A Mid-Century Modern Memento Album by Betsy Skagen

A talented friend of mine has taken on the challenge of giving her entire house a Mid-Century Modern updo with only inexpensive secondhand goods.

Her ingenuity impressed me so much that I thought she should memorialize her project with a mini album. As a surprise for her, I made this little album so she could paste in before and after pictures, make notes of her awesome estate sale finds and even add in inspiration and ideas from magazines.

The best part about this project is that I was able to do something nice for a friend, without going to a lot of cost or time.

To make your own Mid-Century Modern Album, begin with an empty spiral bound album.
Cover the front and back with a coat of white acrylic paint.
Apply Molding Paste to the front through a stencil with repeating shapes. As you can see from my photo, there are inherent dangers in working in the great outdoors. After the paste dries, repeat with another stencil on the back cover.
While the paste is drying, paint the Mixed Media Fragments Retro with assorted colors (preferably following Mid-Century color palettes).
Give the front and back cover, including the raised stencil surfaces, another coat of white paint. After it dries, paint the raised stencil surfaces in another color.

Adhere the Mixed Media Fragments and translucent Dew Drops to the front and back covers.

Use your computer to design a title graphic for your album. Print and adhere to the cover. Outline the edges of your Mixed Media Fragments in a darker shade. I used Distress Markers to do this.
Add Atomic Atomburst and Atomic Coordination paper to the inside front and back cover.
That's all there is to making this quick and easy book.

Say Cheese Album Cover

Hello, Friends! It's Gloria with you today. I am sharing an amusement park themed brag book as my project. I found this 5 3/4" x 8 1/4" binder in my stash. It is a little ring binder, perfect for making a brag book or autograph book commemorating a trip to see "the mouse."
I thought it would be fun to decorate the cover with some fun chipboard and Disney-themed items. I added all sorts of goodies to the front of this little book. It makes me happy just to look at it!

To decorate the cover, you need the following Gypsy Soul Laser Cut items:
I really like the photo frames. This one has cut-out words at the bottom! You could place a photo into this instead of the "sign" that I used.
The  Say Cheese Shape Set has tons of cool stuff to add to the project. I only used a few items from the pack. I can make a lot more projects with what is left over! I used the camera shape and added a graphic behind the camera opening.
I just adore the cut out panels! I added a decorative paper clip to the edge of the "snap shot" panel. I also added a decorative brad to the photo reel. It looks very cool with black paper behind, and the fancy brad in the center!
I added decorated paper to the inside covers, too. I found some photo reel paper in my stash! How cool is that?!
The back is plain, with just a piece of the film strip attached.

Steampunk Spells Mini Album

Hello steampunk fans! It is Gloria with you today, and I have a remarkable mini album to share!
This project is a joint project with Graphic 45 and GSLCuts. G45 is a sponsor here at GSLCuts and many of us on the GSLCuts team enjoy using their papers!

I have created a 6" x 6" x 2" mini containing 18 pages (36 sides). This little gem is chock full of pretty papers and awesome chipboard embellishments! This is the perfect project for photos and journaling. Display this beauty on a shelf or easel for maximum enjoyment!
Each page contains pockets or tags or ephemera. It is a steampunk-ers dream.
The spine sports a metal door plate and knob, plus two wonderful metal keys.
You need the following Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts embellishments for this project:

Mini Bird Cages

For a full supply list, scroll down to the bottom of the post.
The front of this album is packed with metal charms, grungy steampunk chipboard shapes, and flowers. To create the large, butterfly embellishment, ink one Butterfly of Gears with black pigment ink. Cover the shape with Black Soot Distress Embossing Powder and heat set.

For all the other chipboard shapes in the album, either keep them "raw" or color them with a black marker or black ink. I sprayed a few shapes with black glimmer mist. See the printable tutorial for specific directions. (COMING SOON!)

The inside front cover contains an envelope for hidden journaling or photos. I have used two of the corners from the Wrought Iron Set to decorate the envelope.
The inside back cover also contains a pocket for a square tag. This pocket is decorated with a spectacular Steampunk Gentleman. I sprayed this shape with glimmer mist and weighted it down with some heavy books so that he could dry flat.
This is just a sneaky peaky of all the chipboard shapes contained in this book!
To see all the pages of this wonderful, little album, check out the video!
You can also print a step-by-step project sheet for this project. Click HERE to print the tutorial.

All Hallow's Eve Spooky Mini Album by Pam Bray

Hi Pam here today on the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Blog. Today I am sharing with you  a fun and easy All Hallow's Eve Spooky Mini Album using the Bracket Edged Stagger Mini Album. I began by first covering all the pages with pattern paper. Ink all the edges with brown ink.

Apply Boss Gloss to chipboard Spooky Shape Set; apply embossing powder. Heat set.

Add journal pieces and border strips from the pattern paper to pages of mini album.

Create a few hidden pockets to create interest.

Some border punch will give fun and simple details for each page.

Add frames and embossed pieces to the pages.

Do some line work on plain card stock will give your mini frames a fun look. Adding fussy cut images using pop dots also give interest and depth.

Place embossed "Spooky" from the Spooky Shape Set to the back cover of the All Hallow's Eve Spooky Mini Album.

I hope I have inspired you to check out all the fabulous altered albums and Halloween pieces that are available in the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Store. Thanks for stopping by. Hugs Pam
