Sweetly Scented Houseflies

These little houseflies work hard. They buzz around your house searching for smelly things - got a teenage boy? Then you know what their socks are like! Kitty box? No problem! After-a-party bathroom? Their favorite!
These industrious little houseflies flitter to the funk and let loose the lavender scent in their pretty eyeball flowers on a lovely breeze created by the flutter of their little black glittery fly wings.

Yes, it's a little crazy.
Anyway....
Houseflies!!

Here are the elements I used....
Mini House Shadowbox 3

Petal Corners Minis

I started by painting everything. The inside of the houses I painted white and the rest of the pieces got a coat or two of black. (Except for the shingles and the house numbers)

After the house (outside and back) the wings and the petal corners were painted, I glued the shingles on the roof.
I cut what I needed to fit and started from the bottom and worked up, like a real roofer would. After they dried, I painted the shingles a rich brown.

 

I glued the wings to the back of the house, positioning them carefully and  glued the petal corners to the top gable of the house.

I added some Black Diamond Stickles to the wings, glued a little eyeball to the flowers and glued a small cork to the back of each flower to bring then forward from the back of the house.
Before gluing the flowers down, I applied a drop of lavender oil to the petals of the flowers.
I glued a Faux metal number to the top of the petal corner and some black tinsel garland around the edge of the house. Kind of reminiscent of hairy little fly legs!

Mice like Candy, too. A Mouse Tag Banner - Part One

Now if they can just figure out how to get the lids off the candy jars.........
Hello all, Lora here for Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts with a trio of tiny tags with even tinier mice on them.
Part one of two....first easy peasy tag making. Second, an easy peasy banner made out of the cute tags.

I chose the Small Tag Set and covered seven of the pieces, back and front with pretty pink paper.

 Here is a picture of me messing around with how I want the layout for the final banner...

You can see I settled on using bits of the House Jewelry Pieces and the Petal Corner Minis.
I also used the Faux Metal Number Plates in the picture below.

I also cut little background circles of the paper I used on the backs of the tags to keep a consistent theme running through them, and added some white dots a ribbon a little silk flower at the top. And a tiny little white mouse. So cute!

Halloween Mini Album with Stand

Well hello there friends and crafty peeps! I've got a great Halloweeny project to share today that I had an absolute blast creating.  Might be a record for the number of chippies I was able to add.  I stared with the  Tablet/Phone Stand but instead of using it for it's intended purpose I'm decorating it up to hold a fun and festive Halloween mini album.

 Isn't this just the most spooktacular addition to holiday decor?

The holder looks just as festive without the book. I super love the vintagy pumpkin.

The cover has a layered frame finished to coordinate with the image and patterned papers.

The base of the book is an ATC Folder which has the pockets already built in! Each pocket  holds a tag layered up with the papers and vintage images.

Each pocket also has a folded insert to add loads of real estate for pictures and journaling.

The insides of the inserts have the coordinating papers.

Each insert also has a clip to hold mementos that can be added without gluing them down.

This stand is so perfect for holing the mini album without the worry of it tipping over.

I'm starting with the Tablet/Phone Stand and the ATC Folder. Wipe them down with a damp cloth to prepare them for finishing. I coated them with flat black acrylic paint. I've also got a Doodle Frame Rectangle ready for altering.

The frame needs to be separated to finish. I chose to coat the smaller bits with silvery embossing powder and heated it to set. The inside of the frame is coated in the black paint then stamped with a clear embossing powder and set again. This creates a very subtle effect that's similar to damask pattern.  I've clipped the bottom off the Wrought Iron Fence and trimmed it to fit the front of the holder. I've also brought in some Mini Petal Corners and a pumpkin from the Spooky Shape Set.

The silver embossing powder works for the fence and corners. I've adhered them to the stand then used a metallic paste wax to add a vintgy detail to all the corners. The front of  the pumpkin is covered in orange paint and the back has black. I adhered the pieces then used my alcohol markers to add detail. The leaves have green paint. On the finished project I added Stickles to highlight the details.

Jess here today with an oversized tag.  

The base of this project is a small Tim Holtz Etcetera tag and the Botanical Journaling Blocks fit on them perfectly! 

 They make a great background piece and really create a nice focal point.  This is the medium sized block and there are three in the set.  

I knew I wanted to use this image and I put a Mini Petal Corner crown on her head.  The crown has been embossed using Seth Apter's Baked Texture powder in Ancient Amber.  I added a brad to the center for her jewel.   

The base tag was covered with paper and then splattered with various paints and inks. 

The journaling block was covered with gesso and then painted using various shades of green and brown.  The spaces between the stitches were inked using a gold gel pen.  

The edge of the frame was inked using Distress Ink in Peeled Paint and then Distress Crayon in Black Soot was used to darken the edge and draw your eye in toward the center. 

The Layered Frame Bella Oval was placed on top of the journaling block.  This frame has a front and a back, but for this project I just used the top piece.  This piece was left completely raw.  I really liked how it picked up the browns in the background paper.  

You can see I played around with the placement quite a bit on this piece.  Things got moved up, down, and all around  

This is what I landed on for final placement.  I used foam tape to attach her since the chipboard frame is directly behind her.  I didn't want her to wind up with a big bump in the middle of her body. 

Flowers were added to the top.

The sentiment was placed in her lap and a brass token was added to the bottom corner to balance the piece.
