Marker Cabinet by Dianna

Hi everyone, Dianna here with Gina's Designs Marker Cabinet and my second video.  I suggest doing a dry assembly prior to gluing and painting.  The first two pictures show all of my Copic markers, some paint markers, Sharpies and Bella glitter pens. The whole cabinet is sturdy and holds up to 165 markers. It will also hold Spectrum Noir markers.

Of course I do things backwards; I spray painted prior to gluing. This made it more difficult to assemble! I used Beacon's 3-n-1 glue to assemble and then Beacon's Fast Drying Decoupage was used to adhere the tissue paper.  The tissue paper is from Marshall's.

Here is the back of the cabinet, which shows more the over all affect of the tissue paper.  I think it looks like stamped leather.

A Magic Memory Keeping Organizer by Dianna

Hi Everyone, Dianna here with Gina's Designs Memory Keeping Organizer turned Magic Card Holder.  I started out making this for myself and then after I finished my son said "Mom that is cool!  Love the way it looks and it will fit my Magic Cards!"  "Thanks Mom".  The same son then took it upstairs and filled it with his cards.  I had to steal it back for photos and got the look only teenagers will give you.  I gave it right back.  

I suggest doing a dry run assembly prior to gluing.  This way you know which piece goes where prior to the commitment of glue.  I used Beacon 3-n-1 to assemble the organizer because I had thought to use this as an example selling at crops with Gina but of course plans change.  If you are not planning to travel with your storage piece then Scotch Quick Dry works just fine.  After assembly, I spray painted the organizer bronze.    

I found way awesome tissue paper at Marshall's and have been saving it to paper my storage pieces.  I first traced each side of the box on the tissue paper then cut out the sections.  I used Beacon's Fast Drying Decoupage first on each section of the box and then on the back of the paper.  The great thing about tissue paper is that if you tear it, it becomes "distressed" and no one can tell that you did not tear it on purpose, which of course that was the look that I was going for.

Hi Everyone, Dianna here with my version of Halloween Bagatelle boxes using Gina's Designs and Creative Paperclay!.  I used four boxes and distress painted the outside and used scrap Halloween paper for the inside.  I did not paint the inside of the boxes because I wanted the highlights.  I punched the tag that says so spooky and distressed the edges.  The spiderweb and Spooky are from the Gina's Designs and both were painted white.  I then used Stickles for more bling.  I painted a Triptych Arch Top silver and topped it with a rhinestone string. 

I had a blast using the Creative Paperclay Delight! I bought molds and used the clay in the molds. The owl, pumpkin and bat were created with the Creative Paperclay.   It is really easy to use, just spread the paperclay in the mold and pop it out.  I waited for it to dry, about a couple of hours and then used my Copic Markers and colored them.  The markers were easy to use on the paperclay.  I look forward to using more paperclay in my projects. 

The witches hats were created with a 1-1/2 inch circle punch and then punching a 1 inch punch in the center.  I then used a 2 inch punch and then cut a triangle out of the 2 inch circle.  I then glued the sides of the triangle together and glued the top of the hat to the bottom circle. I then decorated the hats with items laying around the house.

Halloween Door Owl by Dianna

Hi Everyone, Dianna here with a Halloween door owl.  I used Gina's Designs Door Owl and  Graphic 45's Steampunk Spells. 

I spray painted the owl with black paint.  While I waited for the paint to dry, I punched about 250 feathers out.  It seems like a lot of work but it only took about one hour total.  On the solid color feathers I used a Gelly Roll Pen to create "feather" lines.  After the paint dried, I used black and orange Stickles on the head of the owl, which I dubbed Clarence.  

Clarence's wings were traced and cut out of Graphic 45's Time Flies paper. I then fussy cut two extra for the eyes. The bow was cut from a 1-inch strip of paper.  I glued it in a circle then pinched the middle, cut two tabs on the sides then used and extra strip to wrap around the middle. I then used a strip of scrap envelope (one that was sent to me) and glued it to the middle of Clarence.  I did this in order to give the feathers a better base to stick to.  I inked all of the feathers (including the black ones). 

I traced the top hat on Graphic 45's Steampunk Spells.  I used a black velvet ribbon, a black rosette, and black feathers.  The orange ribbon and orange feathers for a pop of color. The silver spider finishes the hat.   

I used gears for Clarence's nose, which were inked black.  I cut a gear in 1/2 and inked that as well.  I painted the eyes orange and because it was such a bright orange I inked the whole circle.  I used the two clocks as eyes and used metals clock hands.

Witches Cabinet by Dianna

Hi, Everyone! Dianna here with my Halloween inspired by Gina's Designs cabinet and Graphic 45's Rare Oddities Collection.

First I painted the cabinet black and then laid the pieces out on the Graphic 45 Rare Oddities - Brews and Potions paper to get the sections of the paper that I wanted.  The cabinet was glued together, without the paper on, with Beacon 3 in 1.

I ended up cutting and piecing sections in the order that I wanted, so that it does not look like the original paper anymore.  The paper was then glued on the cabinet. Black ink was used on the edges of the paper.  

I then fussy cut matching bottles and scroll work, inking the edges. I used chipboard strips to pop them up.  

The owl and butterfly were fussy cut from the Graphic 45 Rare Oddities - Ghostly Greeting.  I inked the edges and used a gold paint pen on Gina's Wooden Decorative Key.  Black ink was used to distress the key and used a bronze Sharpie on clear stones then placed the stones on the key. Chipboard scrap was used to give the owl some support.  Then I glued the owl and butterfly to the key and the key to the cabinet. 

I painted one of Gina's spiderwebs black and used purple Stickles to give a little bling.  I labeled the bottles and put some glitter and micro beads in them as frogs eyes.  I then labeled the books that I had gotten on clearance. 

I can place everything in drawer for storage when the Holiday is over. 

Lastly, I painted Gina's new three witches (the pretty one) white, then used markers to draw her hair, skin and top. I used the back of the Rare Oddities to create the skirt.  

I did not want to glue her to the cabinet so I designed a stand using chipboard strips and strips from an envelopes that were mailed to me using priority mail.  Yes, I save everything.

Standing Flip Book by Dianna

Hi Everyone, Dianna here with a collaboration with Gina's Designs and The Robin's Nest.  I chose Gina's Designs Standing Flip Book to use with The Robin's Nest Cardstock.  I simply adored using the Saffron Sunrise and the Venice Collection Cardstock.

First I spray painted the Standing Flip book bronze (make sure you do not spray paint the notches and do not let paint get into the holes).  On the corners of the stand and underneath frame I used Gina's Art Deco Corner Set.   I traced chipboard pages onto The Robins Nest, Saffron Sunrise Collection Cardstock, and cut out and distressed with ink while watching a movie.  I used Twinkling H20's on all the chipboard pieces.  Above, I used a piece from Gina's Parisian Shape Set, used punch to create the fleur-de-lis and added two buttons. The Robin's Nest Cardstock used are Striped Honeycomb and Fleur Honeycomb.

 

I used Gina's Lace Border Stick and The Robin's Nest Cardstock - Saffron Honey.

On this page I created a fold out using a cracker box and clipped it back with a key paperclip.  I used three different fall off from left over paper that I cut the pages from The Robin's Nest.  I had fun with the Twinkling H20's and created a burnished effect by layering the H20's light to dark.  I use a foam makeup applicator to apply each color.

This is the backside of the fold out.  I used The Robin's Nest, Fleur Honeycomb Cardstock and Time Flies Rub-on.

I thought this picture showed how nicely the Standing Flip Book pages looked with The Robin's Nest Cardstock (Fleur Honeycomb)  The butterfly is from Gina's Designs (special order).  I used Twinkling H20's to create the tarnished effect.  

On the last picture (there are actually 12 different pictures, 6 per side of the flip) I used Gina's Deco Lattice Panel 2 and The Robin's Nest, Stripe Tropicana cardstock.  I used Twinkling H20's on the lattic and some extra flowers to pull in some the green from the frame.  This picture is on the backside of the flip out and part of the key paperclip is showing. I was so thrilled when Gina's Designs came out with the Wine Shape Set! I was waiting for a visit from my family and knew that we'd be going to a couple of wineries while they were here. And we did! So, I didn't have to dig deep at all for inspiration for this piece.

I had also recently received some of ColourArte's Silk Acrylics and Twinkling H2Os, and they paired with Gina's Designs; like... wine and cheese.

For the background of this piece I began with a 9 x 12" canvas on which I slathered blue, green and purple acrylic paints and some of the Silk Acrylics. I got one of my Twinkling H2Os good and soppy, dipped a wet brush in it, and then flung the color onto the canvas. I followed up with a french script stamp using StazOn Claret.

For the bottles, I painted them (and all the other pieces) first with gesso. Once the gesso was dry I painted on Silk Acrylics Olive Vine. I love the way they shimmer when the light hits them!

For the glasses, I used Silk Acrylics Iridescent Blue. I free-handed some wine in the glasses using Sharpie Markers. Then I gave both glasses a coat of Judkins Diamond Glaze to make them look like glass.

For the grape vines, I colored in the vines with a brown Sharpie, the leaves with a Distress marker, and the grapes with a combination of StazOn colors. Then I smooshed Distress Stickles around on the leaves. To give the grapes a little more depth, I dotted on StazOn Studio Glaze and Stickles.

I glued everything where I wanted it and have a piece that will find a happy home hanging over someone's wine bar. Plus, I got to revisit a couple of wonderful days wandering the countryside and trying some delicious wines.

Live - Laugh - Love Wall Hanging

Hey there, everyone.  So glad you stopped by.  Barbara here with Gina's Designs Lasercuts, and today I want to share an inspirational wall hanging that I made from three blank coasters and lots of Gina's chipboard shapes.



I knew from the very first time I saw the Birds on Key Set that I wanted to use one of them (you get two in a package) as a hanger of some sort.  I also seem to have accumulated quite a few blank coasters over the years.  So, I pulled them out, saw that they fit with the Key, and voila.

First lay out your chipboard pieces to see how you may want to arrange them, and what will fit on each coaster.  Tip:  If you have a digital camera, take a picture of your layout to refer to.  Remove chipboard shapes and set aside.

Cut six pieces of print paper to 4"x4" and adhere to front of each coaster.  I used the music paper on the front, and the woodgrain paper on the back, but if you want to adhere the hinges with brads, then wait to cover the back of the coasters so you can cover the brad prongs.



I inked the hinges with Versamark ink and embossed with Rustique embossing powder.  To make the EP look a bit more orange, I added some Adobe ink to the edges, reheated the hinges so the ink just sinks into the hot EP.  This was done to all three sets of hinges.

I adhered the hinges to each coaster as shown in the final photo.  Tip:  Because these are chipboard hinges, and really meant for decorative purposes only, you will want to be careful while adhering them.  I decided to strengthen them with a small piece of Tyvek glued to the back of each hinge before gluing them down.  This will prevent them from tearing apart.  

Here, you can see the front only is covered with the music paper,  the hinges are glued down, and I also used the brads because I liked how it looks.  I used an awl or paper piercer to mark the holes for the brads.

I used mixed media inks to color my chipboard this time.  For tiny areas, I simply used one of these Fantastic brushes to color with the ink.  To remove the ink and pick up another color from another ink pad, I simply dipped the tip into water and dried it off with a cloth or paper towel. 

I used the Patina, Vintage, and Honey on the birds.  A black ink pen was used for the eyes.  The key was covered with the Delicate Gold and Silver ink, then a tiny bit of Adobe was randomly applied.

Each of the Word Stackers 1 were covered with Vintage, watered down Leather, and edged with Mossy Green. The corrugated bottom pieces were all gessoed on the high spots, then either Schoolhouse Red, Patina, or Mossy were inked over the white gesso and spritzed with water to enable it to run into the crevices.



The tree was colored with Leather, highlighted with Honey, and Mossy with a touch of Vintage for the leaves.  The bird was, of course, colored with Schoolhouse Red, and Vintage for the beak.

They honeycomb was inked with Vintage, then added Adobe sparingly.  The bees were colored with Vintage and Black, the wings were colored with Pewter, edged with Patina, and Delicata Silver was added to the center of the wings.  The crown was colored with both Delicata gold and silver.

The heart was covered with Schoolhouse Red. The flourish was covered with Delicata gold.  (See photo below to see how I cut out this shape).  The smaller heart was inked with Schoolhouse Red, blended with Honey to make a more pink color.  The lady silhouette was inked with Black.  Then the dress form was inked with Leather, and the body portion with Mossy.

I used the outer filigree frame that matches this solid heart as a template to determine where to make my cuts on the Texture Sheet - Flourished.  Rather than cut in straight lines, I cut along some of the flourishes themselves, to get this more "flourishey " heart shape.

When all pieces were attached, I covered the back and the brad prongs with the woodgrain paper.  This finished it off nicely.

One last thing to do was to attach those top hinges to the Birds on Key Set and hang it on the wall.

Sweet Summer Cards by Barb

I know I shouldn't complain, but when you live just north of Seattle, 85° plus temperatures feel like an insult. And that's what we've been dealing with for a while, with seeming no end in sight. So, while I'm busy wishing for cooler days, I'm also craving those wonderful tasty treats of Summer.

Those treats are my inspiration for this week's project, a set of note cards.

For the cherries, I began with a thin layer of gesso just to make the colors pop a little more. I painted the leaves with green irRESISTibles spray - I simply unscrewed the cap and used my finger to "paint" it on. I dabbed on StazOn Black Cherry and Claret, then I slathered on some Rock Candy crackle paint. Once that dried, I dabbed on a little more of the StazOn Claret. 

The ice cream cone was so easy and so much fun! I really love how it turned out. I began by sponging Distress Ink on the cone part, then used a stencil and darker ink to create the waffle cone look. For the ice cream part, I glooped (if you're a crafter, you know that's a real word!) on some white Neon Amplify. I let it dry for a few minutes then hit it with the heat wand to make it puff up. To give it even more of a frozen treat look, I smeared some Picket Fence Stickles onto the bumps.

To make the popsicles, I began with a coat of gesso (leaving the holders just as they were, since they already kind of look like popsicle sticks). I used StazOn Studio Glaze and once it was dry, smeared on a little Creative Medium in iridescent green and purple. I also outlined them with Stickles just to give them a little more depth.

The lemonade pieces also started out with a coat of gesso. For the pitcher, I slathered on silver Creative Medium. When it dried, I painted on some Rock Candy crackle paint. When that layer dried, I smeared a lighter shade of acrylic silver into the cracks. I liberally dabbed yellow Radiant Neon ink on the lemon. Without waiting for it to dry, I spritzed it with yellow irRESISTibles spray. Once it was completely dry, I dotted it with yellow Stickles to give it a more pocked look.

Now if you'll pardon me, I'm off in search of ice cream!

This is probably one of the easiest pieces I've ever done. Seriously. It took minutes.

I have a box of vintage poster stickers, from which I selected the one pictured here. I adhered it to heavy kraft cardstock. Then I stamped the harlequin pattern and added the dots.

For the bicycle and gears, I dabbed black craft ink all over them, 

coated them in black embossing powder, and heat set them.

Then I glued the bike and gears to the rest of the piece and I was done! 

I'll be putting this in a nice frame and sending it to a bicycle lover that I know.

Amazing Wonder Art Journal Pages

Hello chippie fans.  Barbara here again with my last post as guest designer for Gina's Lasercut Chipboard.  But never fear, I am not gone for good.  I will be back next month as a regular designer on their design team. Yay, I am so excited about this fabulous opportunity.

Anyway, it is no surprise to those who know me that I am super fond of birds.  It is no "wonder" that I am always "amazed" by their sweetness, as well as their ability to fly!  Hence came the name for my journal pages. 

After adding a background of printed tissue paper with matte medium, I blended Radiant Gels Twilight and Celedon on both pages, spritzing with water to keep the transparency.  Then I dabbed a  Radiant Rain Coral Berry dauber along the top edge of journal page, misting with water and allowing the color to run and spread.

Next, I spread Twilight Radiant Gel through a stencil with a spatula and let that dry.  Then I dabbed 

more Radiant Rain Coral Berry randomly over the background, spritzed with water and added Kiwi Radiant Gel, blending the two over the background.

Paint Flights of Fancy Music Girl with flesh tint acrylic paint.  Draw in a few facial details with a pencil. 

Add highlights to her face by mixing white gesso with the flesh tint paint.

Continue coloring face details with markers, and add more flesh tint to blend the features more.

Cover her face with a paper towel and mist with a mixture of Primary Elements China Black and water for hair.  I love the mottled look this gives the hair. 

Dab Radiant Rain Egyptian Gold over two Damask Singles.  Heat emboss the ornamental bird cage with Versamark ink and silver embossing powder.  While the powder is still hot, sprinkle black embossing powder over it to give it an antique silver look.

Spray bird flourish with Fern Radiant Rain mist.  Add Twilight Radiant Gel to the bird only.

Spray Fern Radiant Rain Mist over the leaves and ornament.  These were the punch outs from the large Damask Single.  Nothing goes to waste here.

Dab Egyptian Gold Radiant Rain dabber over words, then mist with Pewter Radiant Rain Mist.  When dry, add Delicata Silver Shimmer randomly over words.

With all the chipboard embellishments completed, adhere to the pages, as shown.
