Sweet lavender and chipboard

It's Teresa here sharing a sweet gift set I did with some of my favorite papers from 49th and Market.  I love the business card holder we have and I thought with the papers being printed with these super gorgeous flowers I could create a simple yet beautiful holder for her cards. 

I also had extra lavender papers that I used to make a cute card with the "Circle Doily Set".  This set has lots of pieces that you can stack or use separately for lots of cards to give away.  I painted mine with white chalk paint in thin layers until I got it nice and opaque.  I added a little bit of a sheer lavender ribbon across the middle and also a matching bow with roses.  The glittery white letters are from my stash. 

And here is just a closeup of the business card box and the flowers.  You could add more dimension by cutting out a second layer of flowers and adhering them to the others with 3D Foam dots.  Anyway you make it, you will have a wonderful gift for any of your friends or family :)

Happy Saturday Gypsy Soul Fans!!! Are you ready for winter!!! I am sharing with you an altered Business Card Holder with Memo Pad created to use on your desk or to re-create as a gift. You know it is that time of the year to start thinking of gift giving ideas.

Begin painting the Business Card Holder  and Altoids Scallop Insert with green and blue paint; dry. Paint with Weathered Wood; dry. Finally, paint with Crackle Paste; dry.

Cut pieces of pattern paper; apply adhesive. Add to Business Card Holder and behind Scallop Altoids Insert Cover.

 

Add border strip, stickers and enamel dots to front of Business Card Holder.

Create white card stock pages to fit the size of the Scallop Altoids Insert Cover. Punch holes in prepared pages and thread with ribbon.

Add front of prepared Scallop Altoids Insert Cover; tie bow. Add sticker to front with pop dots. Add enamel dots.

Simple Business Card Holder

Hi everyone, Angela here with a really easy project for you. I was in need of a business card holder for a new project I'm working on so I decided to put together and decorate the one I got from Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts.

Here are the bits for the holder laid out on my bench:

Once I had established that I knew what piece went where... I know, I can hear you saying "there are only 5 pieces for goodness sake", believe me I can get that wrong very easily! ...I took the thing apart to decorate.

First I gave each piece a coat of Brushed Pewter distress paint on both sides. I took one of the Mixed Media Fragments Retro and laid it down like a stencil and drew round it with a sharpie on what was to be the inside of my finished piece.

I used the same sharpie to colour the pattern in.

I used a paint brush with a blob of paint on my glass mat to paint round the edges.

I then glued all the pieces together and used the same "fragment" as a stencil again but this time I painted in the gaps. I used a small paint brush and squeezed a little paint out on to my glass mat then applied this in each space from the middle outwards. This was to stop the wet paint running under the chipboard fragment.

Once I had painted the outside I decided that the inside was too bright so I went over it with a thin coat of the same "Seedless Preserve" distress paint that I used on the outside.

As you can see I had to place my business cards in side ways as they are not a standard size card (note to self - need to make new business cards to a standard size lol).

Business Card Holder by Susan Killam

Hi folks!  With a couple of shows coming up I decided to upgrade my clear lucite business card holder.  I'm so happy with my new Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Business Card Holder!

You probably know I'm a paper hoarder.  We all have that in us!  Years ago Prima came out with a line called "Fairy Flora".  I wish I'd purchased more than one 6" x 6" pad because it is in my Top 5 Favorites Of All Time.  (Ok, I don't actually have a written list of favorites.  Really, I don't.  *ahem*)  I was able to complete this project using mostly just saved scraps from projects past.

The business card holder comes with 5 pieces and is super simple to assemble.  The side and bottom panel are 3 different sizes.  Obviously the short goes in front, but the other two are interchangeable.  I chose to use the tallest one for the base to allow for the most amount of cards on my show table.

I used one full sheet to mark the side pieces.  It's that gorgeous paper on the left... now I only have one full sheet of it and I'm going to hoard it!

Next I cut out the rest of the inside and outside pieces.  Notice I didn't cut an inside piece for the small front panel.  I used an X-acto type straight blade to cut the inside notches.  Get as close to actual hole size as possible so you don't have assembly problems later.  Everything else was cut by hand (instead of the paper trimmer) since I knew I'd be sanding edges later.

A matte medium glued the paper to base pieces.  You can use any glue for this step.  It's a good idea to glue the interior side pieces on first so you can clean up the holes if necessary.  That fit is important later.  After it dried for a bit I sanded the outer edges so they didn't hang over the base pieces.  The black super-fine sandpaper finished the surface nicely.

Next I used brown ink to "age" those edges and pulled out the white glue to assemble.

The side and bottom pieces fit into the walls relatively easily.  This is where the excess paper could have been an issue.  It was a little fiddly to get the second side wall on without smearing the glue, but that's to be expected.  Once in place make sure all your joints are close and tight.

For a little embellishment in front, I used a piece of the Leafy Swirl.  I painted it green and layered Peeled Paint glitter and Glossy Accents.  I think those three steps took longer than the business card itself! :)

Here are the inside and back views.  That back view is my favorite and the one I'll see the most.  I'm crafty like that.  *wink*

Business Card Holder

 Hello everyone.  Gina here and today I am sharing a business card holder I made for my daughter in law, who recently opened her own business.

 I began by laying out my pieces and doing a dry assembly.  I decided which of my paper pieces would need slots cut and which would not.  I traced my pieces on the patterned paper (I used Authentique's Elegant Three). Remember that you do NOT want to cover the tabs on the pieces so all of the sides and bottom pieces will be cut as simple rectangles.

 After cutting out my paper I moved to the paint stage. Only the edges of the pieces were going to show so I used an acrylic paint pen to paint these.  The raw edge soaks up the paint and it does take two coats for a smooth well covered finish.

 Next I applied the paper to the inside of the ends of the holder.  These are the pieces that I cut the slot holes in.  I used Scotch Quick Dry adhesive (in the fine line applicator).

 I assembled the business card holder using the same adhesive.

 I applied the paper to the inside of the holder.

 And finally to the outside of the holder.

 For some added decoration I used a frame from the Postage Frames set

 and a corner from the Victorian Corners 2 set.

 I colored these black using a Sharpie marker and sealed them with a coat of Diamond Stickles (who doesn't need a little sparkle on their desk??).

I printed a family photo for the top frame and used another piece of the patterned paper to fill the lower frame.  I attached the frame to the back of the holder and the corner to the front of the holder, adding a punched piece of paper for layering.

Blending Tool Holder by Ginny

Hey there Peeps!  Just dropping in to share a fun little tutorial using the Business Card Holder to contain my two most used blending tools to keep them on top of my work desk without getting ink on the table.

The card holder fits two of the tools fit side by side and keeps them within easy reach.

 I lined the bottom with paper which can be switched out if it becomes too inky but since I use Gathered Twigs and Black Soot most often there's no worry about contaminating the felt pads with other colors if I just leave the original piece in.

 

I finished the sides with the same paper but with larger sections of the pattern to take advantage of the big beautiful blooms.

I added a few large and small blooms, an enamel brad and a loopy twine bow and that was just a perfect amount of embellishments to make this practical display pretty and a great addition to my work desk.

Here's a few steps I took to create this project...

After choosing the chippies I wanted to use I gave them a good wipe down with a dry cloth to prepare them for finishing.

Using the outside pieces I traced the half oval shape onto the patterned papers and trimmed. The holder was assembled and painted a pretty soft blue to coordinate with the paper. The remaining elements were given a base coat of crisp white to prepare them for additional steps.

After applying the embossing dabber I sprinkled on pretty powder and used the heat gun to set.

I attached the chippies to the holder and finished with the embellishments.
