Junk Journal Pocket . . .

I adore junk journals
and am in a constant state of collecting
to use with them.

A few days ago, I found this 5x7 envelope in my stash.
Perfect for a junk journal page!

Since most of my junk journals
have to do with nature & entomology,
I decided to use the

There are other sizes available here:

After wallpapering one side of the envelope
I cut the Honeycomb in half to create a side-pocket.

But . . . it needed some paint first.

Layer 1:
Paint the honeycomb with a coat of
Prima Rust Effect Paste (color = Dusty).
This will give the honeycomb some texture.
Let dry thoroughly.

Layer 2:

I mixed (but not too much) two colors of
Prima Rust Effect Paste
and pounced the color over the honeycomb.

You can really see the texture once the
Yellow Rust & Red Rust
are added.
Let dry thoroughly.

Although I love the color,
it needed to be toned down a bit.

Layer 3:

To tone the honeycomb down a bit
I sprayed with Distress Stain
just around the left edge and bottom.

There was lots of spray left on my craft mat
so I grabbed a tag and coated it with
leftover spray.

Here's the end result for the honeycomb:

I added it to the front of the pocket
and
on only 2 sides to form a tuck behind.

Then to add things to the tuck behind
including these skeleton leaves
(coming soon).
Painted with Prima's Dark Olive Rust Effect Paste
I added a bit of Peeled Paint Embossing Glaze
to the top of each.

The honeycomb needed some bees.
The largest bee was used on the tag.
I embossed the bee using one of the
brand new (coming soon)
Art Foamie Stamps
from
Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts.
It was stamped on the raw chip
with
VersaMark
then embossed with
Distress Embossing Glaze.
I love this patterned stamp!

The smallest bee was embossed with
Gold Glitter Embossing Powder.

The large bee was glued to the top of the tag.
The gold bee was placed on top of the honeycomb.

And everything was slipped behind the
honeycomb tuck behind,
ready for a journal page.

and coming soon
Art Foamie Stamps
Skeleton Leaves

Thanks for sharing your time with me.
See you in a couple of weeks.

  2. This is just fabulous. Love the earthy colour tones and then that warmth from the honeycomb. The glossy meadowflowers catching the light are right up my street.
