Dishwasher Tags

Hello, Friends! It's Gloria with you today. This is my last project post as part of the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts team. It is hard to say good-bye! I want to thank Gina for the opportunity to design with her amazing chippies over the past few years! I have enjoyed it immensely!

My project for today is one that I have been dreaming of making for quite some time. A few years ago one of my scrappy pals made a set of clean/dirty tags for her dishwasher. I have long admired them and wanted to make a set of my own. (For more information on the original design, see the post on my personal blog.)

For the base of my tags, I used two of the large tags from the Tags in a Box Extra Tag Set. These tags are nice and big, approximately 8" tall and 4" wide. I created two tags, one to place on the dishwasher to let your family know that the dishes are CLEAN (and in need of being put away), and one to indicate that the dishes inside are DIRTY (which means they can feel free to load their own dishes).

I used the vintage homemaker themed paper by Graphic 45 called Home Sweet Home. This is an older collection, but I have been saving some of it for this project!

Let's make some tags!

Use a black pen, ink, or paint to color the edges of two large tags from the Tags in a Box Extra Tag Set and two small (3 1/4" x 1 5/8") tags from the Small Tag Set. I found that if I first painted the edges of the tags with white gesso, that the black pen "stuck" to the tag better.

Select two frames from the Waterworks Shape Set. I had two sets, so selected two of the square frames. Trim one of the faucets from an extra frame. Then choose a propeller (fan shape) from the Propellers Set. Sponge all the elements with silver or other metallic ink. Allow to dry.

Trim decorative paper for the front and back of all the tags. Attach the paper with a gel medium. Brush another layer of medium over the surface of the paper to seal it. Allow to dry.

Use sticker letters (or chipboard letters, if you wish) to spell out "CLEAN" on one of the small tags, and "DIRTY" on the other. I used some old sticker letters that I found in my stash. Brush another layer of gel medium over the top of the letters to seal them. Allow to dry.

Assemble the first tag by gluing the waterworks frame to the top of the tag. Trim out a decorative sign from the paper and glue inside the frame. (You can see that I fussy cut some elements from the paper as well.)

Glue the "CLEAN" tag to the bottom of the larger tag, as shown. Fussy cut an image from the paper and attach it to the right side of the waterworks element.

Add a decorative brad to the fan shape and glue it to the upper left corner of the small tag. Tuck some postage images, cut from the paper, under the fan. Add a decorative strip to the bottom of the large tag.

Glue a few paper flowers to the tag, as well as some twine. Coat the entire project with more gel medium to seal it and protect it from getting wet.

You may add more or less decoration to your tag, as you desire. Match your tag to your kitchen decor.

We will repeat the process with the other tag.  Glue the waterworks frame to the bottom of the tag. Trim out a decorative sign from the paper and glue inside the frame.

Glue the "DIRTY" tag to the top of the larger tag, as shown. Glue the extra faucet to the top of the tag, making it look like the word "dirty" is dripping out of the faucet. Fussy cut an image from the paper and attach it to the right side of the waterworks element.  Add a few postage stamp images to the lower right of the waterworks frame.

Glue a paper flower to the tag, as well as some twine. Coat the entire project with more gel medium to seal it and protect it from getting wet.

You could make one tag double-sided, with "clean" on one side, and "dirty" on the other, but I chose to make two tags so that each tag had one flat surface.

If your dishwasher has a magnetic surface, glue magnets to the back of each tag. My dishwasher has a decorative wood front, so I added some hook and loop tape to the back of a large clothespin. I can attach the appropriate tag to the clothespin as needed.

Say Cheese Album Cover

Hello, Friends! It's Gloria with you today. I am sharing an amusement park themed brag book as my project. I found this 5 3/4" x 8 1/4" binder in my stash. It is a little ring binder, perfect for making a brag book or autograph book commemorating a trip to see "the mouse."

I thought it would be fun to decorate the cover with some fun chipboard and Disney-themed items. I added all sorts of goodies to the front of this little book. It makes me happy just to look at it!

I really like the photo frames. This one has cut-out words at the bottom! You could place a photo into this instead of the "sign" that I used.

The  Say Cheese Shape Set has tons of cool stuff to add to the project. I only used a few items from the pack. I can make a lot more projects with what is left over! I used the camera shape and added a graphic behind the camera opening.

I just adore the cut out panels! I added a decorative paper clip to the edge of the "snap shot" panel. I also added a decorative brad to the photo reel. It looks very cool with black paper behind, and the fancy brad in the center!

 I added decorated paper to the inside covers, too. I found some photo reel paper in my stash! How cool is that?!

 The back is plain, with just a piece of the film strip attached.

Hello Sunshine Card

Hello, Friends! It's Gloria with you today, I am sharing a sweet, springtime card with you. This is an 8" x 8" card that can be used to hold a gift card for your favorite friend. It can also be used as a scrapbook layout or part of a mini album!

I used soft, springtime colors and an adorable image, along with lovely chipboard embellishments...and tons of flowers!

The paper set the tone, so I colored my image and my chipboard embellishments to match the paper. You need the following Gypsy Soul Laser Cut items:

I covered the chipboard with gesso and pigment ink.

Fairy Wreath

Hello and Happy Spring! It's Gloria with you today, and I am sharing a fun, springtime wreath.

I admit, making dimensional wreath projects is not in my main wheelhouse, but with the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts chippies, it makes it pretty easy to take one on! I had a blast making my wreath and adding a tiny fairy hut, with some sweet fairies flitting around!

I depleted my stash of yellow flowers for this project, but it was worth it!

Let's get started!

We will be using the medium ring from the Wreath Rings set for our basic wreath shape. Set the other rings aside for other projects. 

Brush one side of the wreath ring with matte gel medium and place it face down onto a piece of decorative paper. Use a brayer to smooth the paper. Set the project aside to allow the adhesive to dry.

Use a craft knife to cut round the inside and outside circles. Use sanding blocks to smooth any rough edges.

Prepare the pieces of the Mini House Shadow Box 2.

Assemble the house. Use white ink or paint to give the house a weathered look. I used a spray ink and a foam brush to paint my house.

Once the paint has dried, glue the house to the bottom right side of the wreath, as shown. I used hot glue to attach my little house. I also added a bit of support on the back of the house with a cardboard shim.

Use pigment inks to color the vines, fairy, and word art from the Scribble Frame Fairy set. Allow the ink to dry.

Glue the fairy frame to the top of the 3D house, as shown.

Add dew drops to a small glass bottle and glue the bottle to the inside of the house. Add a butterfly charm, as shown. Attach the word art to the upper left of the wreath.

Use black ink to color two small fairies from the Garden Fairies - Small set. Allow the ink to dry. Glue one fairy to the top of the "H" and the other fairy to the bottom left of the scribble frame.

Use hot glue to attach yellow and white flowers, and green leaves, to the frame and the main wreath, as desired. Add yellow  and green enamel dots, as desired.

Altered Butterfly Tag

Hello Chipboard Fans! It's Gloria with you today! I have created an altered butterfly tag as my project this week.

I have used one of the tags from the Tags in a Box Extra Tag Set for the tag base. The tag is large, 8' tall by 4" wide! The show-stopper is the beautiful Butterfly of Gears! I used several kinds of embossing powder and enamel to create this vintage gem!

I used more embossing powder to age the wrought iron border piece from the Wrought Iron Set. I used some rusty-looking embossing powder to give the gears a metallic shine (Gears Shape Set). I finished off the piece by adding flowers and some steampunk embellishments.

Pretty Pink Birthday Card

Hello and good morning! It's Gloria with you today. I made a pretty, pink birthday card to share. I don't get to use much "little girl" pink, since my children are young adults and none of them like pink! I let out my inner grandmother today and made a sweet pink card!

This card is a whopping 8" x 6"! I wanted something substantial, and perfect for adding a gift card to the inside. There is just something extra special about an over-sized card!

To create this card, start out by inking the birthday sentiment from the Birthday Shape Set with cupid pigment ink. Cover the inked chipboard with bubble gum scented embossing powder and heat set. (Yes, I said bubble gum scented embossing powder! And it really does smell like bubble gum, even after it's heated and cooled!)

Ink one of the shapes from the Little Dancers set with pepper pigment ink. Allow the ink to dry.

Create the card base by cutting one piece of black cardstock to 8" x 6". Cut a second piece of black cardstock to 8 1/2" x 6". Score at 1/2" from the top edge. Fold and burnish on the score line. Attach strong, double-sided tape to the 1/2" tab. Attach the two pieces of cardstock together to create a top-fold card, 8" tall and 6" wide.

Cut dark pink cardstock to 7 7/8" x 5 7/8" and attach the panel to the card front. Cut pink dotted paper to 7 3/4" x 5 3/4" and attach the panel to the card front. Glue the birthday chipboard sentiment to the top of the card, approximately 1/2" from the top edge.

Use a stitched die cut template to cut textured white cardstock to approximately 5 1/4" x 4" and attach the panel to the left side of the card. Use a stitched die cut template to cut dark pink cardstock to 4 3/4" x 3 1/2" and attach the panel to the white cardstock. Use a stitched scallop die cut template to cut printed cardstock to approximately 4 1/2" x 3 1/4". Attach the printed panel to the dark pink cardstock.

Attach the large doily (Intricate Cardstock Doily Set) to the card front as shown. Glue the little dancer shape to the left side of the card.

Glue a selection of flowers to the card, overlapping the doily as shown. Place two decorative pins into the top right section of flowers. Place pink and black sequins onto the card as desired.

Cut two pieces of dark pink cardstock to 7 7/8" x 5 7/8" and attach them to the inside panels of the card. Cut two pieces of white cardstock to 7 3/4" x 5 3/4" and attach them to the dark pink panels. Stamp a sentiment onto the white panel on the inside of the card with black ink. Cut strips of pink dot paper and attach them to the top and bottom panels.
