On Trend ATC Bookcase

Hello this is Yolie sharing my version of the ATC Bookcase. The Bookcase a good size for crafty storage. The assembled measurements are 6-5/8" wide x 6-7/8" deep x 7-7/8" tall with a roomy drawer measuring (2-7/8" tall).

For starters, always remember to use a lightly damp cloth to clean off the laser cut soot on all the pieces. I went with a super trendy paper pad to alter the ATC Bookcase. The complete supply list is at the bottom of this post.

I used acrylic paint to paint all the edges of the ATC Bookcase. I separated the drawer pieces from the actual pieces that make up the book case. It also helps to determine which pattern paper to use.

I traced and cut the pattern paper and adhered them to the pieces. I sprayed the Mod Podge Ultra Matte onto the backside of the paper. This made it so easy!
I used Beacon Power-Tac on the tabs to assemble and also to attached the drawer knob.

I also covered the side of the drawers for a more finished look.

It's so pretty! I can't wait to fill it up with craft goodies.

My crafting often turns me into somewhat of a hermit. It is easy for me to spend days in my studio--especially during less pleasant months--and only venture out in the world to run errands.

I fill my studio with fun vintage items that remind me to enjoy life outside my little corner of the world. When I created this organizer storage unit for my studio I used it as an opportunity to remind myself both of travel adventures and vintage treasures I had yet to discover.

To make this storage unit, begin by assembling the Organizer System using a strong adhesive like Beacon Fabr-Tac.

Next spray paint the entire unit with a flat brown paint.

 Make sure you spray the inside of the Stickle holder.

Next select the base papers you want to use and cut them to fit each box. Adhere with Modpodge or a craft glue. 

Next fussy cut travel ephemera. Ink the edges with brown ink to give an aged look. Then adhere the ephemera to each unit. 

Cover all the units with a coat of ModPodge. Let dry and repeat with another coat of Modpodge. 

If you have any doubts about the durability of an storage system made from chipboard, let me assure you it will be sturdy. I made another Gypsy Soul organizer system about three years ago. It sits on my art table where I use it every day and it still looks new.

Washi Wheelbarrow

hey there! Lynne here with a little wee addition to my collection of storage items; I discovered that the adorable chippie wheelbarrow was the perfect size for the 5 small rolls of washi tape I keep handy to use in my journaling Bible and finished it to coordinate with the GSLC storage caddies on my worktable.

This is the blown-out view showing how the pieces fit together; be sure to put the hole all the way through if you cover both sides of the side pieces with paper; the axle for the wheels must go through these.

I didn't do anything too fussy to this piece, but the new Flourished Chain piece was a perfect embellishment. I used paper from a 6x6 Momenta pad to cover the main part of the wheelbarrow, then inked the edges with Distress Ink in Vintage Photo. I left the handle section bare so I could use the same finish on it as I used on the chain and the wheels

The chain, handle and wheels were all primed in brown, then heat embossed with Distress Embossing Powder in Vintage Photo, then sprinkled just a little Colorbox embossing powder in Peridot over the surface and heat embossed that as well then rubbed with Finnabair's fabulous Waxes in Lucky Emerald and Rich Copper (I just rubbed each one onto the surfaces randomly, here and there, to create a blended look.)

The small piece to the left in the photo above keeps the wheelbarrow standing; as an afterthought I added some of the embossing powder there as well, although in the photo it appears darker.

The photo below gives a closer look at the light flecks of green on the embossed surface; it's fun to combine and layer embossing powders to create new effects! I prefer layering them because if you combine the powders you can't pour them back into either of the original bottles, but if you don;t mind losing a bit of excess powder, it's definitely easier to get a uniform finish that way.

I am in love with the new flourished chain pieces, which come in 3 different sizes (I have used the Small) and it makes me happy that I was able to use this cute 3D wheelbarrow to create useful storage-now I have my eye on the Flower Cart....hmmm....what can I store in that one??!

The answer to your desk storage problems right here!!!

Maybe you are the sort of crafter who likes to have everything at their finger tips. I definitely am, but that creates some challenges around storage and organisation. I am typically a very organised person, but there are days when you would never know it looking at my desk. When I am busy working away at a project, I find that if I can't reach it from where I am, then I just wont use it.

 Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts has THE answer for you. They have created this awesome new storage system that you will love. Not only is it functional, and useful, but you get to build it YOUR way, and I am not talking in that annoying Ikea flat pack way either. This system is modular, so you can customise it to suit your own needs and then decorate it to suit your space more perfectly than any store bought system ever will. I even managed to co-ordinate it with another piece I already had finished. How great is that!!! I love that you can buy each piece separately, and combine them in a way that works for you. They are even stackable. I really want to get a second set to use for my classroom desk now.

First up the storage chests. There is a 3 drawer version and a 6 drawer version. Naturally you'll want them both. You can even double up for even more storage. they are sturdy enough to stack on top of each other.

I like to use these ones to store glitter, seed beads, prills etc. Things can come in small bottles. They are also perfect for mini ink pads. 

I've been needing storage like this for a while. It was designed for Stickles storage, but my Liquid Pearls dimensional paint comes in the same  bottles. Of course, now I need a second one for Stickles. This unit stores a massive 32 bottles, all right there for you to see at a glance. So very handy.

Next up, are the storage cubes. One is 6x6 and the other 3x6. They fit together perfectly, while being versatile at the same time. Win-Win!!!You could even stack the smaller ones flat on top of each other. I love to use the big ones for all my different glue bottles, while the smaller ones house my scissors and my stamp blocks.

                    

I have decorated mine simply since there are so many pieces, but you could of course go all out. Maybe I will even add to them as time goes by ;)

Mini-books on bookcase

Hey crafters! Once again I'm lured by the wondrous appeal of storage and organization, this time using the ATC Bookcase and Faux Book Boxes...

The bookcase went together so easily; I used white glue to assemble it after covering the pieces with the patterned paper I chose. I sanded and inked the edges before assembling, then rubbed the ink over each joint afterwards so the edges blended together.

There were plenty of pretty images in the paper collection to fussy cut and use to decorate my project

 .

I added a mushroom, bird, and some moss to the top, which I thought suited the garden/nature theme of the papers.

I chose the striped paper for the edges of the faux book boxes to mimic the look of pages; when assembling them, I simply used strips of paper to create "hinges" then covered over them, leaving a                                                      slight gap so the hinge could move.

More images from the papers completed the boxes; I wanted to keep the embellishments to a minimum so that they would fit flat against each other on the bookcase.

I had some lovely 7 Gypsies paper with a row of books, and they were pretty much the perfect width to use on these book boxes for a touch of authenticity-I love how they make the books look almost real!! (although tiny!)

The book boxes are ATC sized, but I'm not sure yet what I will keep in them....heaven knows there are lots of options in this overflowing craft room of mine! Thanks so much for stopping by, and I wish you a wonderful week!

A Fairy Garden Craft Caddy

Happy Sunday everyone and welcome to our blog today.  It's Teresa here with a fun project to help get your crafty room organized for the new year.  I made one of these a while back and filled it to the brim with my craft tools so I thought I would get out some brand new papers from Graphic 45 and create a fun new one to fill.

Believe it or not purple is one of my favorite colors and this paper set has all of them. Purple, pink, aqua and blue so it was the perfect choice for my Craft Caddy.  I added Embossed Medallions and lots of flowers and flourished feathers to it to make the perfect Fairy Garden on the front and back.  Join me for a short tutorial on how I did it :)

First glue together your Craft Caddy and let it dry like I did above.  I use purple paint to coat the caddy both inside and out and let that dry too.  I also got out some chipboard medallions, die cuts for leaves and lots of flowers to go with my papers.  

After the paint is dried you can start to cut pieces of the patterned Fairy paper to cover the sides and the bottom of your caddy like i did above.  

While it is drying you can start on the medallions.

For the new flourish medallions i inked them in a light pink ink and then coated them really well with Aged Rose Embossing enamel from Stampendous.  It's a really fun powder with lots of texture and this is how they come out after you heat emboss them.

When they are cool you can glue them to the front of your Craft Caddy.

And to finish you can add a few of the cute cut outs that come in the collection along with lots and lots of pretty flowers and ribbons.  I even added chipboard feathers that i simple chalk inked and slid them under the flowers for more chippy texture.  It was super fun to make and i hope you will try one too.  Check out the supply list below to get started!  Thanks again for stopping by!!

Getting organized in the New Year-a caddy for my pens

Hi everybody! Hope you had a wonderful holiday season; as my first post for the new year, I decided I'd jump on the storage and organization bandwagon! I really needed to get my favourite pens, markers and pencils all in one place, and this awesome tool caddy is the perfect place for them (I made one for my paintbrushes LAST year!)

I used this gorgeous, delicate Heartfelt Creations paper; I love the soft colours and the Scripture verses that are included in the paper pad.

Once I chose the papers, I painted the edges of the caddy that would be uncovered with a light wedgewood blue acrylic paint, then cut the papers to fit each piece, just laying the pieces on the reverse side of the paper and tracing around them. I then sanded and inked the edges a bit before gluing them on. I also inked the edges of the fussy cut verse before attaching it to the front with foam tape.

The leafy swirl I cut into two pieces, one for each end of the caddy-I love how easily these chipboard embellishments can be cut to fit whatever project I'm using them for! I painted them with the wedgewood acrylic before heat embossing them with distress embossing powder. they were then lightly rubbed with soft blue ink.

I diecut the flowers and layered the 3 sizes after inking the edges and shaping them. The trick to shaping them I learned at a Heartfelt Creations workshop at CHA a few years back (although my tools are much more makeshift than theirs were!) I placed the flowers on my mouse pad, then used the round end of a crochet hook, placed it in the center of the flower and gently rotated it in a small circle until the flower sunk in in the center and the petals curled outward. Once they were glued together I added some antique gold microbeads in the centers.

I love to fussy cut and these papers had gorgeous vines that were perfect to add to the top of my caddy; a soft bow finished it off.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my project; I'm looking forward to how much more organized I'll be now....actually I think it just might take a "smidge" more than a caddy to make me stay organized, but hey, it's a start, right???
