The best chipboard for your covers IV

 Hi everyone!

Myry again and today I'm going to continue show you how frames can be the best for your covers!
I'm going to use this beautiful frame again and the first thing I'm going to do is paint it with acrylic pink and white paint.
I've embroidered this letter with small flowers, and I'm going to do a small sack filled with wadding.
Once finished fit it into the frame and stick it with a resistant glue.
I think it's a lovely idea for journal covers.
I wish you like it a lot!

The best chipboard for your covers II

  Hi everyone!

Myry again and today I'm going to continue show you how frames can be the best for your covers!
This time I'm going to create a glossy finish without Glossy Medium or Glossy Accents.
So I'll be using this beautiful frame and the first thing you have to do is paint it with acrylic paint (brown in my case).

Once dry put a generous and thick layer of white glue with the brush.
Immediately cover the glue with another generous layer of varnish, clear finish or crystal effect acrylic paint using a sponge. Paint gently but pressing just a little.
And begin to dry with the heat tool. Keep a prudent distance so that the effect isn't spoiled due to bubbles. When you see that the "white" has hardened left to air dry all day. If you continue drying it the paint will crack getting another effect.
When it's completely dry you'll see a thick and shiny layer on top of the color that you used as the color base. Love it! Now you just need to stick it to the cover and that's it!
Dare to try!

Altered Relations-A Peek-a-Boo Project

I’m one of many who love finding old pictures at antique stores, online, or if we are lucky maybe our family’s attic. These often have no known name and become adopted as our “Found Relatives”. These are the inspirations for this instillation with a Halloween Twist.

1.  Start by making Photocopies of “Found Relatives” and Transparency of Halloween Masks.

2.  Alter Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts-Lace Frames using Embossing Ink with a Roller Applicator and Allure Oil Rubbed Bronze and Hammered Metal Embossing Powders, Curing with a Heating Tool.

3.  Once Cooled Add Patina Using Acrylic Paint-Copper, Black, Quinacridone Nickle Azo Gold with a Paintbrush.

4.   Place Halloween Masks Over “Found Relatives” transforming them into “Altered Relations”. For this first go around, I taped them to photocopies and printed again.

5.  I traced around inner circle of GSLC Lace Frames and glued “Altered Relations” to back before gluing down to red cardstock using Weldbond.

6.  I dried them flat and was very surprised and disappointed when I looked at them the next day. The glue had bled the photocopies and they were no longer useful.

7.  So, the mother of invention, out of necessity, I had to come up with a second plan.
8.  With new photocopies of “Found Relatives” and new transparency masks, I used Glossy Accents to attach the masks.
9.  Once dry I used a sharpie to trace the new “Altered Relations” and glued them to the center of the GSLC Lace Frames.
10.                Once they were dried flat, I added a layer of Glossy Accent to make it appear as if the GSLC Lace Frames has a Glass Insert.
11.                Final step was to fussy cut GSLC Lace Frames from the Red Card stock.

Some Final Thoughts.
Some projects turn out just as we planned them, others are happy surprises, this one was neither. I am still not thrilled with the outcome but leave it here as a reminder to “walk away and look at it again through fresh eyes.” I think the process and technique has great potential and I am proud of myself for persevering. Much like our genetic families and found families we must take the bad with the good, the easy with the hard. I by far know that I am not perfect and have many idiosyncrasies that some may find annoying, but I am thankful for those who show me grace and companionship. In this season of wearing masks and pretending to be something we are not may we find solace and solitude in those we have chosen to love and those who walk beside us.

Haunted House card

Happy Wednesday my friends.  Cherry here today with a fun project for you created for Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts!!!

A spoooktacular card using some fun chippies from the store including the Haunted House oval and the Lace frame.

I used my embossing tool to emboss both pieces with embossing powder. Usually when embossing I will emboss several pieces so I have them on hand for later.

From there I covered my card stock with papers and layered my chipboard on top and added some ribbons.

I decided to make this card extra special and added some details inside the card.

These pieces are so fun and whimsical.

Here it is done!!!  I love how the Spooky Spooky peeks out from the side of the card.

Hope you have enjoyed my project. Thanks for visiting the GSLC blog today, Cherry

Fall Note Book by Sandy Trefger

Hello! Sandy here today with a quick and fun Fall project. It's early September and it's time to think of Fall projects as the season will actually change on the calendar in just a few weeks.  What I've created for you today is a Fall note book.  I purchased this blank book with Kraft ruled pages and a Kraft paper cover. I believe I bought it last year from Michael's but any blank book will do.  I then colored the cover and added some Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts chippies that I altered. The whole thing was done in under 30 minutes.  Really. I timed myself. Perhaps you'd like to make something similar for yourself.

Supply List:

Instructions:

Step 1:  Punch out all your chipboard pieces and wipe the edges with a damp baby wipe to remove any laser residue.

Step 2:  Use a damp baby wipe and cover the chipboard pieces with Nuvo Embellishment Mousse as desired.  I used gold on the frame and book plate, other colors on the floral piece.

Step 3:  Dab embossing ink onto the frame and bookplate.  Add random areas of embossing powder and use a heat gun to melt the powders.

Step 4:  Alter the front, back and spine of the note book cover using the  Cosmic Brown Nuvo Embellishment Mousse.

Below is how the inside of the note book looks:

Step 5: Apply a bit of a lighter embellishment mousse to the center of the cover such as Lemon Sorbet.

Step 6:  Use Glossy Accents and attach the floral chipboard piece down on to the center of the front cover.  Also attach the frame on top of the flowers.

You may need to place a heavy weight on top of the chipboard pieces to ensure that they dry flat.  I use a vintage iron for my weight piece.

Step 7:  Once the chipboard pieces have dried and are firmly attached to the cover, lightly dry ink Black Soot Distress Ink over the frame.  Also prep the bookplate piece--see step 8.

Step 8:  While things are drying, insert two small metal Tim Holtz brads into the book plate, use wire cutters to clip the brad prongs off shorter so they do not stick out on the sides as these will not be inserted into the cover.   Also apply embellishment mouse to the chipboard rectangle that came out of the book plate as you will use that for your note book title.  Add some embossing powder on to the book plate and heat to melt the powder.

Step 9:  Use a black marker such as a fine Sharpie to write the word "Notes" onto the chipboard rectangle.  Glue it and the book plate to the lower right corner of the book.

Your note book is completed.  If desired, lightly brush some of the black Distress Ink on to the cover in a few areas and then add embossing powder and melt for some added texture.  This would make a lovely (and quick) gift for someone special or would make a very nice book for your favorite quotes.

Thank you so much for following along.  I hope I've inspired you to use some of these wonderful Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts chippies on your projects.  I will be back on September 20th with a fabulous project combining Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts and Canvas Corp Brands 7 Gypsies products.

Happy Crafting!
