Happy Mother's Day from all of us at GSLC

So let me start by saying Happy Mother's Day to all you mom's out there and all of us at GSLC and we hope that you have a wonderful day today spent with your kids and family and maybe even get in a little crafty time to make something fun with them.

Today my project is something you can make as a gift or something to decorate for your own house.  We have an beautiful chipboard set called "the Flower Cart".  I thought about doing this alot of ways.  You could even put wood paper on to make it look more rustic or paint it in shades of brown to look like a weathered piece of wood but i wanted mine to be a neutral color so that i can change the flowers out if i wanted or even add a plant inside.  

So first i glued it all together and let it dry and then i painted the whole thing white with acrylic paint (2 coats) and let it dry again.  Then i took some texture paste in white and found a pretty wall paper stencil and added the design it to all the sides of the cart and let it dry.  Then i went over the whole thing again with white chalk paint.  

One of my favorite parts of this adorable little cart are these cute little wheels with all those pretty details in them.  I painted them white to match and when they were dry i hot glued them onto the sides and then added those cute little brads in the center of each of them.  For the flowers i bought some pretty aqua ones at my local hobby store and used a piece of styrofoam to hold them inside of the cart.  I added 2 aqua colored netted bows and tucked them inside the flowers to fill the space.  And it's all done!!  Now i can put it somewhere to add color in my house or give it to a special person in my life.  It was really super easy to make too.

Santa's Sleigh gift idea

Hi and welcome to the GSLC Blog!  Christmas is fast approaching so I have a quick idea to share that you can do for friends or co workers to decorate for the holidays.  I used the "Santa Sleigh" chipboard kit in the shop to make my project and it was super fun and easy to do. And.... Below I have a quick tutorial for you all on how I did it so I hope you have a minute to read on and see.

1. Step one you are going to glue together the sleigh and let it dry.

2. Then paint the entire sleigh with red paint and let that dry.

3. For the details on the sides I decided I wanted to make a metallic look on them so I inked them up with gold Delicata ink and then embossed it with gold embossing powder from Tim Holtz.  

This gave the pieces a subtle gold tone with a really pretty metal texture.  Set these aside.

4. Take the patterns for the side that you get in the set and use them to cut 2 pieces for the sides of the sleigh with red dotted paper to match. 

5. Ink all around each of the side pieces to darken them just slightly like you see above.  Glue the red dotted pieces to the sides of the sleigh.  Let dry.

6. Glue the gold pieces onto the sides of your sleigh to finish it.  And wha la... you have the cutest little sleigh to add a floral design or even cookies or a gift for a very special someone this holiday!!

For my sleigh I added a piece of styrofoam inside and then added Christmas floral picks and greenery to make a pretty arrangement.  And of course a pretty bow to add extra sparkle just because it's Christmas.

And here is a quick closeup of the details in the sides.  I love this part and it gives it that extra wow and just a bit more stability to the sleigh.  It was really fun and easy to make and I hope you try one!

New Fall Mini Book to share today

I love Fall and have been super busy this year picking apples and pumpkins and doing all those fun things you get to do at this time of year.  So-- I thought I better get to work on a new mini book to put all my fun pictures that I have into.  I chose some fun papers from Echo park and lots of chippies.

Creating this book was really fun because there are so many pieces that Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts creates to use for it.  There are pumpkins, chicken wire, corners, lots of vintage stuff and so much more.  On the cover I used the Wrought iron shape set corners and inked them just a little bit to go with the country feel of my kraft covered book I got from Michaels.

And on the inside I kept it really easy by just layering all the printed papers and then adding chipboard pieces like this one from the Chevron words set.  It has 4 super cute pieces and they fit perfectly on each of the pages I did.

I just loved all the stickers in this Echo Park paper set called Perfect Autumn.  The colors are so pretty and remind me of all those pretty colors when the leaves change for fall.

And these little beauties are from the  Feathers shape set and come in a nice assortment of sizes and worked really cute with my stickers.  Who doesn't love pretty feathers and inking them or embossing them is easy.

And then I found this cute chicken wire in my stash and thought how fun to use it to frame up a few pictures on.  I love that the chipboard adds a little dimension to an otherwise flat page and you could also use it to stencil on your book it you wanted to. I still have to get the pictures all printed but I think all of them will fit quite nicely in my new fall book.

And lastly here is another one of those cute Chevron words.  Perfect pretty much says it all.

Spooky little Haunted House

Happy Sunday and thank you so much for stopping by on this beautiful fall day.  Today i have a fun project to share with all of you that is made with the Display Tray house with a little bit of a Halloween twist to it.

I started to get out my fall and halloween decorations this week and thought how fun it would be to make up a cute haunted house to put up in my entryway with a few of the other fun GSLC projects that i have made.  I had lots of fun little chippies to use to decorate it too and it really went together pretty quick.  Keep reading for quick directions on how i created it.

1. So to begin my project i cut out all the pieces that i thought i might use and layed them on my project and took a picture.  This way after i paint and all of that i know where to put them back just in case.

2. Then take the back of the house and trace it on the front of the paper and cut it out.  Glue it to the front and let dry.  Then sand around the edges.  Set it aside.

3. Take pieces of the pretty halloween papers and trace through the windows with a pencil.  Cut around the pencil lines about 1/4 inch more so that you can glue it behind the windows when you are done painting.  Set all of them aside.

4. Paint the whole front and sides with black paint and let it dry.

5.  Take out lots of pretty colors in chalk paint and ink that match your paper and ink your little halloween chippies and let them dry.  This goes really fast with chalk ink and you can shadow them if you want more depth on them.

6. Glue those pieces of printed paper to the back of your dry window tray.  Let it dry.  Then glue it down to the front of the back purple piece that you did in the beginning.  Take your little chippies and glue them down to the front of the house like you see below.  Add stickers and glitter on the chippies to make them sparkle.  Add a twine bow in the tree to finish it.

7. Try using other things in your stash to see what kind of fun effect you can get on your project.  I used stickles for the glitter and it came out really neat and a little bit more random verses thick pasty glitter.  The distress stickles came out even better on the pumpkins.  

All these little cuties came in the set called "Spooky Shape Set" and i have lots more to make up a few cards to send out to friends.

And that is all there is to make it.  You could even tuck in cute pictures int the squares from your trick or treating with the kids.  How fun would that be to keep up for the coming years ahead!!

Snowflake Shawdow box

Hi and welcome to the blog today. It's Teresa here and I am sharing a gorgeous wintery shadowbox frame that I did for my daughter and her new husband.  He actually proposed to her high up on a snowy mountain last year so I thought this would be a nice gift to give them for their anniversary this year and to remind them of that very special day that started it all for them.

1. So to make this project you will start with the Deco Front Shadowbox.  I took apart all the pieces and wiped around the edges to clean them up and then started to glue it together.

2. Glue the sides to the base first and then let it dry.

3. Then glue on the top frame and let it dry too.

4. Then I painted the box inside with silver paint inside and on the back.  For the top of the frame I used a blue ink that matched my papers and let it dry. ( Using inks to stain the pieces keeps the edges cleaner and then you don't have any drips.)  Then I used a little chalk ink and just barely touched around the edges to first darken it and then add white to make it look like snow. ( See below)

5.  Then I added papers from the Kaisercraft Frosted collection to create a base for my picture inside the shawdowbox.  The 6x6 paper pad comes with borders and stickers so it was easy to create a simple design for the inside bottom of the frame.

6.  The snowflakes are from the Snowflake Shape Set and these I kept in the brown color to make it a little more rugged looking and not so girly.  The snowflakes in the set are beautiful and you can add little rhinestones like I did to make them pop more.

7.  And to finish it I added some adhesive letters from Ruby Rock-it and a few little word tags to add a little more wow to it.  Oh and the arrow is also from GSLC and there is a whole bunch of them in that set too so it's perfect to add to all of your other projects.

This was such a fun and easy project to make and these are great boxes to make up for gifts for the holidays too.  Imagine how fun for a wedding, a new baby or even for those special christmas memories you want to save.

Victorian Clock Decore

Hi and welcome to our Gypsy Soul Laser cut blog today... I hope that you are having a wonderful week now that summer is officially here and it's time to get out all those crafty supplies and have some fun.

Today I am sharing a pretty piece of decor thatIi made to put up in my victorian inspired craft room using a few of the "Alarm Clock" chipboard pieces as my base and lots of other goodies from the store.

My crafty room is very special to me and its the only room in my house that really shows the victorian side of me so every once in a while I find something really pretty and have to make up a new piece to put up in my room.  And this project was really fun to make and will fit in perfectly.

To make it I layered lots and lots of chipboard pieces and added this beautiful spray of flowers and ribbon.  And of course lots of glitter to make it sparkle.  Below is a quick tutorial on how I did it so please join me.

WhenIi start a project I always like to gather up lots of goodies from my stash that I think might work really good and keep them close at hand.  Not everything will work but at least the creative part of my brain can be inspired andI don't have to go searching around for much.

So... First I layered up the clock frames and the flourish and glued them together and let it dry really good before I painted it.

Then I used chalky paint in white and covered all the pieces with a good coat of paint and also did the back when it dried.  I sanded it just a little on the edges to make it more worn looking.

For the new "Swirl Medallion"  I wanted to make it stand out so I chose 2 soft colors of pink to ink it. The lighter I did on the whole medallion and the darker i shaded around the edges.   Then I sprinkled it with clear embossing powder and heat set it to make it glisten.  I glued this in the center of the clock.

Then I took adhesive and spread a good layer on the bells on the top and sprinkled them with a multi crystal glitter mix and let it dry.  To make the flower spray i scrunched up a small piece of white gauze and glue it on the left side and then I layered on the dotted ribbon that you see and lots of white foliage and flowers that I had.  I love roses and this is great because I can keep them beautiful for a long time to come.  I also added a little bit of glitter to the flower spray just because I can :)

Ooo la la fun in Paris

Hi, it's Teresa here today on this beautiful Sunday morning to share a really fun project I did with the 7x7 Paris themed shadowbox kit.  I had a friend who went to Europe last summer and so I wanted to make her something special to remember her trip so this kit was just perfect.  It has all the pieces that you see plus a few more so you can be super creative and use lots of fun things in your stash to do it.

So this is all about Paris so I really wanted to use lots of pinks, grey and blacks so i found lots of pretty paper from Kaisercraft, paint, chalks and other goodies and set to work.  It took an afternoon to make it since I used paint but other than that it went together really quick.  Grab a cup of coffee and I have a quick tutorial to help you make one too.

1. First separate all the pieces in the kit and remove all the little bits in the laser cuts.

2. For the shadowbox lay down the front and glue the sides to it and let it dry.  I love Scotch Quick Dry adhesive for things like this because it dries really fast and holds really good.

3. Now you can glue on the back.  I put the pieces together and spread a thick layer of glue over all of the edges with my fingers to make sure it's in the grooves and it sticks really good.  Let it dry.

4. While the box is drying take the Paris chipboard piece and the 2 crowns and cover them with glue and add glitter.  Let them dry.

It's super easy to cover the chipboard with glitter and you can use any color you want.

4. Now that the box is dry you can paint it on the inside, front and back with a light grey chalk paint.

5. For the front I used strips of paper for the edges and sanded them and inked them.  The inside of the box I measured and cut a piece of paper to fit and then glued it to the inside of the box.  In the next picture you will see that I changed the paper which sometimes I do after seeing it all in front of me.  It was too busy for all the other things i was putting in so I opted for a more simple piece instead.

6.  Now you can ink the Eiffel Tower in Momento Grey Flannel ink.  This worked great and gave it a subtle grey tone and then I added a little bit of black to the edges to shade it.  Then I embossed the whole thing with clear embossing powder to set it and make it shiny.  The pink Fleur de lis I also inked with pink chalk ink and let them dry.

7.  For the little dress i inked the top and base with Midnight black chalk ink and let that dry just a little.

8. And then i traced the dress part onto a pink printed paper with a pencil and cut it out with scissors.  It doesn't have to be perfect because you can sand around the edges and then give it a little shading with the pink chalk ink you used on the Fleur de Lis pieces.

9.  And now you can glue all the pieces in like you see above in my box.  I added a few pearls on the dress and a few more rhinestones to the Fleur de Lis and the Eiffel Tower and a really pretty bow with flowers to make it really pretty and feminine.  I had so much fun in Paris when I went and so did my friend so I hope that she will like my gift to help her remember this special trip last summer.
