Vintage Cabana Row House

Hi everyone!  Today, I want to share a fun little Summer project using these Cabana Row Houses from Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts.  Not only would these cuties make great mixed media projects or table decorations and favors, but they would also make wonderful gift boxes since the bottom folds up, but does not have to be glued in place.  Hmmmm ... think of the possibilities.  I'm sure you can come up with even more ideas.

When you get the set, look for the tiny alphabet letters (A through E) on each piece to match up the house with its coordinating roof piece.  They are so simple to put together, just fold the house up and attach the roof.

Cut one paper strip 2-3/8" x 8-1/2" and one 2-1/8" x 2-1/8" square.  Cut two triangles for the eaves.  I used the box itself to measure and trace the eaves onto back of paper.

Run paper through Xyron sticker maker and edge paper strips with Evergreen Bough distress ink and foam blending tool.

Adhere paper pieces to bottom section of house.

Place red liner tape along roof and side tabs, as shown.

Adhere a  half round window on each side of house under eaves.  Set aside.

Cut a piece of print paper cut to 2-3/4" x 4-3/4".  Run strip through Xyron sticker maker and edge paper with Vintage Photo distress ink.

Adhere paper to roof top.

Spread a thin layer of  light molding paste through stencil, let dry.

Lightly add Vintage Photo distress ink to paste with blending tool.

Now back to the house.  Remove red liner from taped sides.  Fold side tab in and attach to side of house.

Fold tabs in and close up bottom of house.  You can also tape this in place if you do not plan on using the house as a gift box.

Fold roof tabs in and attach roof.  Glue two small square windows from the Seaside Doors & Windows set to the sides of the house, as shown.

Cut bottom portion of smallest Vintage Ladies Silhouette.

Glue bottom portion that was cut off back onto silhouette, but higher up.  This will shorten the lady and make her size more appropriate for the size of the house.

Use a spatula to apply a thick coat of Heidi Swapp Hot Pink Metallic Texture Paste to vintage lady, disguising chipboard join and swiping lines in the paste to resemble folds of fabric in her dress.  Set aside to dry.

Paint both sides of the vintage bicycle with Vivid True Silver.  Let dry, then add Vintage Photo distress ink, which will give it a coppery look.  Don't cover all of the silver, though.  

Spread light molding paste over hot air balloon and draw lines through paste, as shown.  Set aside to dry.

Paint balloon with Vivid Ultra Metallics, first with Lemongrass, then African Jade, then Pink Azalea, and lastly with Teal Zircon.  Let dry, then lighten the color with African Jade.

Cut a 5" piece of 20 gauge copper wire and adhere to back of balloon.  I used a wet glue and a piece of tape.  Let glue dry before handling.

Turn balloon over and repeat process for opposite side, i.e., add light molding paste, draw lines through it, and color with the Vivid Ultra Metallics.  This will cover where you have added the coper wire on the back.

Make a little twist in the copper wire, as shown.

Use a paper piercer or awl to make a tiny hole in the roof top and insert wire through it.  Add clear drying glue to hold in place.

Adhere vintage lady to left side of house.

Decorate house as you like.  I have added some flowers just below the half round window, and adhered the vintage lady to the left, and the vintage bicycle was added to the right with a foam dot to make it look like it was propped up against the house.

City Scapes Art Journal Pages

Hi everyone!  Barbara here today with a fun art journaling project using both Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts chipboard and Graphic 45's new City Scapes paper collection.  I love how the chipboard adds just enough dimension without too much bulk, perfect for embellishing your art journals.  

Cut two pieces of paper from the Graphic 45 City Scapes collection and run through Xyron Creative Station.  I also ran the top piece from the chipboard hot air balloon through the Xyron, too.

Adhere papers to left page of the art journal, as shown.

Cut a second sheet (red print) to size and adhere to right page.

Place a piece of washi tape down the middle of the journal.  I added a white glue to the tape to make sure it stays in place.

Leave the top piece of the balloon on the Xyron release sheet and paint it with black gesso.

Cut out prints from the G45 paper collection that will fit inside each section.  Here's where your craft mat will come in handy.  Remove the white release sheet from the back of the balloon and stick it to your craft mat.  Start with the prints that will fill the smaller openings and adhere them.  Just lift the balloon off of the craft mat and sit it down onto the prints.

The two larger openings need some extra background paper behind them, so cut out a background paper and adhere behind the two remaining openings.  Then adhere the prints over that through the open section.  Trim excess background paper.

Paint edges of solid balloon back and basket parts.  Adhere solid balloon back to top section.  Adhere G45 paper inside basket opening. 

Paint the mini balloon, jalopy, and word ribbon with brown chalk paint.  Adhere a piece of striped G45 paper to the top of the balloon.

Connect the basket to the balloon with three pieces of twine and glue each to the right side of the journal page.  Add the word ribbon at the top of the page and the mini balloon just below the large balloon.  Add stickers to spell "ADVENTURE AWAITS".

Cut a piece from the wrought iron border to fit the width of the page.

Adhere that to the bottom of the left journal page, along with the jalopy.

Steampunk Style Father's Day Card

Hi everyone!  Barbara here today with an ever-so-easy-to-make Father's Day card with a bit of steampunkery, providing an excellent masculine feel.  Of course, it doesn't hurt that I used the Graphic 45 Good Ol' Sport papers to make it all happen.

Distress and ink edges of 4-3/4" x 6-3/4" G45 print paper with a distressing tool and old paper distress stain.  Adhere to front of 5" x 7" kraft card.

Print collage images (train, Belle Jardiniere) and cut out.  Adhere images with extra layers of G45 paper scraps.

Stamp "Cigars" and pocket watch from the Altered Pages Mailbox Muse Time stamps onto scraps of ivory and green papers, as shown, with black ink.  Fussy cut both images.

These are the GSL chipboard pieces I chose to use on my card.  I colored each of them with various colors of Distress Stains and inks.  In the photo below, I am also showing the metal clock face and spinners that will be attached to the front of the chipboard pocket watch with a brad.  I simply centered the clock over the chipboard and punched a small hole in it.

Each piece was adhered to the front of the card, as shown in the photo at the top of this post.  The large gear was cut apart to form the gears that appear to be going off the page.  The propeller was attached to the smaller gear with a brad.

The hat band was colored with Walnut Stain DS

To finish off the inside of the card, I printed out the "Happy Father's Day!" sentiment, added a few pieces cut from the G45 paper, and the stamped pocket watch.  I think this adds  a bit of that extra touch for the recipient.

Vintage ATC's

Hello and HAPPY Saturday to all you out there in the crafty world. Shanna here today to share some ATC's. I have this awesome set of mini chippies that were screaming at me to use them! 

So I started my chipboard pieces painting them all. While they dried I created the background of my ATC's. Some clear embossing powder, stenciling, stamping, and Distress Stains created the look to go with my GUY THINGS. 

So the first ATC I used a car and added the "travel" sticker. 

The second is my favorite. I love using Crackle Accents on projects. I haven't used it in a while and thought on the pocket watch it would be perfect. 

The last ATC just reminded me of my son. He loves riding on things and being a boy. All he wants to do is have fun so this one was truly for the boys. The bike just got two layers of paint using a heat gun to dry in between each coat.
