Gears Calendar

Today I am sharing with you a calendar I altered. All of the pieces were painted with black acrylic paint. I lightly sanded the wood on the front and then layered card stock intricate steampunk dollies, adhering them with the black paint.

I layered several of the intricate doilies to create the photo mat. The top one was painted black.

The paper used was Die Cuts With a View.

Two papers from the stack that coordinated were used to create the back drop

for the months and numbers.

For the back of the calendar I painted on a textured gears sheet.

The back storage unit holds the extra months and days.

I attached the intricate doilies to the outside of the box with mod podge.

Whimsical Carrousel

Hi everyone, thanks for stopping by the blog! Today I am sharing a fun whimsical
project. I love to see the joy on the faces of children when they go to the
fair or carnival. They all just seem to love to ride the carousels. This is the image that serves as my inspiration for the project.

I started this project by painting all of the laser
chipboard with white gesso. Some of the chipboard was then painted with
black gesso. The large spool was painted then with an ivory chalk paint. After the
chipboard dried, I papered the large spool with the stripped paper and
the diamond shape paper.

The diamond shaped paper was cut into a 12 X 12 circle for the carousel
top. I cut a two strips 2 ½” each and joined them together. After the strip was joined, I then used two of Martha Stewart's punches to put the finishing touches to the strip. A vanilla strip
was added between the two punched edges.  After the strip was attached to the spool top, red-pink bling as well as silver bling was added.  Red
abd silver bling was added at the base of the center column.

The animals where prepped then painted with distress paint:
brown, yellow, ivory and black. The saddles
were added to each of the carrousel animals by using distress stickles, glitter
& glass beads.

Enjoy The Journey

Hello fellow crafters, thanks for joining me today.

Enjoy the Journey is a travel journal.  I started by using the cover of ab old journal I had and adhered  travel paper I had in my stash. When that was completed,  I cut the journal pages out of ivory card stock. Different travel paper  was adhered to each of the pages. I used my Zutter to create the holes & match them up to the journal covers. All the chipboard pieces are painted with white gesso. I then went over the chipboard pieces with ivory paint and I sprayed some of the pieces with different colored sprays.  The front pieces of chipboard were painted black distress paint.

Inside front pages, the chipboard pieces are for journaling.

This piece was sprayed and stamped.

The Eiffel Tower is from the String Alongs - Paris set.

I used a scripted stamp on of the chipboard piece above.

Sweet Summer Layout

Hi, Kathi here to share with you a layout
I have created for Gina’s Designs today.

I am sharing some summer warmth by using
the sweet summer shape

set on this 12 X 12 layout.

The layout
came together easily once I decided the color scheme I wanted to use - blues and greens! All the
chipboard was painted with white gesso. Once the gesso was dry I painted the chipboard
pieces using distress paint by Tim Holtz.

On the sun I used mustard seed distress paint going light in the center
and darker on the ends of the sun rays to give it a contrast look.

The sandbox frame was painted with green distress paint and the pail & shovel blue to match the large pail & shovel.  On the large pail and shovel I applied stickers from the paper

line after the blue distress paint was dry.

Some of the flowers I used were sprayed with a Color Wash spray. and then the arrangement was then glued down with hot glue. I added another title to the bottom center from the paper line.

On the sweet summer title, I use both white, blue & green distress paint.

On the umbrella I used white, blue and green to create the separate colors of the umbrella. I defined the panels by using a dark brown fine line pen.

Thanks for stopping by today!

I had a great time creating this canvas, this canvas started out as a different project, first I used white gesso over the entire canvas, then using a heavy gel medium & the mixed media fragments 2, using the chipboard fragments as masks as both the positive & negative to create different elements on the canvas. After the elements dried I used different colors of color wash, from butterscotch, moss, blue, & red.
