St. David's Day

St. David is the Patron Saint of Wales  in the UK and it is on March 1st.
The Welsh flag is a red dragon on a green and white background, and also in the UK we have a different flower that represents each  country  that make up the United Kingdom, the flower for Wales is a Daffodil.
This is the finished product which has quite a few embellishments from Gypsy soul laser cuts.

I began by deciding what to put on the card and selected various embellishments:

These were the lovely ornate frame, which I have already gessoed, a dragon, various flowers
from the flower stackers and I also decided half way through that I would add a label from the stackable label set.

I gessoed all the embellishments and left them to dry, so whilst they were drying I made the daffodils with the use of my Silhouette cutting machine which my daughter (Angela Drummond)had very kindly given to me.

Once the embellishments were dry I decorated the flowers with paper from my stash, the dragon I painted red and the frame I painted yellow (just because I wanted too), then the label I painted red and added letters cut with the Silhouette to read St. Davids Day. Any paint or ink can be used for this, it is really up to you as to which one you prefer.

I embossed some green and white Creative Expressions foundation card with one of my folders (I'm sorry but I don't know whose make it is, but any one that you have got will do)and stuck this to a piece of card again from my stash as it is only to hold the two pieces of card together.

All that was left to do was put the rest of the card together with the addition of some flat back pearls, a dark one for the dragons eye and lighter ones for the middle of the flowers and some red foundation card for a border.

Thank you for taking a look at my card and I hope that you will take a look at the web site www.gslcuts.com for a huge variety of "Goodies" to give you inspiration.

A Steampunk Card for a Friend

I think that I had this ambition to get as much as I could on an 8" x 8" card and with the help of gorgeous  gslcuts embellishments I was able to succeed.

I used an 8" x 8" scalloped card that I had in my stock and cut a piece of creative expressions foundation card in white, slightly smaller than the card, making the curved corners to match.

I used creative expressions gilding polish (colour heather) to cover the whole of the white piece of card, then embossed this with cogs & gears creative embossing folder. After I had embossed it I went over it very lightly with silver dream gilding polish.
Next I chose which embellishments I wanted to use, which were:- gears shape setbutterfly of gears, heart of gears, dragons shape set, hot air balloons net style and word elements 1

I also had some flowers in my stock and thought they would look good too.
I covered all the embellishments in white gesso and let them dry, then coloured them with different coloured distress inks and some with gilding polish.
The colours that I used on the embellishments I also added to the background card using the hot air balloon as a template, but did some "splodges" as well.

I had the flowers in my stash so stuck these in two corners then took the larger embellishments and placed these where I thought they looked good.
Before sticking the heart on I threaded some ribbon around the top and stuck it to the card, and the larger gears set I stuck on myself, however, the small pieces of gears I just put in my hand, held them above the card and let them drop. I stuck them to the card where they had landed so that I didn't end up doing a uniformed pattern.
I added two heart pins from my stash to the top of the butterfly to form antennae, and added the friends word in a frame to the top corner.

A Little Dressmaker

I have got an 8" x 8" card today for any dressmakers out there, gslcuts has a great selection of dress and corset embellishments.

I began by choosing various papers from the Couture Creations paper pad that I have just bought,

and I decided on 4 different papers, plus some of the paper with measurements on it.  I decided on plain brown card to stick the patterned paper onto, using Creative Expressions foundation card (colour chestnut). These I cut to 1, 8x8" , 1, 7 x 5", 2, 4 x 4" and 1, 8 x 21/2" pieces, cutting the patterned pieces slightly smaller to leave a narrow border around each. I also cut one length of tape measure and scissors and cotton reels from another page.

Next I decided on which shapes to use from the GSLcuts dressforms and corset shapes set and covered these in white gesso.

I used some patterned paper from my stock to cover some of them then just used memento stamp ink for the others. I even threaded  cotton through the holes on one of the corset shapes to make it look more authentic as you can see on the finished card.
The designing of the card is up to you really, this was my idea and I also added a stackable labels frame in the top corner.
