Dragonfly Tablet Holder

Don't even get me started on the dozens of reasons I hate, loathe and despise cell phones....but I sure do love me my laptop! Recently my amazing bestie received a tablet as a freebie when she replaced the cell phone which she uses for work, and since she knew she wouldn't use it, she passed it along to me!  Since a tablet falls somewhere between phone and laptop, I want to give it a try, but so far haven't used it much. I'm hoping setting it up on my work table in this cute little stand will inspire me to pick it up more often.

This project is simple, consisting of only three pieces. I covered them all with patterned paper; this sheet is from FabScraps. I sanded the edges and inked them with Donna Salazar Mixed Media ink in Leather.

I used the largest of the Damask Singles behind the back piece to add interest and height. I just painted it white, then inked the edges with the same brown ink. I brushed a little Perfect Pearls on it as well, which I also used on the dragonflies on the background paper as well as the two that I cut out and attached.

In addition to the dragonflies, I fussycut one of the plants from the paper, and cut an extra so that I could fold it and layer it on top for a 3D look. I then heat-embossed the whole piece in clear to give it a little extra strength to stand up.

I added a little moss and some flowers to finish the project and complement the outdoorsy feel of the paper.

Now my tablet will be out in the open where I will remember to pick it up and play with it more often...thank you, Bestie, and Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts!!

Forever and Always Romantic Shadow Box

For all my love of horror films, foul language, and filthy sense of humour, at my very centre is a squishy old timey romantic core.

I had it in my mind that to create a kissing booth. Something fun and flirty. Instead this terribly lovey dovey vintagesque smoochy kissy thing appeared.

I've used a Square Shrine Shadowbox as the base, and added other elements to fancy it up.

I've taken the largest piece from the Flourish Medallion Set, chopped into quarters and set in each corner. Damask Singles decorate the inside background and the frontpiece.

Although you can't see them here, the hanging ribbon is attached to the piece by looping through two Clock Hands.

A heart shaped cutout is layered with fussy cut flowers and and a sentiment from Graphic 45's Sweet Sentiments collection.

The glorious vintage I used is free and available from thegraphicsfairy.com BUT If you have a smoochy someone, perhaps you could use something a little more personal.

Easter 2 Ways by Pam Bray

Hi Pam today on the Gypsy Soul Laser Cut Blog showing how to use chipboard pieces to create 2 different projects using the same layout idea.

I first created an Easter Card using the Decorative Eggs and Damask Singles...

Begin by distressing the paper using a distressing tool; adhere to card base.

Give the Decorative Eggs and Damask Singles for both pieces a good coat of paint; dry.

Add paint color to the top of each piece for both card and tag. (Put tag pieces to one side when dry.)

Add prepared  Damask Singles to top of card front along with flower ribbon.

Adhere Decorative Eggs to top of pattern paper; fussy cut out.

Adhere prepared Decorative Eggs to front of card.

Make a pretty bow; add to front of card along with flowers. Add a few fussy cut butterflies from the pattern paper to the front.

Create one of the Chipboard Decorative Large Tags using the prepared Decorative Eggs

and Damask Singles. It is nice to see that each of these chipboard pieces come in sets of different sizes so they are easy to create unique projects using the same techniques. I hope you have fun making Easter projects using Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Supplies. Hugs Pam

A Trio of Easter Cards

Hello folks!  It's Susan from Killam Creative and this is my first post as a new Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts  education teamie.  I'm thrilled to be part of such a creative group!

Since Easter is right around the corner I decided to make a trio of cards with bunnies and chicks.

As you can see, I've used stunning GSL Cuts frames and a flourish to give the cards wonderful depth and detail.  Let's take a look at each one!

On the first card I wanted to use my current favorite colour combination of green and purple.  The base of the card is purple/plum. The GSL Cuts "Layered Frame Bella Oval" surrounds the adorable bunny.

On the Bella base layer I scribbled the edge with a TH Distress Crayon and used a little water and my finger to smooth it out.  It's the first crayon experiment for me, and I think it turned out well!

I inked the top layer of the Bella Oval with TH Ground Espresso and a sponge and glued the bunny to it.  It looked nice lying on top of the Bella base, but it needed a little more oomph.  In full experimental mode --and with fingers crossed-- I covered the base edges with Ranger Glossy Accents and very carefully placed the inked bunny layer on top.  I had to walk away and hope for the best.

Ta da! It worked!  The Glossy Accents glued the layers together *and* gave the beautiful vintage bunny a worthy frame.

Next up is a peachy-keen card.  I used the GSL Cuts "Flourish Frame Marie" to highlight lovely tulips on the retired Pion Designs paper.

I painted the frame with the closest thing to peach in the paint drawer.  Once that dried I whitewashed it for a little more interest.  I dabbed around the frame with watery white paint and let it set for a wee bit to dry. Then I used the dryer because I really wanted to get to the next, even messier step!

I inked the frame edges with brown since I can't make a project without inked edges.  To give the frame more pop I stuck my finger in a tiny tub of Distress Stickles and patted it all around.  This will work with clear glue and glitter or whatever you have on hand.

Once dried, it gives a cool, sort of random texture to the frame.  This could work with crackle paint also.  Next time!

Lastly, here is my favorite card of the trio, because of the DUCKIES!  This one uses the GSL Cuts "Damask Singles".  This chipboard is delicate and bee-you-ti-ful!  I hated covering up any of it, but a card maker's gotta do what a card maker has got to do. 

First I dabbed the damask cut with a couple layers of TH Picket Fence Distress Stain.  Once the card started coming together, I realized the white was too plain.  

It got a blue wash much like the white wash on my second card above.  Once dry I considered a bunch of sticky pearls along the flourishes but opted for the much-easier Viva Pearl Pen in Ice White.  I dabbed it all over and left to dry overnight.  I randomly inked with a brown color and it was done! 

To attach to the card, I dotted the Zig 2-way glue all over the back and held in place for a short bit.

Happy New Years Tag and Card by Pam Bray

Happy New Year and "huge" Thank You to all of our Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts fans!!! We are always so excited when you come to the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Blog to see all the wonderful items that we create using Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts chippies!

Today I am sharing my combination New Year Tag and Thank You Card using Tags In A Box Display, Feathery Flourishes Set, Filigree Frame Shape Set, Damask Singles, and doilies. 

Adhere pattern paper to the top of one of the tags from Tags In A Box Display. Lay stencil on top of prepared tag; apply crackle paste with palette knife. Dry.

Paint Damask Singles and Feathery Flourishes Set with paint; allow it to dry.

Stamp the Feathery Flourishes Set with black paint; dry.

Adhere doily to top of tag.

Adhere prepared Damask Singles and Feathery Flourishes to the top of tag.

Emboss Filigree Frame using Boss Gloss and Rust Embossing Powder.

Add to top of tag with pop dots.

Add twine and silk bow to front along with the "Happy New Years" banner to complete tag.

For my Thank You Card....use the same designer papers along with the same techniques on the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts chippies.

Adhere chippies to prepared card front.

Add "Thank You" sticker to front of card.

Add prepared frame to top of card.

Along with pretty bows.
