Vintage Girl Greeting Card

Hello there friends and crafty peeps! Happy Sunday to all of you! I'm just dropping in to share a card I created with some fabby chipboard from Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts.

I chose the Rose Leaves chippie as I  wanted to try stamping on the surface and I really liked that it was wide enough to show a pattern.

Polka dot was an obvious choice for this vintagy inspired card.

I topped the chippie with a combination of handcrafted and premade flowers and loopy twine bows.

I found a sweet little metal charm in my stash and was the perfect aged finish to coordinate with the painted chipboard.

And just to show that you can never have enough flowers on a card.....here's a big pile more lol.

I wiped the chipboard down with a damp cloth to prepare it for finishing.

This acrylic base coat is a creamy metallic gray.

Once the base coat was dry I used my anti static tool to brush the surface. I dabbed the polka dot stamp in Perfect Medium then applied it to the chippie. I sprinkled on white embossing powder then heat set it to make it permanent. It was the perfect base for the vintagy elements.

Lily of the valley card

 Hi everyone, just another simple card today with lots of Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts items. They are so easy to use and make a lovely card to give to someone special.

I began by deciding which items I wanted to use on my card and decided on a floral theme, with the lily of the valley being the prominent item.

I began by gessoing  the items to go on the card, then I used distress inks to colour them all, ( you can use any colouring medium you like really, it doesn't have to be inks, paints will do just as well, I quite often mix them).

I started with an 8 x 8" scalloped edge card blank from my stock, and covered this with a paper from my stash which I edged with brown ink. Onto this I stuck the chicken wire which I had cut diagonally, covered with gesso and some white ink, but then dabbed it spasmodically with a pale brown ink. I stuck this to the bottom right hand corner.

I then added the Lily of the Valley onto the left hand side, slightly overlapping the wire. (you will notice from this photo that the Lily of the Valley are yellow, but when I had put all the card together I decided that the yellow was too bright so I toned it down right at the end with some white distress ink)

Next came some pretty floral embellishments. I used ones by Petaloo, but again any flowers can be used, and because they looked like roses I added some rose leaves underneath.

I didn't think that the heart was enough to finish off with so I coloured up a butterfly, adding flat back gems to make it sparkle, and added that just above the flowers.

 Then to finish off I added the heart which I put self adhesive metal accents onto, and also added these to each corner of the card.

This card is really easy to make so I hope it will inspire some of you "beginners" to have a go, maybe with other items from Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts, there are loads of them.

Hello friends! Today I'm sharing a layout that was especially fun to create. The photo is one of my favorites and Wisteria is in my top ten of favorite flowers! The flowers are hand made using dies and the rose leaves are chipboard that has been altered to match the layout and flowers. Today I'm going to share how I altered the chipboard Rose Leaves, but first we will talk about the background of the layout. To create the background follow these steps: Begin by tracing around where the matting and photo will be placed. Add your Mud and stenciling. Allow to dry. Spray the background with Colorations Peacock Feathers. Adhere your photo and mats using cardboard for dimension. Using VersaMark clear embossing ink and 2 colors of embossing powder, emboss your stenciling. Add splatters using Minx in Midnight to your layout. Gesso all chipboard pieces. Spray with Colorations in Peacock Feathers. Emboss with Versa Mark and Utee thick enamal embossing powder. Repeat. When the embossing is set spray with Colorations in Gilded Gold and reheat until it melts into the Utee. This technique will give your chipboard gold metal flecks and give it a wet look. Mon Amour Banner by Pam Bray

Good morning love Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Fans!!!! I am so excited to share that Gina has asked me to join the amazing Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Design Team. I am so excited and had to just share the "love" I have for the amazing chippies that are available in the store!!!

I began my project by cutting 22 pieces of 2" x 12" pieces of scrap chipboard BUT.... if you need chipboard slats please contact Gina at Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts to get them.

Cut 17 pieces of pattern paper and apply adhesive to the back. (I used the Xyron Creative Station to apply my adhesive.) Apply pattern paper to top of chipboard slats, stagger and layer together. Adhere 5 chipboard slats to the back for support. (As above photo)

 Adhere pattern paper to top of each letter.

 Decorate with painted chipboard pieces.

 Adhere matching Mon Amour pieces to top of letters.

Add pattern paper to Heart Mini Display Frame. Paint top piece with carbon paint, allow to dry. 

Apply stickles to the top, allow to dry.

 Add pretty flowers to the letters and Heart Mini Display.

 Adhere more wonderful chippies to the Heart Mini Display.

 Adhere the Steampunk Doily Set to each of the pieces.

Place random gears to the top of each piece. 

 Adhere fun flowers using glue dots.

Fussy cut an image from the pattern paper, layer together with pop dots and place on letter "E".

 Add an image behind painted Heart Word chippy. Place pretty bows on each of the pieces.

You Make Me Smile Card by Gloria

Hello everyone! It is Gloria from Scraps of Life. I am guest designing again this month! 

I went all "NOT Christmas" on you this week, and created a birthday card. 

I think that sometimes it is hard to decide how to use chipboard on cards, therefore I created a card tutorial for you! This card requires a mailing box and extra postage, but just think of the smile on the recipient's face when they get this guy in the mail! The card is 6" x 6" and chock full of techniques, chipboard, and...well...flowers!

 

Start out by creating a 6" x 6" card base from dark brown cardstock. This is a top-fold card, so cut your cardstock to 12" x 6" and score at 6" on the long side. Cut peach paper to 5 7/8 x 5 7/8" and attach it to the card. Then cut the text paper to 5 3/4" x 5 3/4" and attach it to the card. (The paper is Graphic 45 Time to Celebrate, which has been in my stash, unused for ages.)

Use the Chicken Wire 6-inch Panel to create a background. Rub the surface of the chipboard with Burnt Copper, Copper, Bronze, and Verdigris pigment ink, heat to dry.

Use Papaya Cream, Sweet Melon, and Banana Custard pastel pigment ink to color the phrase from the Words and Phrases 2 Set. While the ink is still wet, sprinkle with clear embossing powder and heat emboss. 

Use a paper trimmer or a craft knife to cut the chicken wire panel in half on the diagonal.

Trim balloon print to 5 3/4" x 5 3/4" and cut in half on the diagonal.

Attach the diagonal print paper to the bottom right corner. Attach the chicken wire panel to the upper left corner. Attach the chipboard phrase to the bottom of the card, approximately 1/2" from the bottom edge and 3/4" from the left edge.

Using Fresh Green, Apple Green, Celedon, Mint, and Pistachio pigment inks, pounce the ink onto the Rose Leaves. Continue adding layers of ink until the leaves have a shaded, natural look to them. While the ink is wet, sprinkle the leaves with clear embossing powder and heat emboss.
 

Use a die cut shape, template, or free-hand a banner shape from ivory paper. Stamp a sentiment on to the shape with brown ink.

Position the Rose Leaves as shown and add the sentiment banner above the leaves with foam tape.

Begin to glue on the paper flowers. Start with the largest flowers and work in stages, adding sprays or embellishments as you go. (I always "dry fit" my flowers before hot gluing them to the project.)

Save the flower stems to make "curly-cues" for your flower arrangement. Simply wind the wire around a stylus to create a spring shape. 

Continue to add flowers until you are satisfied. My philosophy is...more is more!

Make sure you decorate the inside of the card. For the top panel, trim balloon paper to 5 7/8" x 5 7/8" and attach it. Trim the postage stamp images and attach to the top of the panel. If desired, add a gift card by attaching it with a removable glue dot.

For the bottom panel, trim peach paper to 5 7/8" x 5 7/8" and attach it to the card. Trim ivory paper to 5 5/8" x 5 5/8" and stamp the center with a sentiment using brown ink. Attach the panel to the card. Trim the left-over chicken wire and attach it to the lower right corner of the panel. Add a few postage stamp images.
