Joy Word Tree with Marjolaine

Merry Christmas, friends! I hope you are having an awesome day! Marjolaine here with a short post to show you what I have done with the word tree.

I used silver Zing embossing powder to cover the tree, stringed some blue beads, added some bling, flowers, a few snowflakes and ribbon and my tree was ready to be displayed with the rest of the decorations.

Paris Shadow Box with Marjolaine

Hello friends, Marjolaine here. This week I've been playing with the Paris shadow box and I'm loving how it turned out.

The box is super easy to assemble, I used Zip dry to adhere the pieces together. I used some beautiful napkins and decoupaged them onto the box. I also smeared a bit of gesso on the surface to age the box. Some of the chipboard pieces are covered with Zing embossing powder and distressed with gesso, others are colored with a grey big brush marker.

This little bouquet of flowers is one of my favorite things about this box, I just love the little "vase" they're in. (the jar is sold separately)

Bird Cage with Marjolaine

Hello friends, Marjolaine here. Today I'm scheduled for an off the page project and I thought this birdcage would be perfect. It was super easy to assemble and I'm thinking I would like to make many more for Christmas table center pieces. 

I kept if fairly simple. The cage is painted with two layers of gesso and I used a script stamp on top to add texture. For my roses I used a six petal flower punch and followed this tutorial.

I love antique bird cages and will need to find a special place in my home for it. How about you, where would you display it?

Pennant Banner With Marjolaine

Hello friends, Marjolaine here with a quick banner project! I've been looking forward to making this banner ever since I received it a few months ago. I was so happy to sign up for today's post so I could make it. The banner comes with your choice of word, the paper strips to make the rosette flowers and the corrugated cardboard pennants.

I started off with a thin layer of gesso over all the pieces.

Then I used two different Gelatos to color the pennants.

Added some black to the edges...

...stamped my letters with script and rubbed a little Gelato on them.

Lastly I made the little rosette flowers, (so easy thanks to Gina!) assembled everything together and added some embellishments!

Garden Fairy ATC's by Marjolaine

Hello  friends, Marjolaine here! I'm posting today to show you these amazing little garden fairies from Gina's Designs. They come in three sizes and are so much fun to work with!

For my background I used Prima papers that had fairies on them so I thought they were perfect. I added some idea-o-logy decorative tape and some paint and I was done! I used Gelato on my fairies along with a background stamp and a touch of Stickles on their wings.

I'm dreaming up a canvas to use my larger fairies on!

Hello friends, Marjolaine here! I've been playing with some cool new things this week. First off, these awesome chippies from my latest shipment of Gina's Designs which also came with these fun papers from The Robin's Nest. I also used my new Cricut Events Girls Makeup Party cartridge that I won at a crop.

These were supper easy to make. I didn't bother with the Cricut layers because I didn't want to cover up this beautiful paper. I also wanted to show off Gina's doilies and cameos. All that's left to do is plan a party so I can use these cute invitations!

Dressing up Chipboard Tutorial by Marjolaine

Marjolaine here today with a tutorial on how to dress up your chipboard. Follow along to create unique chipboard pieces for your layouts or artwork.

Color your chipboard with a permanent marker and allow it to dry. You might me tempted to skip this step since you'll be covering it up but it's really important to give your piece good coverage.

Cover your chipboard with a layer of crackle paint of the same color making it thicker in some areas. Allow it to dry.

Apply some distress ink with a blending tool getting the ink in all the cracks. It helps if your ink is a different color than your paint.

Color a different piece of chipboard with a permanent marker and allow it to dry.

Paint the chipboard with a stick of Gelato from the same color family and use your finger to rub the color in.

Add another color of Gelato in random places to add highlights.

Cover your chipboard piece with 3D Crystal Lacquer or Glossy Accents and allow it to dry completely.

Make a dot pattern on your chipboard with the dimensional paint and allow it to dry.

Your chipboard pieces are now finished and will make lovely accents or embellishments for any scrapbook page or mixed media project. Why not try different combinations of mediums, the results might surprise you!

Make it Manly: ATCs by Marjolaine

Hello, Marjolaine here. It's father's day this Sunday so what better time to make some masculine ATCs! Gina's Designs has an amazing variety of manly/steampunk chipboard pieces and it makes it easy to create beautiful projects.

I painted my pieces with Gelatos, an easy and quick way to add color!

Mini Album Display Case by Marjolaine

Marjolaine here today with my mini album display case from Gina's Designs.

Since I was itching for a little mixed media I decided to paint my display case and albums but I'm thinking that it would also be fun to alter this piece with scrapbooking paper. 

I started off by covering the surfaces with music sheets and Mod Podge.

I sanded some of the rougher edges.

Covered the whole thing with gesso.

Added some bold colors of paint.

Stamped on some scraps of paper.

Cut my images out.

Added some texture by randomly stamping all over the case.

Adhered my flowers with Mod Podge.

Added more paint!

Painted the edges black.

Ripped some stems and leaves out of scraps of paper.

Outlined my stems and leaves with a green Big Brush Marker.

And Outlined all my flowers with a black pen.

I did much of the same on the albums but I haven't finished the inside yet. That will have to be for another day!
