Christmas Tea Party Tag Ornaments

Happy Saturday, everyone! Connie here to share some festive holiday ornaments I made using the GSL Stagger Tags Small.

I used the smallest of the tags, it's 2.5 by 3.5 inches. The paper I selected is DCWV Winter Basics. I used the tag as a pattern for tracing. 

 

I cut paper for both the front and back from the same collection and used a hole punch to add the hole for attaching ribbon later. 

Once the papers were adhered to the tag using tacky glue, I sanded the edges with a fine grit sanding block and inked them with galaxy gold Brilliance pad. 

 

I wanted to fill the tiny porcelain cup I used so mixed up a small portion of Ice Resin that was colored using a tiny bit of burnt sienna oil paint. 

 

I made Christmas cookies by cutting small squares of beige polymer clay, baking them for a few minutes, browning the edges with chalk pastel and painting white acrylic 'frosting' on top.  To fancy them up, I printed small images of edible wafer paper cookie transfers and glued those in place. I actually made these exact cookies in real life a few years back with a friend!

I painted a GSL Snowflake Shape Set Mini with white acrylic paint to sit underneath the tiny plate of holiday cookies. 

The final touches include a napkin made from scrap of fabric tied in ribbon with a mini candy cane tucked inside and a plate of polymer clay sugar cubes and lemon cane slices. 

Since this turned out so cute, I made another.

 

And then a Harry Potter themed one.

TriFold Pocket Mini

Hi everyone!  Barbara here today on the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts blog.  I want to share with you one of the newest laser cuts from Gypsy Soul called the Trifold Pocket Mini.  I love how it folds up into a small notebook, yet has pockets to hold all sorts of memorabilia.  Here is a picture of the finished cover.

Cut a piece of handmade paper to fit the front of the trifold mini and use a white glue to adhere the paper.  Trim excess paper away.

Cut strips of the same paper to cover the inside flaps and score lines and adhere with white glue.  This will cover the inside of the pockets where it opens and also strengthen the score lines.

Apply a fast grab tacky glue along the two long edges of each pocket, as shown.  

Fold them up and clamp each pocket together until the glue dries.  I used a heavy weight for the center pockets since I didn't have any clamps long enough to reach.

I used an Adirondack Gold paint dabber to edge the two side edges and the edges along the flaps.  

Cover the front of each stagger tag with notecards from the Tea-Thyme collection, cutting off the excess paper.  Be sure to punch the center hole before covering the other side.  Here you can see how the notecards looked before they were glued to the tags.

Turn tags over and cover the back  of each stagger tag with a print paper from Tea Thyme.

I printed these collage images of Geishas, trimmed them, then layered each onto a piece of gold paper, then onto black card stock, before gluing them to the inside pockets, as shown.  I also added the large photo clips with brads, which will work to keep the flaps closed.  (NOTE:  I should have done this before gluing the pockets, but with determination, I was able to carefully get inside the pocket to spread the brad prongs.)

The three tags will fit nicely inside the three pockets.  You can add small photos, collage images, quotes, or add some personal journaling to the tags.

I finished off the front and back of the trifold pocket min with a few more Geisha collage images, flowers, and a few metal embellishments I had on hand.  I used a piece of gold elastic to keep the mini book closed.

And for the inside, I added a few square metal embellishments to the flaps, as shown.  I did not add any 3D embellishments to the inside as it would make it quite difficult to close.  Once I inserted the tags into each pocket, I slid the photo clips into place to hold the flaps closed.  Each picture was offset, rather than centered, to accommodate the clips.  You could also use small velcro tabs or magnets, which would be adhered to the trifold before covering it with the paper.

Easy Snowflake Earrings

Hello!! Jennalee here today with a super easy project. Although it's a super easy project it's sparkly and perfect for any upcoming Ugly Sweater parties you may be attending. When I recently got the Snowflakes Mini set they screamed earrings to me!

I chose 2 snowflakes from the Snowflake Mini set to emboss and layer. As you can see there are some fantastic shapes in the mini set. 

I simply heat embossed each snowflake. The bottom red snowflake I embossed both front and back because they are dangly both sides will be visible. My biggest tip for embossing any chipboard is to use an Embossing Ink Dabber. It makes heat embossing chipboard a breeze! After both snowflakes are embossed use a strong hold adhesive to adhere the two together. Then simply loop onto an earring hook. 

I thought these would make an adorable hostess gift. To up the presentation, a handmade tag is always the answer. I covered the smallest tag from the Stagger Tags Small with a piece of scrapbook paper. I then added a border of gold heat embossing around the edge of the tag. To make the pop-up I used a strip of paper matching the background of the tag. Fold in thirds and then fold the 2 outer thirds in half. Punch holes and glue only the outer most folds to the tag to make it pop. Thread earrings thru.
