Easter Flower Cart

Hi folks its Angela here with you today with an Easter project.

I laid out the pieces of the Flower Cart to wipe them off (being laser cut you can get a little black sometimes as the laser burns through the material and causes soot)

This step also helps you to determine which bit goes where. I then painted all the pieces with Mowed Lawn distress paint.

 

Once painted I assembled to cart - ensuring the side pieces were in the correct way round, this picture shows the side piece with the handle off to the right.

Once assembled I touched up the bits where the tabs were with a paint brush.

I then chose which flowers I was going to use from the Flower Stackers (yours will come shipped as a sheet and it is easier to paint them before taking them out) I used several different distress paints to paint them, no need for gesso as the paint covers nicely.

I used the largest eggs from the Easter Egg set and applied Gesso to these as I wanted to paint them with lighter coloured Silk paints so I needed a white undercoat. Once covered I used a pokey tool to get the Gesso and paint out of the holes in the pattern on the eggs.

I glued the eggs onto plastic eggs as I want to put something inside them for Easter. The flowers are glued onto coffee stirrers (from a well known establishment) that I painted with the mowed lawn distress paint. I shaped the flowers slightly before gluing them together to give them a bit of dimension. I used a really dense foam block in the bottom of the cart to put my flower "stems" into and then I covered this with shredded crepe paper so you don't see the ugly foam.

A great way to start off the new year! A fun, easy project that looks great and declares your love of art to the universe.
Or maybe just to your cat.
No matter, let it bring a smile to your face each time you look at your project!

I started out with the Banner Builder Dovetail Set. It comes in a set of four, so you will need two sets.
I painted the back scalloped edge pieces black, front and back.
I used one of the top pieces as a template and cut all of my background papers.

I painted the Flower Stackers and the One Inch Scallop Punch Elements white.
I actually used three sets of the Flower Stackers because I wanted eight large flowers for the tops of my banner pieces, but you can use any size flowers you choose.

I glued the background papers to the top layer of the banner pieces and set them aside to dry.
I then glued them on to the scalloped black painted bottom layer of the banner pieces.
Next, I cut a green sheet of scrapbook paper into seven 2 3/4 inch squares and a creamy yellow sheet into seven squares that measured 2 inches.
I played around with some lettering on graph paper and then hand-lettered each yellow 2 inch square with A R T G I R L.....

 After they dried, I glued them on to the green 2 3/4 inch squares, let them dry and then attached them to the banner pieces, making sure each one is centered consistently with the others.
When all was dry, I stacked and glued my flowers on at the top center of each banner piece.
I cut out lots of butterflies and a couple of bugs and attached them to each piece as I saw fit.
I added white paint dot around the edge of the black scalloped pieces and around the lettering to make it pop.
And of course, a little bit of glitter....

A little hot glue attaches the velvet ribbon to the back and it's ready to go!

My little garden

Hi every one, Heather here again today finishing the post that I started on Dec. 31st. 2017 It is strange how when you begin something you have an idea in your head as to what it will be, but when  you leave it and go back to finish it, sometimes you change your mind and decide on a different end product.
This is how I left my project on December31st., with a base,and things lying all over it,  and a fence around the sides and top

When I came back to the project, I looked at it and changed my mind about what to try and do so

I decided  to try and make my project look something like the garden that I would like to have, not the one I was trying to make look good.

 Instead of using the Ivy as a corner I decided it would look nice intertwined with the fence with small flowers from my stash all around too

The wheelbarrow I coloured with Creative Expressions gilding polish then used the "stems" of my small flowers and bulbs as twigs coming out of the top of the wheelbarrow. Every garden needs a wheelbarrow doesn't it?

I made up a small arrangement of flowers and buds that I already had and put those at the bottom of the tree which I had placed in the corner of my garden.

The gslcuts flowers went to make another flower border.

Then I made  up some flowers using dies to cut them and putting these along the top to make the last flower border finished my garden.

I nearly forgot the gslcuts bird which I sat on the fence amongst the ivy.

This is a very easy project to make so I hope you will have a go and do your own garden, and don't forget just because something is sold, maybe as  a corner, it doesn;t have to be used for that purpose, e.g. the Ivy corner I cut up and decorated the fence with, and the little bird was part of a frame but I cut it off and sat it on the fence.

Getting ready for Spring in the garden

Hi everyone, Heather here today,  I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas, and that you have a very happy and prosperous New Year. Talking about New Year it will soon be time to start thinking about sorting out the garden. I don't know about you but my garden always looks miserable just before Spring, I start looking for the snowdrops to appear, then all the yellow flowers like crocuses, daffodils and primroses, then I know that Spring is around the corner and my garden will brighten up. I thought that I would make a card to remind me that I need to get started in the garden so that it will begin to look better ready for Spring and Summer. Below are just some of the items that I used from my Gslcuts stash, which is nowhere near the thousands of products that are on the store. Go and have a look yourself, you will be amazed at all the items you can find to enable you to make your own artwork. Sorry I had put gesso on the wheelbarrow and some of the Ivy before I remembered that I had to take a photo, so this is a before and after picture. The wheelbarrow I coloured with Creative expressions gilding polish as I did with the Ivy.

The stackable flowers and the picket fence I decided to cover in paper  so I glued the paper onto the shape then cut round it.( I used small scissors but a sharp craft knife is just as good)purely because they are easy to cut out and cover, and it makes the item a bit more interesting, the little tree  I had already painted with Gesso then  coloured that with creative expressions gilding polish

I found this lovely Bo Bunny paper on my stash of digital papers it is from the Bo Bunny Country garden collection, and is packets of seeds, which I thought was appropriate

Below is a picture of the tree, flowers and some rose leaves that were in my GSL box that I thought would look good as well. The rose leaves were also painted with Gesso and covered in Gilding polish

The flowers are just covered in different patterned paper, stacked together with glue in the middle then a brad put through all the layers which also helps to keep them together.

Now you need inspiration as to how to put the articles you have chosen together to form your project

Happy Birthday to you...

Hi and welcome to the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts blog today.  I have a fun and easy project to share with all of you using some of our large tags and the Birthday Shape set.  Grab a cup of coffee and join me to see how I did these fun to make tags with simple inks and embossing powders.

To begin this project you will need a set of the large chipboard tags, the birthday shape set and a few of the flower stackers that you see above.  Before I start all my projects that I  do,  I like to lay out all my pieces so that I can see what colors that I need and get an idea of what other papers and goodies I can use.  This is the fun part and you can use lots of those things in your stash too.

I picked this cute plaid paper from MFT for the base of my tags and traced around each of the them and glued them to the front and backs.  After they were dry I sanded around each of them with a file to get rid of any uneven edges. Then I punched the hole at the top of each for ribbons later.

Then I got out some of my favorite inks and dabbed them on the top of each of the pieces and then embossed it with clear or white embossing powder to set the inks.

For the presents I wanted to create a more watercolor effect so I dabbed on the inks into each area of the presents and the bows to color them and shade them.  Then I embossed with clear powder.  

I love that this piece has a window that goes over it... It makes it look like stained glass.

I also inked around the edges of the tags to make them a bit more vintage and match the chipboard.

And lastly--after I inked all my pieces and let them dry I glued them onto the tags and added a Happy Birthday stamp, ribbons and glitter to each of them.  It was super fun to try something new with the inks and now I have pretty tags to add to my birthday bags when I need them.

Remembering my mom....

Hello, it's Teresa here today to share a project I did with some fun Butterfly and flower laser cuts from my GSLC stash.  I wanted to create a pretty box to keep some of the special things I got from my mom this past year and I really had a lot of fun with the pieces this time trying something new.

So to begin making this project I started with papers from Graphic 45 and covered the chipboard box really simply with layers of the papers like you see above.  I used a double sided tape for mine but a good glue stick will work well too.  I love Pioneer personally, it doesn't leave any bubbles and i love that.

Then I used clear light green ink and inked 1/2 of all of the flowers I picked out from the "Flower Stackers" set.  I used a fun metal melt embossing powder over it and they came out really pretty and textured.

I also did the same with the "Scribble frame butterfly".  I used a lighter shade for the wreath and then a deeper and richer version of the same for the other butterfly to make it stand out.  You can see it really good on the photo below.  Be sure if you do these and use a heat tool, it's best to hold it with tweezers while you heat it so that it doesn't burn your fingers.  

Some of the flowers I just chalk inked in white and then added a bit of the clear embossing enamel to it.  And after I put everything on the frame the way I wanted it and glued it I finished the flowers with tiny pearls that I had in my stash.  (The paper flowers are fussy cut from the G45 set)

I didn't put a title on the middle yet but I think "Memories of my Mom" will be what I end up doing.  These are her favorite colors and that is part of the joy to make special things because you can customize them so that it really brings back amazing memories for you.

ABC Primer Card and Book Mark by Pam Bray

Hi!!! It is Pam today on the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Blog sharing my ABC Primer Card and Book Mark. It is so hard to believe school will start on Monday here in Memphis, TN. I thought that my favorite teacher could use a sweet bookmark. 

I began my card by first adhering card stock, pattern paper and a border strip to the top of my card front.

Continue to layer pieces of pattern paper to the top of the card base. 

Adhere Mixed Media Fragments 1 to the top of card base. 

Mat journal piece from pattern paper to red and black card stock. Add one of the ferns from the Fern Fronds to top.

Adhere three of the flowers from the Flower Stackers chipboard to pattern paper. Trim and sand edges. 

Layer Flower Stackers prepared pieces together. Adhere to top of card front. 

Add a few of the images from the pattern paper card.

Along with ribbon bow and a couple of premade flowers.

Form a pocket for the inside of card using pattern paper and border punch. 

Cover front and back of one of the Memory Keepers Small Dividers to create book mark. 

Decorate front of the Memory Keepers Small Dividers with pattern paper ....

and border punch. 

Add matching ribbon bow to top of book mark. 

Place inside of card.
