Easter Flower Cart

Hi folks its Angela here with you today with an Easter project.

I laid out the pieces of the Flower Cart to wipe them off (being laser cut you can get a little black sometimes as the laser burns through the material and causes soot)

This step also helps you to determine which bit goes where. I then painted all the pieces with Mowed Lawn distress paint.

 

Once painted I assembled to cart - ensuring the side pieces were in the correct way round, this picture shows the side piece with the handle off to the right.

Once assembled I touched up the bits where the tabs were with a paint brush.

I then chose which flowers I was going to use from the Flower Stackers (yours will come shipped as a sheet and it is easier to paint them before taking them out) I used several different distress paints to paint them, no need for gesso as the paint covers nicely.

I used the largest eggs from the Easter Egg set and applied Gesso to these as I wanted to paint them with lighter coloured Silk paints so I needed a white undercoat. Once covered I used a pokey tool to get the Gesso and paint out of the holes in the pattern on the eggs.

I glued the eggs onto plastic eggs as I want to put something inside them for Easter. The flowers are glued onto coffee stirrers (from a well known establishment) that I painted with the mowed lawn distress paint. I shaped the flowers slightly before gluing them together to give them a bit of dimension. I used a really dense foam block in the bottom of the cart to put my flower "stems" into and then I covered this with shredded crepe paper so you don't see the ugly foam.

Hi everyone, its Angela here today with you to share a Phone Holder that I made.

Firstly I laid out my pieces and knocked out the slots, then I took a silver Painters marker and painted all the edges with it along with a line around the outside of the top and bottom of each piece.

Next I laid out the pieces on a sheet of 12 x 12 paper and cut around them with a sharp knife, turned them over and cut again. This gave me a piece for each side.

The first piece I put together was the bottom as this has the slots in it. I applied glue to the paper and placed it on one side of the bottom of the stand. I then turned this over onto a cutting mat and used a sharp knife to cut the slots in the paper on the top side of the stand.

Once I had cut the slots I glued on the piece I had cut for the other side. I used a brayer to ensure the paper was stuck down well. I then stuck the paper to the other pieces of the stand.

I used some embellishments from Momenta to decorate the pieces. 

I decided that this would be a portable stand so I haven't glued it together. I just put a band around it and keep it in the bag it came in.

Quick and Easy Birthday Card

Hello everyone, its Angela here with you today with a quick and easy birthday card. It was our oldest Son's 15th birthday on Monday and I honestly can't believe where the last 15 years have gone! I made this card for him as he is not really into anything in particular at all (apart from computer games like most other teenagers around here)

First I made a card blank for an easel card by taking a 12 by 6 inch piece of card and scoring it at 6" and 3" as you can see below

With the other side of the 12 x 12 sheet I used some spray inks and the numbers from the Mixed Media Fragments 1 to create backgrounds - I cut the sheet in  half first so the 2 bits would be different.

I then used the parcels, hat, balloon and sentiment from the Birthday set. First I painted them with a white paint pen. I then took some distress inks to ink up the sentiment however I didn't like the effect it gave me over the paint pen as it was way too light. I then took out some of my Copic pens and coloured them with those instead - this gave me a much better result.

Once everything was the colour I wanted it I decided that the sentiment needed a bit of highlighting so out came a thinner white paint pen to do this with.

I cut the 2 background cards down to give me an edge around them so one was 5 3/4" square and the other one was cut into 2 pieces 2 3/4" x 5 3/4".

I stuck these to the aforementioned card blank.

The other pieces were then stuck on the folded top (being careful not to apply glue in to the top or they would stick to the card and not fold out.

Chip Clips for the planner folks.

Hi folks, Angela here with a quick project for you.

I have a MAMBI Create 365 Happy Planner that I use on a daily basis and the Chip Clips Assortment in the store are just the perfect accessory for marking those important pages.

I wanted to show you just how alterable the chipboard is, by using various different methods of decoration.

The first thing I did was to coat the ones I wanted to use in a couple of layers of gesso on both sides.

Next I took some washi tape (you know, the stuff you purchased because you thought it looked great and its been sat around for a year and a half) and covered one side of a clip. I then took a sharp knife and cut around using the chipboard as my guide. I then repeated the process on the other side.

Three of my clips got the washi tape treatment the one below was some fabric tape and then I popped on some stick on pearls. Here is a tip - if you use anything that will stick above the surface, then only use them on 1 side of your clip or you will have difficulty actually getting the clip to stay on.

The next clip I decorated was done with embossing powder. I used a sticky ink pad (in my case Perfect Medium by Ranger) and pressed the clip into it, then I put it onto a folded piece of scrap paper and coated it with embossing powder.

I heat set this side and then did the same to the other side. You need to make sure you do this on a non stick surface because as you heat the second side, your embossing on the first side will melt too, and may stick to whatever you have it on.

I then added some stick on gems to this one as you will see in the final picture.

Next up I used tarnished brass distress paint to coat both sides of another clip, once that was dry I applied a coat of Crackle Accents. I set it to one side to dry (whilst I made one of the other clips) and then coated the other side.

This next clip happened more by accident than planning but I love it. I coloured it with a copper metallic Sharpie pen, then I added a coat of Glossy Accents into which I sprinkled some Rock Candy Distress Glitter. When it was dry it still looked a bit "flat" so I applied another coat of Glossy accents and set it to one side to dry, whilst I made another clip. The other clip involved some rub-ons (another of those impulse buys that have sat around for ages) and as I was applying them I managed to place the other end of the rub-on sheet against this clip. As you can imagine, it wasn't quite dry and the rub-ons stuck! Well I was so pleased with how it looked I decided to apply more. This is how it looks on the page of my planner, unfortunately my picture doesn't show the sparkle from the glitter but believe me it IS there.

The next clip is the one that was MEANT to have the rub-ons. I coloured this one with 2 layers of Permapaque Pen (by Sakura) - I used 2 coats as I prefer the deeper purple. I then used the white Permapaque pen to write on once the purple was dry. I did have to do this several times to get a good white title. I then applied the rub-ons.

The other Star clip was done with Washi tape and then Enamel Accents on the points. The Make it Happen clip was coloured with a Pentel Gold pen and then the saying was from a Tim Holtz' book of stickers called "Small Talk".

I hope this shows you that the chipboard can be coated in quite a few different mediums depending on the look you require.

Messing around at being creative!

Sometimes I just feel like I want to mess around and experiment with different ideas and not create anything specific. This is why I have an art journal, I can play for the sake of playing and then stick the resulting artwork in there.

Today I took various bits of Mixed Media Fragments from the store (I just LOVE these bits, they are so versatile) and made two art journal pages. I wanted them to go together so I used the same colours on both pages.

For the first page I wanted to stamp the design of the media fragments over the page, but I need to make a stamp to do this. I separated the off-cut pieces from the design (hold on to these until you finish as you may decide you want to use them) then I took out some Cut and Dry foam and I heated the back with my heat gun and pressed the media fragment into it to make my own stamp. Once made I inked it up with Spiced Marmalade distress ink and stamped it on the page. As you can see from the picture I did the same with the diamond mixed Media fragment, you can use the same bit of foam because as you heat it up the previous indent disappears.

Once I had the background stamped I just added ink and distress stains randomly so it wasn't so white.

For the second page I wanted some texture on it so I turned to the texture paste. 

I used a palette knife to spread the paste through the square Mixed Media Fragment then lifted and repeated the process to give me 2 textured areas. As you can see by the third small picture, a little paste gets left behind on the piece but it is still perfectly usable for another project.

I used some gesso and then paint and distress stain on this once it had dried overnight.

Once I had the background done it was time to work on the decorative pieces. I took the diamond Mixed Media Fragment and applied gesso which I then dried with my heat gun. I squiged (very technical term I know) my distress ink - Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade and Picked Raspberry - onto my craft mat and sprayed with water. I then dragged my gessoed piece through the ink. Once dry I applied a random layer of Rock Candy Distress Crackle and left to one side to dry overnight.

I gessoed all the other pieces I wanted to use and applied paint, stain and ink to them to get the look I wanted.

Finally I stuck the pieces where I wanted them on my pages and added some White Enamel Accents (by Ranger) to various pieces to help them stand out.

And there we have it - getting messy just because you can, no other reason than that.

Hidden Drawer Book Box

Hi everyone, its Angela here with you today and I am sharing my hidden drawer book box with you.

I decided to cover this one with paper so I set out all the pieces on my desk just to make sure I knew which bit went where, I wanted to make sure I put the paper in the right place.
These are the pieces needed for the drawer (minus the spine of the book which gets added later)

And these are the Book part:

Use the chipboard pieces as templates for your paper (draw round them leaving out the tabs where they join with another piece):

Those of you out there who are very observant will notice that the top piece in the picture is actually the wrong way round, something I hadn't noticed until I put the paper on the wrong side - oops.

Once I had lined the drawer with paper I glued it together and covered the outside, Remember you do not need to cover one of the long sides as the "spine" of the book glues on the front of it.

I then laid out the pieces for the book bit and covered them (do the sides first and then cut pieces to fit the whole front and back and don't forget the spine.

Lastly place the drawer inside the book and glue the spine to the drawer, careful you do not close the drawer or you will find it very difficult to get it open again without pulling the spine off (ask me how I know that one eh! )

Tool Caddy

Hi folks, it's Angela with you today with a simple tool caddy. It is incredibly useful for putting in those bits and bobs you use all the time like scissors, pokey tool, pens and a ruler. Just put it on the desk whilst working and pop it back on the shelf when you have finished (you all tidy up when you have done don't you? ha ha)

First I layed out the pieces on the desk so I knew what I had.

Next I took the 2 number 5 pieces and inserted them into number 1, I then ran a line of glue along all the "lines" on piece number 3 before placing the assembled bit onto it.

Next I took the 2 number 2 pieces and layed them against the base to apply a line of glue along the joins. I find it easier to do it this way as you get glue exactly where you need it without too much mess.

All that was left for assembly was the end pieces (number 4) and here you have the assembled piece:
