My Tree House Rachel Harries

This week I decided I needed to make a tree house, its something I've been itching to do since seeing the tree and house, so this week is the time to do it.
I started off by creating a base, I taped some packaging to a piece of board and then added air dry clay and the tree, I added airdry clay in places on the tree and the trunk as well as creating a bit of a root system, once the clay was dry I added some different textures for interest.

The next thing I did was to give everything a good coat of black gesso and got my first layers of paint work down. I generally put a few layers of paint so I never expect the first layer or two to look exactly right, I am just laying the foundations.

I then started building my House I painted some parts with black gesso as I was putting it together being very mindful not to go anywhere near the areas that adhere together as I didnt want any of those parts to swell with the extra moisture and become difficult to put together. I also added Dormers and window trim. I painted all the elements and added some small pieces of lace to the windows. I then stuck my House into the tree.

I then added a rope ladder that I made with pieces of cocktail stick and some twine.
Next I did more painting and then I made some bunting for the tree using a tiny piece of linen and some sewing thread.
to finish off I popped some lights inside the house and there we go.

For my project I used;
textural elements (balls and chippings)
airdry clay
gesso
acrylic paint
cocktail sticks
twine
thread
small piece of calico
LED lights

Simple chipboards make beautiful pages

Hi everyone!

Myry here and today we're going to talk about how chips can embellish our album pages. Something very simple for some but it can be a challenge for others.
I recommend you to have at least 2 types of chipboards: shapes like hearts, circles... and plants; and to be on the safe side: frames and elements like corners.
Once we've chosen the theme of our pages, we can color our chips. In my case I'm making a mix between vintage and heritage, so I decided to take advantage of the original color and only give it a diffuse touch of brown.
So let's start with shapes and plants. Doodles Set 1 is the most versatile set I've ever used. I love it!
Take a look! All you need is in this set. Place the small shapes between the different elements like flowers, leaves or diecuts, so that they stand out.
No matter how simple may seem, it will always add a special touch to the composition
And of course, some natural elements can embellish very well every page
Let's now move on to frames like this chipboard: Arliss Frame. Don't be afraid to use the frames in different ways: I've used the round frame to make a shaker (turn it over if necessary)
And corners no need introduction: they can decorate any corner; the space for a photo, a frame...
So many possibilities!
I hope it will help you when decorating your pages!
Bye :)

ATC Triptych

 Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Here are three mixed media ATCs I made for Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts.

To create this ATC Triptych, I used a fantastic Dragon Set Shape

I love those dragons; without them, my ATCs wouldn't be so magical.

At first, I cut out three shapes of ATCs (3.5"x2.5").

I used card stock, then chose dragons to be the main point of my ATCs.

I used white gesso to cover dragons and ATCs.

To cover my ATC I chose black acrylic paint, then I used randomly opal magic acrylic paints, then added a texture using stencils and white texture paste.

I used a stencil and texture paste to make an interesting texture to dragons.

I love glimmer mists sprays, so the next step was full of fun.

I dried everything using a heat embossing tool.

To give a shiny look I used a gold wax.

In the end, I coloured a piece of cheesecloth and split it into three parts.

I started to build the ATC and I decided to add some embellishments, words and sisal.

I didn't forget about gold dust.
