An ABC Primer Organizer System

Have you seen the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Organizer System? I think most of the design team has done a version of this project, and for good reason! It's so incredibly handy!

It's built up of various components which can then be mixed and matched together.

You can choose just the elements you need separately, or buy the entire set.

Then configure however you like! Move bits around. Use separately, place them together as a unit.

I've used mine for months now and it's really useful. The little drawers are great for storage. I've been using the bins to store rulers and scissors. I have A LOT of paint, so I use the Acrylic Paint Holder portion to hold those colours I use most, and to hold my glue bottles upside-down so that it's always ready use.

It's a nice, neat system and it's held up really well for me.

My Organizer is embellished with various papers from Graphic 45's An ABC Primer Deluxe Collectors Edition. 

This is a BIG project. It's not difficult, but it will require time. If you're doing the entire set be prepared to use quite a bit of paper. I only covered the visible exterior sides of the pieces. This saved time and paper. This also reduces bulk to the drawers ensuring there is enough space that they slide in and out with ease.

I knew that this was going to be a well used piece so I limited the additional embellishments I added to a few metal nameplates. Function over frills and glitter for this project!

Vintage School Desk featuring Graphic 45

Hi there! Where I live it's cold and snowy and generally perfect for hibernating in fuzzy jammies these days! In other words, it's a good time to stay inside and craft, so I decided to take on the adorable school desk piece I'd been eyeing for a while, and the Graphic 45 ABC Primer collection was perfect to use on this project!

When putting a 3D project together, I like to  fit all the pieces together so then I know exactly where I need paper to cover right to the edge and where slots need to be cut out. This photo shows a blown-out view after I traced around each piece and glued the paper on; I love Aleene's Tacky glue ofr 3D projects like this one, as it's thick enough to hold the pieces immediately to eliminate one piece popping out while fitting another onto it. This project went together smoothly and easily.

I sanded the edges and inked them with brown ink for a vintage feel, then fussy cut images from the papers and added them along with some flowers to the sides of the desk.for the top, I created some miniature schoolbooks with textured paper, white paper scraps and  used some title stickers from the paper collection.

There is also a mini-album to go with the desk; I covered all the pieces with patterned paper, sanded and inked the edges, and added fussy cuts and embellishments from the collection. I drilled 2 holes in each of the pages-if you have a strong hole punch, you may be able to use that, but mine wouldn't punch through the thick pages. I just tied the pages together with decorative fibers.

I snagged a nice big apple from the Fall shape set, painted it red and heat embossed it with UTEE, and attached it vertically to the seat to hold the mini album in place.

This was such a fun project to put together, and I have a crafter friend who happens to be a teacher, so I think I'll gift her with this next time I see her...thanks so much for stopping by, and happy crafting!

Vintage School Desk by Gloria

Hello, it is Gloria with you and it is my turn again on the blog! I had a blast creating the Vintage School Desk and matching mini album! THE VINTAGE DESK AND MINI ARE NOW AVAILABLE! CLICK HERE.

The desk is an adorable representation of the desks used in one-room school houses all across America! I used Graphic 45 vintage school papers to cover the desk and the mini album. The mini sits on the seat in the front of the desk.

The desk is approximately 6" tall and 6" deep, and 5" wide across the seat. The mini is 4 3/4" x 5 1/4" with rounded corners.

The back of the desk shows the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts attention to detail! Check out the pencil holder and the ink well. The desk also has some storage inside! Simply adorable!

Here is how you make one for yourself!

1. Prepare the desk pieces by wiping them with a cloth and sponging the edges with brown ink.

2. Cover the inside surfaces of the desk side and seat pieces with decorative paper.

3. Cover the outside surfaces of the desk and seat pieces with contrasting paper. I did not cover the bottom slats or the desk top as I wanted them to look like wood. I sponged brown ink onto those pieces.

4. Use a strong glue to assemble the desk. Sponge the edges with brown ink. Cut a ruler image from the G45 Place in Time paper and glue it to the top of the desk.

5. Select the pieces desired from the Vintage School Shape Set (coming soon).

6. Use various inks to color your shapes.

7. Sponge the frame and five pages of the mini album with brown ink.

8. Choose vintage school papers to cover each of the five pages of the album, front and back.  Glue the frame to the front of the first page. Decorate as desired. (See each page below.)

Page 1: Cover the front of this page with Graphic 45 ABC Primer (1, 2, Buckle My Shoe) paper. Glue the frame to the top of the page. Decorate with the Vintage School Shape Set and images cut from the paper.

Page 2:  Cover this page with Graphic 45 ABC Primer Jumping Joan paper. Add a belly band (G45 Place in Time September) and flash card image.

Page 3: Cover this page with Graphic 45 Children's Hour September Montage paper.

Page 4: Cover this page with G45 ABC Primer The Three R's paper. Add a tag cut from  Children's Hour September Collective paper.

Page 5: Cover this page with ABC Primer Bedtime Stories paper. Glue a scrap of  G45 Place in Time September paper to the chipboard book. Add the quill.

Page 6: Cover this page with Graphic 45 Children's Hour September Collective reverse paper. Add a belly band cut from the same paper.

Page 7: Cover this page with ABC Primer Happy Go Lucky paper. Add a belly band cut from Place in Time paper.

ABC Primer Memory Keeping Organizer by Pam Bray

Hi it is Pam today on the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Blog! I am so excited to share with you the Memory Keeping Organizer. It's fabulous and I can't wait to make a few more!

I began by first gluing all the pieces of the Memory Keeping Organizer together. Cut pattern paper to fit into each of the Memory Keeping Organizer slots. Decorating with strips and scallop borders from the pattern paper.

Add a sentiment from one of the journal pieces from the paper collection along with a scallop border to the front of the Memory Keeping Organizer.

Paint a Damask Singles with black paint. Dry. Adhere to front of prepared Memory Keeping Organizer. Place a sticker onto pattern paper; fussy cut around sticker. Place on prepared Damask Singles. 

Add legs to the prepared Memory Keeping Organizer. 

Fill with some of Gypsy Soul Laser Cut supplies: Small Tag Set, Memory Keepers Organizer Small Dividers,  Memory Keepers Organizer Large Dividers, and other fun items.

I am so excited to discover that the Memory Keeping Organizer fits perfectly in my IKEA Cabinet!!! How fabulous is that for a perfect storage solution!!! I am thinking that the Memory Keeping Organizer would make fabulous desk organizers also to give this Christmas season as gifts.
