Olde Curiosity Shoppe Steampunk Conservatory by Pam Bray

Happy Saturday Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Fans!!! Pam here today I am sharing my Olde Curiosity Shoppe Steampunk Conservatory using some amazing GSLaser Cuts Chippies!!!

Begin by painting all pieces of  Small Conservatory with Crackle Paint; dry. Repeat with Weathered Wood; dry.

Paint prepared Conservatory with Yellow Oxide; dry.

Apply Quincridone Gold to Conservatory  ; wipe off randomly. Dry.

Adhere pattern paper to base of Conservatory . Glue prepared wall and doors to base. Tape off edges of base; dry brush Paynes Grey to out sides of Conservatory  .

Adhere pattern paper to bottom Cottage Base; add border strips to top and sides of bottom Cottage Base.

Adhere legs to prepared base.

Adhere pattern paper to bottom and top of the Conservatory  .

Adhere top of  Conservatory together. 

Adhere to top of prepared Conservatory  .

Adhere metal ring, nest and knob to the top of Conservatory .

Fussy cut two images from pattern paper. Place one to front of Conservatory . Add pop dots.

Layer second image to top of first.

Apply Boss Gloss to top of Peacock Feathers, Steampunk Fan (Contact Store), Clockwork Penny Farthing and Gears Shape Setchipboard pieces. Emboss with embossing powder.

Apply Metallic Luster to the prepared emboss pieces. 

Fussy cut images from pattern paper, layer together with pop dots. Adhere random flowers, bottles, etc. to stand.

Add prepared embossed feathers to back of steampunk lady. Add fussy cut butterflies to front.

Add knobs to front of doors.

Adhere embossed tricycle, gears and other ephemera to front of stand.

Fussy cut "Olde Curiosity Shoppe" from pattern paper. Add to top of Conservatory   along with fussy cut butterflies.

Apply Metallic Lustre to the knob.

Randomly adhere berries and flowers to the Conservatory . 

Add some ephemera to the top of the Conservatory  .

Add small metal frames to sides of the  Conservatory for added detail....

Add a small lantern. 

Fussy cut words from pattern paper, stagger on top of Conservatory  .

Adhere small embossed gears to the Conservatory .

Creating my own Winter Wonderland by Betsy

                                  Altered Art Winter Wonderland

I live in Minnesota. Cold and snow are a way of life. In fact, Minnesotans don't even think the weather is cold unless our nostrils freeze together when we inhale. (That's our own nostrils freezing together--our noses don't freeze to other random people's noses. Even though the extra body heat might be tempting, Minnesotans are too aloof to willy-nilly start cozying up to people walking down the street. Plus, just imagine people walking around with their noses frozen together. That's just weird.) Even though Minnesota winters often involve double-digit below zero temperatures and heart-attack inducing snowfalls, we currently are enjoying the warmest November on record. It is in the mid 70s here people.

The good news is that my solitary nose and the balmy weather has not stopped me from dreaming up some winter-themed craftiness, such as this Winter Wonderland Altered Art scene.

Tutorial to make Winter Wonderland

Since this will make a great holiday craft, I wanted to share with you how to make the Winter Wonderland Altered Art Scene.

Begin by assembling and gluing the joints of a 9" x 9" x 1" Cottage Base. Cover with white acrylic paint and let dry.

Before removing the excess chipboard, cover the bare branch trees with brown ink, the pine tree with green ink and the fence with black ink. Cut away the excess chipboard and assemble the deciduous trees.

Using the deciduous trees as a model cut a slit in one of the 6" pine trees from the top that extend about two-thirds of the way down the tree. Repeat on the second tree, except this time, beginning at the bottom. Slide the two trees together at the slot to create one three-dimensional tree.

Determine the placement of the trees, mark with a pencil and drill small holes through the Cottage Base.This is where you will run the lights for the trees. As you can see from the pictures below, originally I was going to wire the pine tree, but I later determined that the pine tree looked better without wires crisscrossing it, so I only wired the two deciduous trees.

Attach the trees and the fence using a strong glue. Then add the lights.

Next, assemble and paint the itsy-bitsy teeny-weeny bird house. Just look at how cute this thing is!

The next step is to add the snow to your base, fence and trees. Before the snow dries, add your deer.

Then, once everything is dry, add the birdhouse and cardinal.

You can house the battery packs for the lights beneath the cottage base. I pulled them out here so you can see them.

Indoor Fairy Garden Tutorial by Nichola

It's the first Friday of the month and I have a brand new project and tutorial just for you! This month I'll be sharing how to create your own little indoor fairy garden.

This sweet little cobble stoned garden uses Gypsy Soul's Cottage Base and measures just 9" square. It's a nice size to work on because you can put a lot of detail in that little space, but it's not an overwhelming size to fill or display.

One of the very nice things about this project is that you can absolutely personalize it to make it your own. I've chosen Gypsy Soul's 1:24 scale arbor and Tiny Birdhouse as accessories, but don't let that limit your choices! There are loads of possibilities and you should absolutely make your wee garden to suit your own tastes.

In my example I've used the Cobblestone texture sheet to create the garden path. Again, don't feel limited by my choice. There are loads of interesting texture sheets to choose from, as well as a brick wall sheet that would be ideal.

So, start collecting little garden bits and bobs, teeny flowers and twigs, and let's make an indoor fairy garden!

Walking Dead - Don't Open Dead Inside by Jessica

Hey guys! This week I tuned into my inner horror geek and I bring to you a Walking Dead themed piece of wall art. I used the cottage base for this - and made it into a sort of canvas to hang on the wall.

Made from foam, an off cut of wood and a necklace chain - simple, but effective. 

The whole piece rests on the inside of the cottage base.

These doors are made from foam, which I've textured and painted.

I always cover the outside of my pieces with scrapbook paper to give it a crisp, clean look on all sides, even if part of it will be hidden when hung on the wall.

Love My Beautiful Life Frame by Pam Bray

Hi!!! It is Pam here today on the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Blog!!! I am sharing with you my "Love My Beautiful Life Frame".  As we are looking toward Easter this weekend I wanted to share something special so when I seen the Crosses on the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Shop, well needless to say I thought they were perfect!!!

I began by first cutting a piece of pattern paper and the Textured Flourish Sheet to fit inside the Cottage Base. I ran both piece through my Xyron Creative Station.

Leave both pieces on the adhesive backing. Paint the Textured Flourish Sheet and Love with white paint. Allow it to dry completely.

Take VersaMark and stamp across the painted Texture Flourish Sheet. Sprinke randomly with 5 different shades of embossing powder. Heat emboss.

 Carefully remove the embossed Texture Flourish Sheet and place on pattern paper.

 Form Cottage Base. Remove prepared Texture Flourish Sheet off off adhesive backing and place to inside of Cottage Base.

 Paint Gothic Cross, Flourished Frame Evie, Art Deco Border and Love with white paint.

Emboss the Flourished Frame Evie by inking with VersaMark and randomly sprinkling three of the embossing. Heat emboss.

Emboss the Gothic Cross and Art Deco Border with VersaMark. Sprinkle the Gothic Cross with two of the embossing powder and use only the Garnet on the Art Deco Border. Heat set.

Adhere Intricate Doilies to inside of frame. Adhere prepared Gothic Cross to inside of frame.  Adhere pattern paper strips to the sides of inside of frame.

 Adhere prepared Art Deco Border to inside of frame.  Add metal handle to top of frame.

 Add random flowers, bow, beads and embellishments to the inside of frame.

 Adhere metal corners to the corners of Cottage Base, along with more random flowers and beads.

Adhere prepared  Flourished Frame Evie to top of journal block. Adhere to inside of frame. Add embellishment.

 Adhere small Intricate Doily to top of Gothic Cross.

 Using VersaMark ink "Love" and emboss with embossing powder. Adhere to  Gothic Cross.
