Happy Birthday Greeting Card

Hello there friends and crafty peeps! I'm so excited to share this project! Ive been holding on to this Posey Panel chippie for a long time now waiting for the perfect project to use it on. Today is the day!!!!

This background pattern is just so perfectly floral! I love the tone on tone textured effect I was able to create by finishing the chippie in the same color as the back ground paper.

I used the corners to lighten up the front of this card as it was looking a bit gloomy.

Since I've got flowers in the back ground I thought I'd add a few to the front too. Okay maybe more than a few. lol

A bit of cheesecloth tucked into the flowers softens and fills in the arrangement.

I've added a perfectly coordinated bow of wrinkle ribbon topped off with a second smaller bow of loopy twine then finished it off with a vintage button and metal charms.

A sentiment can be sweet and simple when stamped,  clipped out and added to cards.

All the chipboard was finished in a flat white acrylic paint.

I used a double sided adhesive tape to support the edges of the paper since the middle has the bulk of the chippie holding it up.

Thanks Sew Much Greeting Card

Hi everyone!  Barbara Rankin here today on the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts blog.  You know, there's nothing better than laser cut chipboard for adding dimension to your greeting cards without adding lots of bulk and height.  But don't stop there, it's also great for adding layers and cool shapes to all your scrapbooking and mixed media pieces.

First I cut up a piece of pink card stock to make a 5-1/2" square card.  Then I trimmed blue chevron paper to measure 5-1/4" square, and used a distressing tool to rough up the edges.  Set the pink card aside for now.

Using one of the small zipper chippies, trace around it with a pencil, then cut a "V" shape in the paper inside the lines, as shown.  I cut approximately 1/8" inside the lines.

Paint the outer edges of the zipper, first with a coat of Blue Green Light, which is opaque, then after that dries, paint a coat of Cobalt Teal Hue, which is transparent, over that.  Paint the zipper teeth and zipper pull with a silver leafing pen.

You can use the Translucent White to give the color a more pastel look, just by adding a light wash over the zipper edges.

Glue zipper to blue chevron paper.  Add a small piece of pink flower print paper beneath the zipper opening, distressing the outer edge to match the blue chevron layer.

Add a detail to the zipper pull with the Viva Décor Silver Pearl Paint Pen.

Tear white doily in half and adhere to right side of blue chevron paper.  Tear blue flower print paper in half and adhere both strips over torn edge of doily, and tear a few more strips of the pink flower print paper to the card front, as shown.

Cut out two printed decorative portions from one of the sheets and adhere to card, as shown below.

Cut away a small section from the Posey Panel.  Color each posey with a combination of the Titanium White plus Quinacridone Violet (purple flower), Titan Buff plus Diarylide Yellow (pale yellow flower), Titanium White plus Primary Magenta (pink flower) and last flower with only Titan Buff.  Cover all flowers with a wash of the Translucent White.  Let dry between coats.  Then use Faber Castell Pitt Pens in Light Skin over all the flowers except the yellow one.  Cover that one with Cadmium Yellow.  This will color the Translucent White paint and give it a shaded effect.

Paint the body of one of the dress forms from the  Dressforms 1 Miniature Shape Set the same way as the zipper edges and then color the dress form stand with a Pitt Big Brush Pen in Nougat.

Add tiny details to the drop pendants with the Viva Decor Silver Pearl Paint Pen.  

Adhere the dress form and poseys to the card front, as shown.

I decided to cut a few more poseys from the Posey Panel and paint the same way as the zipper and dress form.  

Glue these pieces over the posey panel, as shown, for added dimension.

Add some bling to the posey centers, as shown.

Trim one of the less busy patterned papers from the pad to 5-1/4" square.  I chose the wood grain paper for the inside of my card, and computer-generated the sentiment "Thanks Sew Much!".

Add a strip of lace along the top edge to finish the card off.

I know we all love those flower filled cards that end up requiring a box to mail them in, if you cannot hand deliver them.  This, to me, is an awfully beautiful alternative while still fitting in an envelope, and may only require a small amount of extra postage.  So, I hope I've inspired you to make some beautiful cards with your laser cut chipboard pieces, and like I said, they are fabulous on your scrapbook layouts and in your mixed media projects.

A little flower power.

I felt the need to make something cheerful and bright for my post for Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts for today. I suppose everyone knows how much I love playing with house shapes, so it's no surprise that I picked the House Room Box Four Cubbies!
My inspiration came from handling the pretty and delicate Posey Panel. I decided that I wanted to fill the house with pretty, cheerful flowers.
And here it is.

I love the bright magenta, purple, orange and teal on the vivid green house!
Here is where I began....

I assembled and glued my little House Room Box together.

I gave the inside of the House and the Posey Panel a good coat of white paint.

I cut and glued this pretty green paper on the roof and the outside of the house, covering the sides, back and bottom.

Using a hand drill, I put a hole in the center of the ridge vent on the roof of the house and set it aside.

After the paint dried on the Posey Panel, I cut each flower out and glued them on cloth covered florist wire. You can use any wire you have on hand...I used this because I had it and it's green.
I patched up the backs where needed with white paint.......

And went to town with color. After the first coat dried, I added detail with little dots of white (I used a Sharpie Poster Pen in white) and then with a bit of glue, added a couple of pretty beads to the flower stems. If you add leaves, be sure and glue them fairly high up (I glued mine to the back of the beads).

I bent the wires 90 degrees from the flower and cut them to a little less than an inch so that my flowers would fit into the house and sit just inside, but not on the edge.
In oder for them to be easily glued in place, I cut some leaf shapes from the green paper and glued them to the bent part of the 'flower stem'.

I then glued the whole thing into the cubbie.

I chose three of the larger flowers and glued them into the hole I drilled in my roof. After they dried completely, using wire cutters, I cut off the stems that were showing in the little attic.
I added some moss around the flowers at the top and in the attic. I nestled two sweet little birds in....one on top with the flowers and the other in the attic (These were beads I found in a string at the craft store). I added some leaves and a flower to the attic space to tie it in to the rest of the house.

As a final touch to the front of the house, I painted and glued on this cute little Petal Corners to the gable.

I added a flower and a Petal corner to the back of the house and some little dots for detail.
Make sure you paint the backs of your flowers as they show when you turn your house around!

Pretty Purple Posey Card

Happy Wednesday everyone, I can't quite believe that May has arrived! 

It's Ann here today, and I am sharing this pretty purple posey card I created in preparation for the upcoming holiday, Mother's Day. 

The moment I first saw this Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Posey Panel (coming soon), I just knew that it would be perfect for an extra special card. I love all the varied flower shapes, some being fairly bold, while others are so delicate and fragile. The panel arrives in one piece, I carefully remove it from the package and decide on my color theme.

Using a sponge dauber, I paint the panel with DecoArt purple acrylic paint. Once the paint is dry, I dab some Distress Oxide in seedless preserves around the panel to add some interest and highlights while still retaining an overall appearance. I plan to add three dimensional flowers on top of the panel and feel that the panel will stand out better as a whole rather than coloring the individual flowers and minimizing the impact.

I set the panel aside and begin selecting papers for the base of the card. I select papers in shades of purples and orange, and then configure my layout. I cut out the various layers I will be using; then ink around the edges of the paper with distress inks. These layers are adhered to an 8-1/2" square base panel of solid purple cardstock.

Once the base layers are secure, I adhere the posey panel to the orange square using a multipurpose glue, and set this entire piece aside. Then using various flower dies, I cut different flower pieces from coordinating patterned papers as well as pieces of papers that I have inked.  These pieces are layered and formed into flowers. I use colored mini brads to secure the flower layers together. I also die cut a label shape, large flower layer, and a circle that will contain the letters M O M. I tend to die cut more pieces than I need,  just incase I am unhappy with the way something works or decide to use more than I originally plan. Any extra pieces are stuck into an envelope with similar shapes and saved for use on other projects.

When all of the flowers have been made, I begin to "audition" flowers and final layout schemes. I really want to bring some bright pink and purple to the card, so I color some crinkle ribbon with the seedless preserves distress oxide ink. This will be used to create a fluffy bow.

All of the card elements are adhered onto the base pieces, and the panel is attached to a heavyweight 8-1/2" square card base, ready for writing a personal message inside.

I think that this posey panel would be a perfect addition to a card for any occasion, or I can see it being used on the cover of a journal or even clipped apart and used in various pieces for embellishments, it's truly beautiful any way you choose to use it.
