to the backs of the trees in various depths (only the trees I used inside the stage to give some depth) and did the same to the snowflakes I used in the stage.
I glued in all my bits, and added some extra details (cut and glittered) from the Christmas Village paper.

And the stage is ready to go!

Snowflake Shawdow box

Hi and welcome to the blog today. It's Teresa here and I am sharing a gorgeous wintery shadowbox frame that I did for my daughter and her new husband.  He actually proposed to her high up on a snowy mountain last year so I thought this would be a nice gift to give them for their anniversary this year and to remind them of that very special day that started it all for them.

1. So to make this project you will start with the Deco Front Shadowbox.  I took apart all the pieces and wiped around the edges to clean them up and then started to glue it together.

2. Glue the sides to the base first and then let it dry.

3. Then glue on the top frame and let it dry too.

4. Then I painted the box inside with silver paint inside and on the back.  For the top of the frame I used a blue ink that matched my papers and let it dry. ( Using inks to stain the pieces keeps the edges cleaner and then you don't have any drips.)  Then I used a little chalk ink and just barely touched around the edges to first darken it and then add white to make it look like snow. ( See below)

5.  Then I added papers from the Kaisercraft Frosted collection to create a base for my picture inside the shawdowbox.  The 6x6 paper pad comes with borders and stickers so it was easy to create a simple design for the inside bottom of the frame.

6.  The snowflakes are from the Snowflake Shape Set and these I kept in the brown color to make it a little more rugged looking and not so girly.  The snowflakes in the set are beautiful and you can add little rhinestones like I did to make them pop more.

7.  And to finish it I added some adhesive letters from Ruby Rock-it and a few little word tags to add a little more wow to it.  Oh and the arrow is also from GSLC and there is a whole bunch of them in that set too so it's perfect to add to all of your other projects.

This was such a fun and easy project to make and these are great boxes to make up for gifts for the holidays too.  Imagine how fun for a wedding, a new baby or even for those special christmas memories you want to save.

Silver Reindeer Blue Christmas Greeting Card by Ginny

Happy Sunday, Paper Peeps! Hope you are having a fabulous week. I'm just dropping in to share a traditionally styled Christmas card with a non-traditional color scheme.  I'm using my Gypsy Soul laser Cut chippies as the frame and focal image for this lovely wintery card and I'm just thrilled with how it turned out.

Pretty patterned papers and large dimensional flowers are the perfect accent to the altered chipboard pieces. 

Here's how I created the card....

I selected the chipboard I wanted to use by first fitting them together to make sure they all  worked to create a nice arrangement.

Using an embossing dabber and a variety of powders I was able to create lovely finishes on the chippies quickly so I could keep on working and not wait for wet paint to dry.  Silver for the Flourished Deer,  Bridal Tinsel for the Snowflake, and Weathered Wood for the Flourish Frame Evie. Of course these had to be  set with the heat tool before continuing.



I created a 6x6 card base with blue cardstock then layered on patterned papers all well inked and separated with solid borders.

With chipboard spacers I attached the center section and topped it off with a die cut doily, additional patterned paper cut into a circle and topped off with the frame.

I finished the card with Deer and accented him with the flowers, ribbon trim, sparkly branches and of course the altered snowflakes.

Sleigh Ride

Hello friends! Debbie with you today sharing a December layout I created with winter and Christmas in mind.  There is nothing better than a romantic sleigh ride at Christmas time.  So many mountain towns and cities where I live give sleigh rides around Christmastime.  I embellished this layout with the Snowflake Shape Set and the beautiful Horse and Carriage Laser Cuts.

The steps I took to alter the snowflakes are as follows.

1. Paint the snowflakes with Pearl White acrylic paint
2. Spray with Glimmer Mist with a dark blue mist
3. Add a gem to the center
4. Rub with silver metallic rub

I wanted to give the Horse and Carriage the look of a silhouette so I simply painted it black and then rubbed it with silver metallic rub.

Winter Butterfly by Barb

About the only thing I miss in the Winter is seeing butterflies flitting around outside. So, in my fantasy world, there would be winter butterflies and they would look a lot like this. They would shimmer with beautiful iridescence and have all manner of sparkling bits on them that would twinkle in the Winter sun.

To create this Winter Butterfly, I began with a blank paper pulp butterfly mask that I had in my stash of craft stuff. I very lightly sponged on Silks Acrylic Glaze in Mediterranean Blue. Using a stencil and a heavier dose of the same paint, I sponged on snowflakes and then set it aside to dry thoroughly.

For the snowflakes, I cut pieces from the Snowflake Border and chose a few pieces from the Snowflake Shape Set as well. These I coated with white craft ink and while they were still wet, sprinkled on Frantage Shabby Blue embossing powder which I then heat set.

By the time I was done, my mask was dry enough to glue on the finished snowflakes. I added a little more bling using various rhinestones from my craft stuff stash.

To bring it all together and finish it off, I chose one of the snowflakes from the Snowflake Shape Set, slathered it with glue and dunked it in glitter. Then I glued a rhinestone to the center, and with that, my mask was complete.

A Very Vintage Christmas Ornament

Hi everyone!  Happy Thanksgiving!  I hope you all are enjoying your holiday and time with family and friends. Barbara here with a pretty quick and easy Christmas ornament using a recycled tuna can and some Gina's Designs Lasercuts chippies to make it extra special. Don't forget, we will be changing our name to Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts December 1!

Cut away Santa's sleigh and one reindeer from the border. Save remaining border for another project.

Use Intense blocks and water brush to color Santa, his sleigh, and reindeer.

Add glitter glue to the sleigh and reindeer antlers and nose. Use silver pearl pen to add a metallic look to the bottom of the sleigh.  Set aside to dry.

Cut two circles, one larger than the printed circle, to fit inside the tuna can.

Adhere the two circles together and glue to the inside bottom of the can.

Add a bit of snowflake paste to the bottom of the can, just beneath the printed scene.

Coat bottom and part of sides with white gesso to prepare it to accept paint.  Use an awl to punch a hole in the top of the can to insert a dyed to match piece of ribbon for hanging.  (See photo of finished ornament above).

Mix the Radiant Gels together with some clear glaze medium, paint bottom and sides of can.  Paint smallest circle from the Fanciful Elements set with the same color mixture. as well as two small snowflakes.  Splatter white paint over the back of the can and the circular frame.

Distress the edges of the circular frame and snowflakes with the brown ink pad.  Stack the two snowflakes and add a small metal embellishment and diamond gem to the center of the snowflake.

 

Paint the lace border with white gesso and while wet, sprinkle stardust glitter over it.

Cut a coordinating strip of paper from the Christmas paper collection and glue around side of can.   Adhere the lace border around the sides, aligning it with the upper lip of the can.

Run of line of glue around top lip of can and adhere the circular frame.  Then adhere Santa's sleigh and reindeer, above the scene inside the can.
