Spooky Halloween Holiday Decor

Hey there Peeps! I'm having a spooky good time creating Halloween decor with my GSL chippies! I'm sharing a project today that started out as an exploding box (coming soon)....but took a turn for the better and became a really fun 3d holiday decor piece. I can just see this sitting on a mantle or shelf as part of a vintagy vingnette.

All of the most fabulous Halloweeny things all in one place!

Who doesn't want a spiderweb filled trophy in their holiday decor?

I used the Exploding Box to create a sturdy base.

The layered on all the fun and festive embellies.

Finished on all sides it's fabby from any angle.

I coated the box in Flat Black Gesso.

Then added layers of patterned papers.

The square side panels made it super easy to measure and cut the papers for the base. I finished the edges with black ink.

Even just by itself the base is really cute.....this mix of patterns is so vintagy!

Bringing in some embellishments to build up the height.

This spiderweb String Along is too tall : (

So I clipped it and re-attached it so all the great detail would sit just on top of the trophy. I painted it black...but missed the picture.

A little embossing powder heat set to finish these chippies and I was ready to assemble.

Master Dectective Memo and Pencil/Pen Holder by Pam Bray

Happy Saturday Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Fans!!! Pam here on the GSLaserCuts Blog today sharing my Master Detective Memo and Pencil/Pen Holder. I think these would make fabulous teacher's gifts for the first day or last day of school gifts, Christmas, Birthday, for your desk or just to give to someone special.

Cut squares pattern pieces from paper along with borders. Place adhesive to the back of pieces.

Adhere to squares on Explosion Box.(coming soon) Cut one of the ends away from the Explosion Box.

Form lid; apply glue to inside of lid and place prepared Explosion Box to inside. Remove clips when dry; decorate sides of lid to form bottom. Adhere legs to bottom of prepared box.

Form ATC Shine Box leaving off one of the top pieces to form box. Adhere to back of prepared box.

Cut one of the Star Medallions in half; adhere to front of memo box.

Add chipboard piece from the Master Detective set along with a metal butter fly to the front of memo box.

Decorate sides with pattern paper borders; add journal block to inside of the formed ATC Shine Box.

Adhere other half of Star Medallions to the back of the journal piece.

Adhere small metal brads to chipboard pieces. Fill with 3' memo pads, pencils and pens.

Explosion box Sunday...

Hi and welcome to the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts blog on this beautiful Sunday.  I hope that you are having a wonderful weekend and maybe will have just a bit of time to get in a little crafting today.

There are so many new things in the store this month it was really hard to chose what to make for my share this week but a few things called my name and one was the new Explosion box and the other was these gorgeous new "Tudor Rose" medallions.  These are such fun little boxes to make for gifts so i found lots of fun Kaisercraft papers and other goodies in my stash and set to work.

To start the box you will need the Explosion box that you can get here... and the ? medallions.  You get three medallions in the set but i used the smallest one just because it fit perfectly.  

Next measure and cut papers to fit the top of the lid and the sides.  Ink around them and then glue to the lid.  Chalk the medallion with brown ink and blue ink to match the papers.  Glue it to the top.

Try something different and ink just parts of the medallion.  It gives it that antique look that way and makes it a real one of a kind gift for someone.

Next you can measure and cut papers to decorate the outside of the box and the inside of the box.   Don't cut one for the center square because you will be adding other paper strips over it to add more pictures.

Once you have the papers cut, chalk around them and glue them to the explosion box as shown.

For the next few layers cut strips of paper that measure from one side to the other but about 1/4" less on each end.  Making the layers gradually smaller as you go inside will make the box easier to fold. Be sure and use a Scor-board or tool to make sure you get the lines even and in the right places so that they lay down nice and flat.  Glue the next four layers in the center square.  Let it all dry.

Once it's all dry you can cut papers to fit inside and also add pictures and journaling.  I am going to give mine as a gift so i am going to let them finish it and add extra stickers to tuck in with it.  And the best part is it didn't take but an afternoon so you can make them up fast and easy.  Baby boxes, Graduations and weddings would be super cute to make too.

Cafe Parisian Explosion Box by Sandy Trefger

Hello and Happy July!! Sandy here with a lovely little explosion box for you.  Summer is in full swing and it gets a little hard to get much crafting done but we do need a bit of creative time, don't we?  This project just might be what you need to quickly have a finished project and it makes a lovely little gift too. 

 

Here's a list of the supplies I used to create mine and then I will give you a step by step tutorial.

• Copic C5 (Dark Gray) Marker
• Beacon 3-in-1 Glue

Let's get started...

Step 1:  Wipe the edges of your chipboard Explosion Box pieces with a slightly damp cloth to remove any black residue.  

Step 2:  Ink all the edges on both sides of the box base piece and the lid piece with Black Soot Distress Stain.

Step 3:  Measure and cut squares of paper to cover all sections on both sides of the box base and the center inside section and center outside section of the lid.  Use a dark gray Copic or other alcohol marker to color the white cut edges of your papers.  I used Graphic 45's Cafe Parisian 6x6 Patterns & Solids paper pad for my Explosion Box.  Adhere the papers to the box sections. If desired add a tie ribbon underneath the patterned paper of the outside center section of the box as shown in this photo. I decided to not have a ribbon tie in my finished Explosion Box.

Step 4: Assemble the lid with glue before adding patterned paper.  Use clothes pins or other clips to hold the corners together while it dries.

Step 5:  Measure and cut patterned papers for the outer sides and the inner sides of the lid. Color the white cut edges with a dark gray Copic or other alcohol marker.  Adhere all the patterned papers to the lid including the two squares cut earlier.

Step 6:  Create a floral piece for the inside of the Explosion Box.  I used a small vintage sewing spool, wrapped it with a piece of matching patterned paper, vintage lace and added a bow.  The miniature silk roses and posies are glued into the spool with Beacon 3-in-1 glue.  Securely glue the spool into the center section of the inside of the box

Step 7:  Add card stock die cut embellishments as desired and any other embellishments such as the strips of contrasting patterned paper and rhinestones.

Step 8:  Use a scallop punch and cut 4 strips from contrasting patterned paper to add to the outer sides of the box base.  Be sure to line them up on all four sides.  In this photo I still have the tie ribbon on my box but I do remove it later when I finished up.

Step 9:  On the lid, add another card stock die cut embellishment, an arrangement of the flowers and a jute twine bow. Also add a matching jute twine bow to the flower arrangement on the inside of the box. Place it on top of the sheer blue ribbon bow and add a rose to the center of the box as shown in the second photo below.

Your Explosion Box is done!
