Art Journal Page with Guest Designer Tamiko McCurry

Hello EVERYONE!!  Tamiko here and it is my last week as a Guest Designer for Gina's Designs Laser cuts.  It has has been super swell to be here each Wednesday!  If you haven't noticed my style by now, I love color and I loooove sparkle.  You can never have too much of either when you are playing with fairies!  Check out my latest journal page..

I love anything and everything about fairies, then again I am biased because of the color and sparkle/glitter/shimmer factor.  I am not colorful person in clothing, nor am I adorned with sparkley accessories, but my heart is.  My friend Sandee Setliff, an awesome artist, and she reminded me to..  DREAM BIG, Little fairies grant BIG WISHES!  I believe there is a little bit of fairy sprinkling kindness/fairy dust everywhere daily in many of us.

Any who, back to my project.  I covered all my fabulous chippies from Gina's Store with gesso.  You don't have to, but I do, especially when I know I am going to use Design Memory Craft's gelatos.  It allows me to literally apply color and rub with my finger.

Here I took the Dressform Hang Ups  and attached it to one of the Ornamental Birdcages Shape Set and a set wings from the Wings Assortment pack.  I colored with gelatos and let sit and dry a bit. I  then added my Design Memory Craft Glass Bead Glitter Gel, becaue it dries clear on the project and allows the intended color from chippies to shine through.  Gina's chipboard/hard board pieces are such an amazing quality and I have tried various mediums on all of them and they had stood up to EVERYTHING I have thrown at it.  Not once did the buckle/pucker/warp during the process, which is very important to me.

Then I added fairies from the small and medium packs.  Believe me.. YOU will want several of these assortments and there is a LARGE TOO!!  Making a new wish list!!!

I love Gina's Store, I am very excited over the projects I have been able to produce over the last few weeks.  Her chippies have allowed me to create things I would not normally even attempt on my own.  With an awesome selection of chipboard pieces and her MORE than affordable prices I will always come back and refer her to friends and fellow crafters alike.  If you get a chance to check out her site! I am more than sure you will find something that tickles your fancy, personally or for a spectacular gift.  Again, it has been uberly awesome to be a guest designer for her and her company.  Please subscribe to her design team's YouTube Channel , they are a talented bunch and don't forget to LIKE her Facbook page by clicking here and join her Facebook group for even more inspiration by clicking here.

Thanks for all of your warm support!

ATC Shrine with Guest Designer Tamiko McCurry

Happy Wednesday folks!!  Tamiko here for my third guest spot for the month of July with Gina's Designs!  Woot Woot!.. I know Frida Kahlo's birthday was earlier this month, but in my family, we celebrate birthdays the whole month!  I was very, very excited to play with my first ATC shrine. Here is a picture of the finished project.

I had so  much fun creating this shrine using the ATC Shrine- Window 1. I just know I need to go back and have ALL of the shrines!! Take a look at how cool and inexpensively priced they are by clicking here!  I can't wait to try this again!  I decided to make a Flipagram   I hope you can see parts of my creative process and enjoy the music.

Did I say how much I thoroughly enjoyed this?  The shrines are created from hardboard. You don't have to wonder about the mediums you apply to it because it can just about withstand anything!!  I am totally impressed!  Now it's your turn to head over to Gina's Designs and Lasercuts and try something different and creative!!

Art Journal Page with Guest Designer Tamiko McCurry

Hey Hey, Happy Wednesday!!  So glad you're taking a moment to check out Gina's blog!  My name is Tamiko and I am the guest host for the month of July!  Ya know, I am totally in awe of the plethora of talent that fills Gina's site!  Her Design Team is awesome and knowledgeable! Well on to my project!  I will be the first to tell you I am guilty of shopping with my eyes and wanting everything new and trendy!  Gina's store is a real call for an #enableralert.  Today's project is art journal page and I hope it makes you smile.

When I saw the Bamboo in Gina's store, I knew I had to have it before I even knew why! I was so glad it came in three nicely sized pieces.  I am using the large Dylusions journal, so that means my pages are 9x12 inches.  I only used one because I like to plan for the future. Yeah that's my story and I am sticking to it! Plus you never know when you need to make a card for a panda loving individual! (haha)  I took my bamboo piece and I covered it with gesso.

Then I took my  page also covered in gesso and began to lay down some color with my Design Memory Craft Gelatos in various shades of blue.  I rubbed it in with my finger and pow.. I had a nicely colored sky!

Proceeded to add some brown and gold gelatos for a ground. To seal and blend my colors, I  activated them with matte medium.  Then I added my bamboo piece and adhered with my Helmar Premium Craft Glue.  After adding several browns and greens to my bamboo I decided I needed a moon and stars for my gorgeous sky.  As it all was coming together I went and drew my first panda on some card stock and adhered him to the page with glue.  While I usually put a quote or something on my pages, this time I chose not to.  What I felt was really missing was a little sparkle in the sky.  I quickly grabbed some Faber Castell Glass Beads Glitter Gel.  That was the sparkle I needed in the sky and on the ground to create the perfect little twinkle to my chipboard pieces!  Here are a few more photos.

I hope you enjoyed  my project and thanks again for stopping by!  Don't forget to stop over at Gina's Designs Lasercuts YouTube Channel for additional inspiration and subscribe while you are there!!

Guest Designer Tamiko McCurry

Hey there good people! I am Tamiko and I am totally honored to be the guest designer for July! Woot Woot! My personal style is kinda urban and brightly colored in ANY and EVERYTHING I do as far my art goes.  I am a mixed media artist and I love to play in my art journal and do other types of paper crafting.  When I first received this, I asked myself am I making this for me or for what other might enjoy and well.. I won, but I hope you enjoy this.  While it might be a memory keeper organizer, for me, for a little while, it will be my pocket letter pal go to!!  I just love the many compartments that will hold all my stuff!!

I  put my units together and went over all the slots and grooves with some craft glue. I let it dry overnight although it was fine after 20 minutes. Coated the units with gesso and once they were dry, my fingers were used to apply the paint. I love getting into my work and how best can you do it, when you use you hands as a brush. As I waited, gesso was brushed on all the rest of the chipboard pieces.  While gesso is not necessary, it did help prime the chipboard for my bright color palette. I also painted all the divider inserts.

Went back to the units and I added layers of stencils (three kinds) and paint with the sponges.  I painted the flowers pieces and stacked them creating my perfect blooms.  Adhered the flowers to the caddy and the organizer and doodles with my black paint marker.  Decided to keep my dividers white and will decorate them periodically with washi tape, maybe!

Let me share a few more pictures with you.

The slots in the caddy are not only perfect for brushes,

my bottles of glue fit perfect!  I can even place a dixie cup or

condiments cup and use that as a catch all under the upside down glue bottles!  How cool is that?

The slots in the organizer are perfect for my small embellishments!

I can prep my slots to contain twine bundles, washi on a card, sticker bundles, stamped images, my tea, coffee or chocolate! Artist trading card (ATC) bases fit perfectly in here! All the goodies I need to prepare a load of pocket letters or quickie ATCs will be right at my fingertips! I have so many ideas and I am so ready to fill both of these fabulous units up!

Ha. YOU and I both can store our stash of Gina's Design Chippies!!

I hope you enjoyed stopping over at the blog today as much I enjoyed creating this project to share with you all.  Again I am so super excited to be here for the month of July 2015 and I can't wait to show you all the possibilities for creating fabulous one of a kind projects featuring Gina's Designs  Laser Cuts.  Have a fabulous week and don't forget to stop by and see what design team is up to!
