Witches Cabinet by Dianna

Hi, Everyone! Dianna here with my Halloween inspired by Gina's Designs cabinet and Graphic 45's Rare Oddities Collection.

First I painted the cabinet black and then laid the pieces out on the Graphic 45 Rare Oddities - Brews and Potions paper to get the sections of the paper that I wanted.  The cabinet was glued together, without the paper on, with Beacon 3 in 1.

I ended up cutting and piecing sections in the order that I wanted, so that it does not look like the original paper anymore.  The paper was then glued on the cabinet. Black ink was used on the edges of the paper.

I then fussy cut matching bottles and scroll work, inking the edges. I used chipboard strips to pop them up.

The owl and butterfly were fussy cut from the Graphic 45 Rare Oddities - Ghostly Greeting.  I inked the edges and used a gold paint pen on Gina's Wooden Decorative Key.  Black ink was used to distress the key and used a bronze Sharpie on clear stones then placed the stones on the key. Chipboard scrap was used to give the owl some support.  Then I glued the owl and butterfly to the key and the key to the cabinet.

I painted one of Gina's spiderwebs black and used purple Stickles to give a little bling.  I labeled the bottles and put some glitter and micro beads in them as frogs eyes.  I then labeled the books that I had gotten on clearance.

I can place everything in drawer for storage when the Holiday is over.

Lastly, I painted Gina's new three witches (the pretty one) white, then used markers to draw her hair, skin and top. I used the back of the Rare Oddities to create the skirt.

I did not want to glue her to the cabinet so I designed a stand using chipboard strips and strips from an envelopes that were mailed to me using priority mail.  Yes, I save everything.

Thank you for looking!

Catch your Dreams Canvas

Hi crafty people! This week I decided to create a mixed media canvas with a quote from a sheet of Kaisercraft "Be-YOU-tiful" paper and lots of awesome Gina's goodies.

After figuring out where I wanted everything, I added the stenciling, primed the canvas and all the pieces were covered with gesso, and then glued them on. I then painted the entire project with gold acrylic paint before adding several different colours of mist. Some I dried between colours and others I didn't. This created a marbled effect in some spots. I also dabbed at some areas with a wad of paper towel to create a mottled effect and remove larger spots of mist. To define the edges a bit more, I dry brushed the pieces with black acrylic paint.

After everything was dry, I slid the quote into place (I had glued only the top of the arrow one side of the flowers, and only part of the key so this would be possible). I had a great time putting this together and getting messy with the mist and paint was so much fun! Have yourself a terrific weekend and be sure to find time to get messy!

ColourArte and Craft Group Challenge

Hello all!  Gina here to share a project I made using ColourArte products.

All month long you will be seeing lots of gorgeous work by our team members featuring ColourArts.  If you have never used them, be sure to check them out! The colors are fabulous; fully pigmented and the shimmer is just perfect.

I decided to team up my ColourArts Twinkling H2O's and Silks with Deann's Facebook Group challenge, Recycle, to create a faux canvas.  I began with a cracker box that was headed for our recycle bin.

I glued the top flap shut and coated the box with gesso.  Once dry, I covered the box with strips torn from old dictionary pages. Using the Brick Wall Texture Sheet, I created the brickwork in the upper left corner with Snow-tex.  I colored the bricks with Playful Peony Twinkling H2O's, Black Soot and Fired Brick Distress Inks.

I then used the Guatemalan Green Silks to wash the box.

The Balloon was painted with Silks in Apple Blossom and Emperor's Gold.  The background for the balloon top was cut from a piece of old sheet music.

The feather was colored using Iridescent Blue Twinkling H2O's and then inked with some Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink.  The Key was washed with the Emperor's Gold Silks for a brass look.

I printed out the quote using a word processing program and cut it up to arrange it as I wanted it.

The tree was inked with Walnut Brown Distress Ink and the branches tipped with Pretty Peridot Silks.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today.  Remember to keep an eye out for all the fabulous projects featuring ColourArte products this month.

In the Garden with Barb

Summer is here and everything is in full bloom (and the grass pollen is trying to kill me!).

I was out and about the other day and admiring all the pretty planting people have done.

So, that's where I drew my inspiration for this week.

I began with a 5 x 7 canvas panel onto which I swiped light blue and white paint. While it was still wet, I positioned the cutout of an old seed packet print on top of it.

For the trellis, I used Gina's Designs Deco Lattice Panel 2 that I treated with Versamark and then sprinkled with Frantàge Shabby Blue embossing enamel, which I then heat set.

For the charm, I used two different sets from Gina's: Wooden Charm - Circle Large and Wooden Decorative Keys. Both of these I coated with StazOn Metallics in silver. I also stamped them with Delicata gold ink, using a splatter stamp (origin unknown). Once they were completely dry, I sanded them lightly in a few places to give a distressed appearance.

For the charm face, I used a RubberMoon stamp and embossed silver on black paper. I simply inserted that in the charm before gluing everything together.

The rest of the project was just a matter of placing everything and gluing it.

Now I have a charming little bit of garden right here in my studio!

A Shadowbox by Kim

Today we are pleased to announce our March cross-promotional with CraftSupplies1, an Etsy shop featuring laces, flowers, metals, and other embellishments.  This month, the Design Team members from Gina's Designs, and from CraftSupplies1, will be creating two projects each showcasing products from both companies.  Watch for these projects all throughout the month.

Hi Everyone, It's Kim here sharing my latest project, the Postage Stamp Shadowbox, from Gina's Designs. This is really a unique design!  I loved altering it and giving it some vintage flair.  I have used a good mix of Gina's Designs Pieces in this shadow box and also mixed in some great Craftsupplies1 metal and laces and flowers which really added to the project.

Below you can see one of the clock faces from the skeleton clock set, and the lamp post from the Lamp post 2 set which I have embossed with 2 different types of embossing powder, rust by Ranger and Leather by Donna Salazar. I added some white, cream and gold flowers by Craftsupplies1.   They were a great finishing touch here.

Below is a close up of the compass which will be in the store soon, and the lovely BoBunny paper inside the box. I embossed the compass with some Stampendous aged copper, and topped this section off with some vintage lace from my stash.

In this section I used one of Gina's wooden keys and in the bottom right you can see the clock hands. I used African Bronze Gilders Paste on the key and Shabby White embossing powder on the clock hands. You can also see in the corner one of the amazing gold metallic flowers from Craftsupplies1.

In the photo below I have used one of the Penny Farthing Bikes from Craftsupplies1. Originally, it was silver in colour, but I embossed it with Shabby White. You can also see one of the new designs from Gina's in the photo below.   It is the Waterworks frame sets which include pipes, spigots, and elbows.  I really love these! You can connect the "pipes" to go in all different directions! Very cool!

In this section of the shadow box I used some wood letters from my stash coming out of the Waterworks Tap and inside the box you can see one of Gina's Postage Frames, topped off with a wooden dress form from Which Craft and metal wing from my stash. The bottom corner is finished off with some more beautiful flowers from Craftsupplies1.

And lastly, here is a shot of some of the gorgeous lace I have used from Craftsupplies1. Julie,  the owner has some truly beautiful Venice trims in stock and this one I have used here is one of my favorites!

This is my first project for our Cross Promotion with Craftsupplies1. I hope you will go along and visit Julie's Store, and see all the wonderful goodies she has in stock!

Thanks for stopping by today!
