Trojan Rabbit

Happy Saturday, everyone! Connie here with another project inspired by one of my favorite movies – Monty Python and the Holy Grail. In the movie, King Arthur's knights built the rabbit to help them sneak  into the castle controlled by Frenchmen. How very crafty of them!

My version started with a GSL MiniHouse Shadowbox 2 which is easily assembled with tacky glue.

Once assembled, the roof hangs over the side walls of the house a bit to form eaves. I didn't want those for this project so I marked where to remove the overhanging bit and carefully cut away those pieces using a straight edge and a sharp knife.

The exterior walls and roof of the house were covered with coffee stir sticks. I cut the sticks longer than needed and glued them in place. When the glue dried the excess was easily snipped off using a flush wire cutter.

I drew out a pattern for the rabbit head and used it to cut identical pieces from an MME Necessities wood grain paper.

The rabbit heads were glued together with the exception of the top half of the ears, which got turned down. The eye is white cardstock. I made a wash of burnt umber acrylic paint with a bit of water to stain the wooden exterior. 

I added GSL Wheels 1 Inch Fancy that I painted a darker brown and glued into place onto a skewer. I used E6000 to adhere them to the bottom of the rabbit. 

Since the house is a shadowbox, I papered the interior with the same wood grain paper I used for the rabbit's head. To show the intended purpose of the rabbit, I added an image of the knights inside set on a piece of double sided foam tape.

Paper Flower Fairy House Shrines

You know what I love? Smashing every single thing I love all into one project. Houses, little things,  shrines, butterflies, fairies... check, check, check....

Start with some super cute Mini House Shadowboxes and off you go! There are four different sizes available, each adorably tiny.

To embellish I've used old music sheets inside, and scrapbook paper on the exterior. 

A snip of Gold Tiny Dot Dresden Borders trims each roof.

Inside a paper fairy made from this Matchbox Fairy Collage Sheet with Transparent Wings. Paper butterflies, a pinch of moss, and few sprinkles of "faux flowers" finish those pretty things off.

The most difficult part of this project is cutting out the fairies, but with a pair of sharp scissors and a bit of patience you'll do just fine. If you want to see the whole process of assembling these pretties I have a video walk-through available HERE .

Sweets Shop Magnet

Happy Saturday, everyone. I'm here to share one of my favorite quick projects - a sweets shop magnet made from a GSL Mini House Shadowbox 2.

The house shadowbox comes together easily from just six pieces. I glued the sides and floor to the back wall with tacky glue and set aside the two roof pieces for later.

After priming the walls, ceiling and front edges of the house with gesso, I selected a pink floral paper from BoBunny's Sweet Moments collection for the back wall of the shop and a white woodgrain paper from ms. sparkle & co. for the floor.

I printed the word 'sweets' on chipboard, chose a few beads to use as table legs and painted a scrap of chipboard white to serve as a table top.  The walls and ceiling of the shop were painted white.

Making the candy jars was a lot of fun. I filled tiny glass jars with a combination of pink and silver microbeads, heart shaped nail decorations and a few sweet polymer cane slices. The jar lids were fashioned from metal beads and pearl straight pins glued together. Once the glue was dry, I snipped off the pin shanks.

So cute!

Two magnets were attached to the back of the little shop then the roof was finished off with some pink woodgrain stickers from 7Gypsies Attic Junque Pack.

Shabby Chic Christmas Brush Tree Shrines

Hey there all you Gypsy Soul Peeps! Well Christmas Day has come and gone and I have had so much fun creating holiday decor with my GSL chippies. Today I'm sharing a set of very shabby and very sweet Christmas tree shrines. I reallyyyyyy love brush trees so I feel like they deserve to be displayed in a nice shrine.

 I mean are these not the cutest things????

I've even given them a bit of a snowy background.

And rooftops that are so sparkly and have a ton of texture.

I need to make like elebenty hundred of these to line up on my mantle!!!!!

Here's how I created them.....

I assembled the shrines and painted them with flat white acrylic. Two coats please : ) I really like Tombow Mono-Multi to adhere the pieces.

I've splodged on a fair bit of faux snow and tamped the brush in it to add stiff peaks.

Then carefully sprinkled on 3D powder.

Next add some glitter...everything is better with glitter.

These metal feet were given a coat of Gesso and a top coat of the white paint. You will look at this and say....but Ginny there's no room for the back feet and the shrine will tip over.

So I added a super sturdy chipboard back support to hold up the back. See how you don't really even notice it looking from the front.

Now it's stable and can be filled with just about anything that will fit. I recommend tiny brush trees : )

I also recommend making a lot of them as they were super fun to create and will look fabby with your favorite seasonal decor.

Fairy Wreath

Hello and Happy Spring! It's Gloria with you today, and I am sharing a fun, springtime wreath.

I admit, making dimensional wreath projects is not in my main wheelhouse, but with the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts chippies, it makes it pretty easy to take one on! I had a blast making my wreath and adding a tiny fairy hut, with some sweet fairies flitting around!

I depleted my stash of yellow flowers for this project, but it was worth it!

Let's get started!

We will be using the medium ring from the Wreath Rings set for our basic wreath shape. Set the other rings aside for other projects. 

Brush one side of the wreath ring with matte gel medium and place it face down onto a piece of decorative paper. Use a brayer to smooth the paper. Set the project aside to allow the adhesive to dry.

Use a craft knife to cut round the inside and outside circles. Use sanding blocks to smooth any rough edges.

Prepare the pieces of the Mini House Shadow Box 2.

Assemble the house. Use white ink or paint to give the house a weathered look. I used a spray ink and a foam brush to paint my house.

Once the paint has dried, glue the house to the bottom right side of the wreath, as shown. I used hot glue to attach my little house. I also added a bit of support on the back of the house with a cardboard shim.

Use pigment inks to color the vines, fairy, and word art from the Scribble Frame Fairy set. Allow the ink to dry.

Glue the fairy frame to the top of the 3D house, as shown.

Add dew drops to a small glass bottle and glue the bottle to the inside of the house. Add a butterfly charm, as shown. Attach the word art to the upper left of the wreath.

Use black ink to color two small fairies from the Garden Fairies - Small set. Allow the ink to dry. Glue one fairy to the top of the "H" and the other fairy to the bottom left of the scribble frame.

Use hot glue to attach yellow and white flowers, and green leaves, to the frame and the main wreath, as desired. Add yellow  and green enamel dots, as desired.

Do Your Best Mini House

Hello lovelies out there. Shanna here with a new mini project to share!

I haven't played with any of the mini houses lately so I grabbed one and put it together! 

I paint the house with some Prima Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint and added some microbes in for textures. 

The bird cage got some gesso and then some VerDay treatment. I painted the punch element with the Art Alchemy Paint as well and then stamped on the circle while it was wet. 

Using some cardboard to add dimension and then a Tom Holtz sticker on top for a sentiment. 

The mini houses are to die for! I just love these things. There are 4 sizes in the store so go run and check them out!
