Dreaming of a White Christmas

Hi Everyone,

 

My favorite day of the year is coming up.  Each year my mum and my  sister come to my house for cookie day.  We bake all day long, I'm talking like 7am-9pm.  We have our favorite recipes we use year after year.  We keep those in a little notebook.  We do like to try new recipes each year too.  More and more often we are finding new recipes on the internet.  I thought it was the perfect time to make a Christmas themed phone/tablet holder so we don't get baking supplies all over our phones.
 These phone holders are so easy to put together(there are only three pieces). They would make an awesome gift!

Paint the base white.  Make sure the edges and at least one side are really well done since they will be exposed.  Paint the edges of the other pieces white too.  The other two pieces get covered with patterned paper.  I used some of the Tim Holtz Christmas wallpaper to cover the back piece.  This paper looks and feels like real wallpaper.  It's nice to add the tiny bit of texture to the project.

These snowy flourishes are coming to the shop soon.  You get two in a pack.  Paint both pieces white, then cover them with a clear glitter.  

Insert the pieces into their slots. Don't forget to add a bit of glue to hold them in securely.   Technically your piece is completely put together at this point.  But we will embellish this! Glue the snowy flourishes to the back of the piece.  Then cover the base with Grit Paste from Ranger.  While the paste is wet sprinkle on clear glitter.  Leave the space where your phone will sit paste free.  

Paint a tiny resin snowman and cover him with clear glitter.  Add teeny mercury glass holly berries to his hat.  While the grit paste is wet stick the snowman in the paste.  In front of the small piece of chipboard add a Christmas saying.  Again, do this while the paste is wet and it will dry in place.  

On the back add a couple bottlebrush trees, teeny presents, a deer, and peppermints.  Another Christmas sentiment will complete your project.

This past week, I started at a new school. It's been a while since I had my own classroom, so it has been a lot of fun decorating, and my skills as a paper designer have definitely come in handy.  Unlike my craft desk at home, I like to keep my work desk very neat and organised, but something I have already noticed is that I keep putting my  phone down  during the day, and it gets hidden under math papers and kid drawings.

To try to combat the problem, and to make my desk look pretty, I have created this holder for my phone with the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts ipad and phone holder. This is actually the second one I have made. I also made one for my son a while ago. This is a simple three piece set that has so many possibilities for decorating.

I upped the decorative aspect of this project by adding a pretty Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Flourished Frame- Valerie rectangle to the back panel, giving the project a little more height, then decorated the project with a vine piece from the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts  Leaves and Flourishes set, along with paper leaves, flowers and mesh.

To create this project, I applied black ink to  the raw edges. I then glued pretty patterned paper to the base and both sides of the back panel. The paper pad I used also had some die cut borders, which I used on the small front panel. Once dry, I slotted all the pieces together and secured with liquid adhesive.

For the frame, I first gave the whole piece a coat of silver gilding wax. Next, I put liquid adhesive around the inner frame and sprinkled with glass glitter and mica fragments. I lined the back of the frame with co-ordinating patterned paper. I may even add a small photo into the frame at some point, but it is also nice on its own.

Finally I took the leaf flourish and coated it with silks paint in two shades. I used a cotton tip to apply the paint so that I could blend the two shades a little. Notice how I have glued it so that it is on both the front of the small panel, and on the base. I then tucked some mesh around the leaves and added small paper leaves and roses. I continued this onto the back left of the project and the top right to create a visual triangle.  A white ribbon bow was the final touch.

Steampunk Inspired Phone Holder

Hello!! Jennalee here today with a masculine Steampunk inspired Phone Holder. It's not often my hubby is the recipient of my work, but this week I made this project specifically with him in mind.

Start by cutting paper down to size and apply adhesive. My Xyron made this step super easy!! 

Apply paper to base and back of Phone Holder. Use a sanding block to smooth any overhanging edges and add distressed detail. 

With Black Soot Distress Ink add a bit of detail to the edges. 

Flip base over and remove paper from the holes the tabs go into. 

With Black Soot Distress Ink color the front piece of the Phone Holder. Using strong double sided adhesive apply the Tim Holtz Metal Measurement.

Apply Distress Collage Medium to the tabs of the front and back pieces and insert in slots. Allow to dry and set up. 

I added a word sticker to the top left corner that says "hello there" and a Tim Holtz Hinge Clip and a few Pocket Cards for a little spot for notes. Floral Phone Holder

This month I decided to make something a little less elaborate, but it's one of my favourite products from Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts: the Tablet/Ipad/Phone Holder

I have three of these Phone holders around my house and I use them every day.

I know, I know... "but I could just prop my phone against something." That's what I thought too, but I really do love my little holders, use them daily and find them so useful.

Plus, it's a fun little project to work on. A little project to express your own style that takes up just a short time, a very few supplies, and is practical! Woo hoo, right?!?!

You can get as elaborate or restrained as you like. Create something to suit your own style and tastes... but here are all the supplies I used to create this version of the Tablet/Ipad/Phone Holder.

Sugar and Spice Phone Holder

Hi everyone!! Jennalee here today with a baking themed phone holder. Fall always brings the urge to bake. I find most of my recipes while scrolling thru Pinterest. So when it comes time to bake I usually just pull the recipe up on my phone which makes this phone holder the perfect kitchen accessory for me.

I come from a family that loves to bake so I dug into my box of old family recipes. Don't worry I made photocopies of the originals.

I started by painting all of the pieces front and back with Cracked Pistachio Distress Paint. I did two layers on the bottom side of the base. 

I made copies of all of the recipes I was considering using. Some of the recipes were lighter than I wanted. I added a little touch of vintage using instant coffee in a spray bottle. To help blend the edges of each card on the project I added a bit of Distress ink to the edges of each card. 

Once I figured out the placement of my recipe cards I adhered them to the phone holder using Distress Collage Medium and a palette knife. Make sure when adhering your paper to not cover the tabs. Once the Collage Medium dried I went back in with an exacto knife and cut out the notch holes on the base piece. 

I found a wooden die cut in my stash that says "sugar" I painted it in Abandoned Coral Distress Paint and adhered it to the phone holder. I left the edges the natural color of the piece. 

I added a strip of vintage Savers Coupons on the base. Using my finger and the same Cracked Pistachio paint from before I added some paint to edges of the piece and where seams of the cards met.  Before assembling the phone holder I used a brush and applied a layer of Distress Collage Medium to all of the surfaces to help protect the piece.

I used Beacon 3 in 1 adhesive to attach my pieces.
