Zombie House

Happy Saturday everyone! When tasked recently with making something smallish and zombie related for someone I was like … can you give me something a little more difficult? Seriously, I've got this covered.

I had a set of plastic zombies in my stash that I found at the dollar store. They are like army men except they're all zombies. A whole bag full for a dollar! I chose a fun one and washed it with soap and water. I then gave it a coat of tacky glue diluted in water and, once dry, started painting it with acrylic paint and a tiny paintbrush.

Here's the first layer. It was easier than I expected.

Once finished, he seemed too shiny and clean so I grunged him up with a bit of black pastel chalk.

All of the black and white papers used in this project came from My Mind's Eye Meadow Lark and Echo Park Chillingsworth Manor. The red strip used in the interior of the tin is from a Tim Holtz Idea-Ology paper pack. The house itself is made from an altoid tin and a GSL Altoids Tin Facade available over at Alpha Stamps.

Before starting work on decorating the tin, I roughed up the surface with a sanding block. This helps with adhesion of the paper.

Using the tin itself as a template for the front and back, I traced it and cut the papers to size.

Once the interior papers were glued in place, I added a printed image left over from a prior zombie project. Have I mentioned I love zombie projects?

To add a bit of interest to the front of the house, I cut the center 'T' from an arched dresden window.

The roof line also got some dresden trim and one of the GSL Whimsy Doors & Windows available over at Rubbermoon which was painted red framed a printed zombie biohazard warning sign. I raised the little guy up a bit by gluing him onto a scrabble tile.
