Altered Trinket Drawer Stand

Hello to all you out there visiting today! Shanna here with some altered art to share with you. I love these altered art pieces in the store and home decor items you can get and make them into what ever you want. 

So after I assembled it I gave it a coat or two of gesso. Then I picked a gray color to paint the whole thing. Then I went back over with some gesso and sprayed it letting it drip to give it a worn "milk paint" look. 

Now I like the seeing the slots where the box connects at. If you don't like this the best way to fix it is add some bits of tape to add texture on the stand. 

Then I decided after I added my clay pieces I wanted it to really look old. 

So I went in with some Paynes Gray mixed with an acrylic glaze. I brushed the paint on and then after minute or two used a baby wipe to clean it up until I was happy with the look. You can always build up color. 

I also smudged some of the Paynes Gray around corners and nooks on the stand. I just love this stand and had fun creating this look.

The Goblin Throne

Spring is finally creeping into our neck of the woods. My faithful furry buddy and I have been taking advantage of the nice weather, wandering through the dried grasses and meandering next to the little stream that edges our property.

While these conditions are ideal for fairy sightings, it was a goblin we first encountered on our stroll the other day. Normally I don't mix with goblins (I don't have anything against them in particular, but avoiding them seems like the best practice) but we regarded each other respectfully and engaged in a little chatter.

He shared his ideas with me for a sort of goblin throne. I agreed to make one, in exchange for permission to share the project with others. He grumbled that he didn't much care, so long as the throne was made, and here we are.

There were four elements of utmost importance to be included:

1) It must not look out of place in the goblins den.

2) The seat must be well cushioned, because even goblins do not like sore bottoms.

3)  It should be embellished with poisoned berries and pointy things. (Note: The design didn't have to BE dangerous, but if it looked as though you might prick your finger that would be a very good thing indeed. And poisoned berries because goblins like to nibble throughout the day.)

4) It must contain a secret chamber for goblin treasures.

As soon as he mentioned the secret chamber my mind turned to this Trinket Drawer Stand and I gathered up some bark and moss and set to work.

This isn't a complicated project, and the supplies are few, but our goblin acquaintance was well pleased with the results. If goblins aren't your cup-of-tea, add flowers rather than spikes, and hide jelly beans in the secret drawer to make a regal chair for a fairy queen.

Witches Cabinet by Dianna

Hi, Everyone! Dianna here with my Halloween inspired by Gina's Designs cabinet and Graphic 45's Rare Oddities Collection.

First I painted the cabinet black and then laid the pieces out on the Graphic 45 Rare Oddities - Brews and Potions paper to get the sections of the paper that I wanted.  The cabinet was glued together, without the paper on, with Beacon 3 in 1.

I ended up cutting and piecing sections in the order that I wanted, so that it does not look like the original paper anymore.  The paper was then glued on the cabinet. Black ink was used on the edges of the paper.  

I then fussy cut matching bottles and scroll work, inking the edges. I used chipboard strips to pop them up.  

The owl and butterfly were fussy cut from the Graphic 45 Rare Oddities - Ghostly Greeting.  I inked the edges and used a gold paint pen on Gina's Wooden Decorative Key.  Black ink was used to distress the key and used a bronze Sharpie on clear stones then placed the stones on the key. Chipboard scrap was used to give the owl some support.  Then I glued the owl and butterfly to the key and the key to the cabinet. 

I painted one of Gina's spiderwebs black and used purple Stickles to give a little bling.  I labeled the bottles and put some glitter and micro beads in them as frogs eyes.  I then labeled the books that I had gotten on clearance. 

I can place everything in drawer for storage when the Holiday is over. 

Lastly, I painted Gina's new three witches (the pretty one) white, then used markers to draw her hair, skin and top. I used the back of the Rare Oddities to create the skirt.  

I did not want to glue her to the cabinet so I designed a stand using chipboard strips and strips from an envelopes that were mailed to me using priority mail.  Yes, I save everything.
