Hello their friends and crafty peeps! Ginny here to share a fun and festive holiday greeting card.

I'm using layers of chipboard here to create a very dimensional frame for the Christmas sentiment.

Pretty coordinating flowers to fill in this corner.

To keep these layers from looking busy I altered them with different finishes.

You can never have enough flowers. 

It worked out perfectly that the journal card cut apart was almost exactly the size of the opening of the frame. Gotta like when you have good luck.

I love the depth and dimension I get from multiple layers of chipboard.

The sentiment is a bit of a faux chalkboard so I knew it would look great with a flat white acrylic paint.

I'm starting with the Flourished Frame Valerie Rectangle and the Stars and Flourishes Border and Corner Set. I've wiped them down to prepare them for altering. The frame is finished in flat white acrylic paint and the flourishes are coated with silver embossing powder and heat set to result in a nice shiny detail

This past week, I started at a new school. It's been a while since I had my own classroom, so it has been a lot of fun decorating, and my skills as a paper designer have definitely come in handy.  Unlike my craft desk at home, I like to keep my work desk very neat and organised, but something I have already noticed is that I keep putting my  phone down  during the day, and it gets hidden under math papers and kid drawings.

To try to combat the problem, and to make my desk look pretty, I have created this holder for my phone with the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts ipad and phone holder. This is actually the second one I have made. I also made one for my son a while ago. This is a simple three piece set that has so many possibilities for decorating.

I upped the decorative aspect of this project by adding a pretty Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Flourished Frame- Valerie rectangle to the back panel, giving the project a little more height, then decorated the project with a vine piece from the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts  Leaves and Flourishes set, along with paper leaves, flowers and mesh.

To create this project, I applied black ink to  the raw edges. I then glued pretty patterned paper to the base and both sides of the back panel. The paper pad I used also had some die cut borders, which I used on the small front panel. Once dry, I slotted all the pieces together and secured with liquid adhesive.

For the frame, I first gave the whole piece a coat of silver gilding wax. Next, I put liquid adhesive around the inner frame and sprinkled with glass glitter and mica fragments. I lined the back of the frame with co-ordinating patterned paper. I may even add a small photo into the frame at some point, but it is also nice on its own.

Finally I took the leaf flourish and coated it with silks paint in two shades. I used a cotton tip to apply the paint so that I could blend the two shades a little. Notice how I have glued it so that it is on both the front of the small panel, and on the base. I then tucked some mesh around the leaves and added small paper leaves and roses. I continued this onto the back left of the project and the top right to create a visual triangle.  A white ribbon bow was the final touch.

I started with the Valerie frame.  I used a chalkboard pen to paint it white. 

 Than I added a vintage cameo pin and my ribbons.

 I than added flowers and  some buttons. 

 I than added a vintage bird to the middle of my bows.

Flourished frame Valerie Rectangle

Hello crafty folks! We all have special people in our lives, but here are some friends who are so much more than just special-they are extraordinary treasures, and this canvas I created with some beautiful GSL products celebrates them and the amazing bond we have with them.

After I chose the quote, I found a frame that looked beautiful with it (Flourished Frame Valerie Rectangle) then arranged other items on the canvas until I liked the placement.

I then primed the canvas and items with gesso; for flowers it is often best to prime them separately and then attach them to the canvas, as it can be difficult to get full coverage if you can't hold them at different angles while painting.I stenciled with texture paste before priming the canvas as well; even though the homemade texture paste is white, it is more porous than the primed surfaces so would absorb more mist and be darker than the rest. Items with deeper colours might need an extra coat of gesso (like that yellow metal flower!); you want the surface to be pretty much all the same colour before you add mists.

Often a quote, photo or other image/focal item is added after misting, but if the framing makes it necessary to add it before hand, be sure to mask the item before you mist! Believe me, no matter how careful a person is, there will be overspray if you don't!! (YES, I learned that the hard way!!) I just cut a piece of scrap cardstock to fit the opening.

Misting is fun! I used a couple different shades each of pink and peach, then added some opaque white to tone the colours down a tad. You can dab with a paper towel if the mist pools look darker than you'd like also.

I added a few glass bubbles and some pink microbeads. The microbeads don't show up a lot but they do add a little bit of different texture.

I enjoyed putting this project together and hope it gives you some ideas. I love using the lasercut doilies on my mixed media projects to add subtle texture, and there are so many great pieces available  that I'm sure you could create a canvas like this with any theme you wanted. Style All Occasion Greeting Card

Hey Peeps! Ginny here dropping in to share an ultra feminine card I created with some fabby GSL chippies, printed papers, ribbon trims, and flowers.

I created a great layered look by stacking the flourishes on top of the frame.

The finish in crisp white helps to brighten the darker patterned papers.

I got lucky that the opening of the frame was just perfect for this cut apart sentiment.

Adding the crackle medium allowed me to include a peekaboo layer of gold paint for a very shabby aged look that compliments the florals.

This effect was really easy to accomplish with a few simple steps.....

These chippies were both fairly detailed but they have a different scale so they do not compete with each other. The smaller pieces were from the Flourish Set Amanda..I just snipped the longer section into two.  First step was a base coat of metallic gold paint. After drying I added a layer of crackle medium and allowed that to dry as well. Last but not least top off with flat white acrylic paint and wait for the magic to happen. I love to watch the cracks appear!!!

Off to the Races Cards

Hi everyone!  I have a couple of cards to share with you today.  When I saw the new frames and the horses shape set from Gypsy Soul Lasercuts, I knew I had to pair it with Graphic 45's Off to the Races paper collection.

Let's take a look at the first card.  I cut a piece of Rusted cardstock to 4-1/2" x 12", folded in half to make a 4-1/2"x6" base card.  I matted the card front with the blue print paper cut just slightly smaller than the card base.

Paint the Flourished Frame Valerie Rectangle with Cascade chalk paint, using a foam dauber or blending tool.

Cut out one of the images from the paper collection and glue it behind the frame.

Paint the double ended arrow leaf shape (shown below) with Spanish Moss chalk paint.

Glue the double ended arrow leaf shape to the center top of the frame.

Cut out the words "Off to the Races" from the paper collection, mat with a slightly larger piece of the green print paper, and adhere over the center of the double ended arrow leaf shape, as shown.

I selected two horse shapes from the set and first painted them with the carbon black chalk paint.  Then I added a coat of the deep brown creme wax to add a bit of depth to the color.

A border print was cut from the paper and adhered along the bottom edge below the frame.  Fussy cut some roses and leaves and layer with foam dots in a bouquet, as shown.  The horse was also glued to the bottom edge of the card.

Let's take a look at the second card.  

I cut a piece of Rusted card stock to 8-1/2" x 11, folded in half for a 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" card.  I matted the card front with two scraps of print paper and layered to fit just slightly smaller than the card front.

I just wanted a small portion of the Doodle Frame Square, so I cut it apart where the arrows are shown below.

I painted it with the Cascade chalk paint, using a foam blender tool.

I cut out one of the images from the print paper, matted it with black card stock, and adhered to the upper left side, using the piece from the Doodle Frame Square along the right edge, as shown.

Next, adhere the horse shape to the lower left, just below the print image.

I chose four floral shapes from the Doodles Set 1 and painted the three flowers with Burnt Orange chalk paint, the leave with Spanish Moss chalk paint.

I arranged them along the lower right edge of the card, as shown, and added a gold gem sticker to the flower centers.
