Springtime Tag Tutorial

Hi it's Elle (empireofthecat) again and this time I have this Spring-inspired tag tutorial for you.

Spring is almost here or so I am told, so let's make something to welcome it!

We are going to be using a very large tag base, and this spring shapes chipboard set from GSL.  I am also using my precious Fresco chalk paints, some stamps and a few different mediums, so let's get started. These tags are BIG!  There's a ruler marking along the bottom of the photo if you don't believe me!

And this sweet spring shapes set has so many useful shapes included

I started by choosing and arranging the shapes I wanted to use on the tag and once I was happy with the layout, started to stick them down using Collage Medium and allowed it to dry.

Then I covered everything in white gesso.

Once the gesso was dry, I added a layer of crackle paste and left that to dry overnight.  Here's a close up of how it looked the next morning.

It was then time to start painting, and I had a colour palette in mind, so I pulled out some of my Paperartsy Fresco Chalk Paints and got started.

I covered the whole tag with this gorgeous sky colour.  Here's a close up of the bird again so you can see how it looks with the paint on top.

Don't forget to also decorate the back of the tag!  I painted this side with Stone paint.

Then when it was dry, did some stamping using this Rubber Dance set and some green Archival Ink.

 OK, so now it was time to get back to work on the front of the tag. I don't have any more photos of the painting process but you can see the colours I used here.  I also added some stamping of little dragonflies and text to the background using the same green Archival.

And another close up of that birdie and the paint splatters I also added to the tag.

I love this paint as it dries super fast so I could move on and find some ribbon to add to the tag.

Shabby Spring

Hello, this is Yolie, it's Spring time! Looking forward to warmer weather, but not the Spring Sneeze, thank goodness for paper flowers.
Today I'm sharing a shabby Spring card using Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Delicate Frames & Ornament Shape set  and Vine & Wire Frame.

I used a Chalky White paint to paint the butterflies, butterfly frame and the wire frame.

Before the paint dried completely, I pinched the butterfly wings for dimension.

Layered the card with different pattern paper and distressed the edges with scissors. I added the butterfly frame to the center opening of the wire background and added an extra butterfly for even more dimension.

I added jute behind the  paper flowers and scattered gold rhinestones throughout the card including the butterfly frame.

Just Because

Hi Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts peeps.  Cherry Here today. How's your Summer going?

I have a cute sunshiney yellow card to share. 

 I first painted my chipboard pieces with yellow chalk paint.  When I know I am gonna get the hands dirty I will paint other pieces so they are ready for future projects.  In this project I used the leaves and frame.

 Next I covered my card stock with some fabric scraps, my sentiment, and ribbons.

I than added my vintage trim and my Square Doodle Frame

 Next I added my Skeleton leaves 1

From there I added my florals and my other sentiment and was done!

Farmhouse caddy by Cherry Nelson

Hello mid week and hello Gypsy Soul Laser Cut Peeps.  Cherry here with a fun project for you today.  Do you love farmhouse goodies?  I do.  My dream has always been to live in an old farmhouse.  While I can't at the moment do that...the next best thing is anything that makes your home feel farmhouse.  I started with the Tool Caddy.

I painted the whole caddy with grey chalk paint.  From here I adhered all my pieces using my Beacon glue.  

 Using my vintage iron to keep the corners glued together...hey whatever works...right?

 Next I traced all my papers by using the caddy as my template and cut the paper out.  I also painted one of my little embellishments the stackable labels shape set with white chalk paint.

I than adhered my papers and distressed the edges a bit.

I then added my  cow recipe card to the front of the caddy and added my farm faux typewriter keys to the top of a label.  From here I created a couple of fun little matching tags to tie to the top of my caddy and painted a little mini mason jar that just happens to have a cow on it as well and I was done.  Here they are complete.
