Zombie Ornaments

Happy Saturday, everyone. Halloween will be here before you know it and I have been in the mood to create some creepy projects lately. I have created some fun zombie ornaments using the GSO Tree Ornament Matchbox which is available over at Alpha Stamps. Who says Christmas is the only holiday for displaying ornaments? 

I started by poking small holes on both ends of the box with a needle tool which will allow for the addition of a hanger on the top and a dangle on the bottom. 

The matchbox sleeve comes pre-scored and is easily glued together with tacky glue and set aside to dry.

 

For the interior of the box, I cut a section of Martha Stewart Vampire collection paper to size, scored it, and added a snip of Martha Stewart Holidays blood drip adhesive border. 

 

The box was assembled then the background paper was glued in place. 

 

For the exterior of the matchbox, I cut papers from the K and Company Haunted collection and chose a few zombie photo booth images from Ten Two Studios.

 

To frame the zombies, I painted some GSL Postage Frames in black acrylic paint.

 

The exterior paper was glued onto the box then the framed zombie was set in place on the front. 

Dangling from the bottom of these ornaments are key tags with silver number stickers.

 

The tags are held in place by a tiny screw eye and a miniature skull bead. Zombie sentiments were printed onto cardstock and mounted inside the box with a bit of foam tape on the back.   A length of black ribbon was added to the top for hanging.

Steampunk Halloween Art Card Set by Susan

Hello crafty friends!  I'm here today to share steampunk-y art cards made with Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts ATCs!

Do you know the difference between ATC, ACEO, and art cards?  Lemme tell you my take on all of it.  ATC is short for "Artist Trading Card".  The creation of an ATC has to follow a size rule: 2 1/2" x 3 1/2".  An ATC isn't for sale, rather made for trading with other artists.  It's a great way to collect and share original art!

ACEO is "Art Card, Editions and Originals".  Yes, that's a mouthful!  ACEOs follow the same size rule but are traditionally the sellable version of an ATC.  They can be original works or numbered limited editions.

An art card is basically an ACEO.  I'm just not fancy enough to use ACEO, y'know?

I cut paper for the front and back sides to 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches.  Using the last bits of a glue medium I painted it onto the chipboard and added the paper.  Not shown is my brayer -- I rolled it on to smooth out the glue clumps.  You can also use a ruler or anything that will flatten out the paper if needed.

Next, I used the Postage Frames to give dimension to the spooky stamps.

And that's it!  These were quick projects to make and look neat as a set.  Here's a view of the back sides.

Business Card Holder

 Hello everyone.  Gina here and today I am sharing a business card holder I made for my daughter in law, who recently opened her own business.

 I began by laying out my pieces and doing a dry assembly.  I decided which of my paper pieces would need slots cut and which would not.  I traced my pieces on the patterned paper (I used Authentique's Elegant Three). Remember that you do NOT want to cover the tabs on the pieces so all of the sides and bottom pieces will be cut as simple rectangles.

 After cutting out my paper I moved to the paint stage. Only the edges of the pieces were going to show so I used an acrylic paint pen to paint these.  The raw edge soaks up the paint and it does take two coats for a smooth well covered finish.

 Next I applied the paper to the inside of the ends of the holder.  These are the pieces that I cut the slot holes in.  I used Scotch Quick Dry adhesive (in the fine line applicator).

 I assembled the business card holder using the same adhesive.

 I applied the paper to the inside of the holder.

 And finally to the outside of the holder.

 For some added decoration I used a frame from the Postage Frames set

 and a corner from the Victorian Corners 2 set.

 I colored these black using a Sharpie marker and sealed them with a coat of Diamond Stickles (who doesn't need a little sparkle on their desk??).

I printed a family photo for the top frame and used another piece of the patterned paper to fill the lower frame.  I attached the frame to the back of the holder and the corner to the front of the holder, adding a punched piece of paper for layering.

Advent Shadow Box by Gloria

Hello, it is Gloria with you and I have a huge project to share. And by huge, I mean a time-consuming project! Depending on how "fancy" you get, this project could take a while, so you will want to get your Advent Calendar Shadowbox on order TODAY! (Check availability at the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Store).

I have always had some sort of advent calendar set up during the holidays, even after my kids got "too old" for one. The calendar I have been using is getting a bit tired and worn, so, I figured, time to make a new one! This shadow box version of an advent calendar is approximately 11 1/2" x 11 1/2" x 1 1/2" with an 8" x 8" center opening.

There are 25 small boxes (roughly 1 1/2" square). You can purchase the pre-cut chipboard boxes or you can use a template to make them yourself. If you have an electronic cutting system, there is also a cut file for cutting the little boxes! You can decorate the 8" x 8" opening to your heart's content.

I even decorated the back of the shadow box. It would be fun to add a large photo to the back of the box to display as well.

1. To begin, unpack your shadow box and wipe the pieces with a damp cloth to remove the soot created during the cutting process.

2. Spray the pieces with black glimmer mist. Once the mist has dried, you may wish to seal the pieces with a clear sealant. Assemble the shadow box. (You will have three small pieces "left over" to use for creating box #25. I chose to skip that step.) After I assembled my box, I wrapped the outer edges with washi tape for extra stabilization.

3. Assemble the small treat boxes. Use strong tape or glue to assemble

4. If using glue, allow the glue to dry before going to the next step. You may also wish to rub the edges of each box with ink.

5. To cover each box, trim a strip of paper to 1 3/8" x 5" (cut 25). Trim two squares to 1 7/16" x 1 7/16" (cut 50). Use a 1/2" circle punch to cut a notch into the top of one square (do this for 25). Use the box as a guide for the notch placement.

6. Wrap the 5" long strip around the box, securing at the front. Glue one of the squares to the bottom of the box.

7. Add the notched square to the front of the box. You may add paper to the inside of your boxes, if desired. Since my project is decorative only, I skipped that step.

8. Place a box into each opening of the advent calendar. Trim a piece of decorative paper to 8" x 8" and attach to the center of the shadowbox. Trim a second piece of decorative paper to 8" x 8" and cut on the diagonal. Attach to the lower right corner of the center opening (shown in Step 14 below). Trim four paper strips to 1 3/8" x 8" and attach to the inside edges of the shadowbox.

9. Cut four pieces of decorative paper to 1 7/16" x 11 3/8" and attach them to the outside edges of the box.

10.Use a craft knife to separate the Faux Metal Number Plates 1-25 from the background. Attach two micro brads to each number.

11. Use foam adhesive or glue dots to attach a number embellishment to each box, 1-24. Arrange the numbered boxes in your advent calendar as desired.

12. Select the numbers element from the package of Mixed Media Fragments 1. Cover the surface of the chipboard with embossing ink. Sprinkle with gold glitter embossing powder and heat.

13. Select one of the Postage Frames and paint it with white paint. Once the paint is dry, cover the surface with glitter glue. Stamp the image onto cream paper and attach to the back of the postage frame.

14. Glue the gold numbers to the upper left of the center window. Fussy cut a Christmas image from decorative paper and attach to the lower right corner with foam tape. Add the postage frame as shown. Assemble the last box (#25) and glue to the center window, at an angle as shown.

15. Add holiday decor and embellishments to the #25 box as desired.

16. Decorate the top of the box with more holiday decor and ribbons.

Cake is My Favorite Place Birthday Greeting Card

Hey there Peeps! Ginny here dropping to share a funky and girly Birthday Greeting card I created with amazing chippies from Gypsy Soul and really festive patterned papers.

I'm just sayin green and pink together is the funnest!!!! And it has cake soooooo.

 



I painted the Flourish Frame Sienna to coordinate with the background paper and inked it just a bit then added some of the matching patterns to the  Postage Frames painted in white to build up the side of the card.

A few Flourishes painted in crisp white helps to break up the similar tones and brightens up the front.

These flowers match perfectly and add a bit of texture.
