Hello.

I love to make bookmarks. They can be a perfect gift for someone who loves reading.

 To create this bookmark I used a tag from set of Chipboard Decorative Tags X Large. 

  

To cover this tag, I used my handmade background.

I've copied the tag's shape twice to cover the back of the tag; then, I cut them. 

I stuck everything together using glue; then, I've applied some golden paste and used a black crayon to contour the edge of this tag.

 

I've decided to add some texture to the tag by using clear gesso and stencil.

When I dried the tag, I've added some glimmer mist sprays and gold paste.

Then I started to add some paper embellishments and phrases I've written and printed from my computer.

 

  

I stuck everything by using glue; then, I've used a black crayon to contour the elements.

I've attached a ribbon.

"Make a Wish" easel card and bookmarker set by Lynne

Hello crafty friends! I recently made an easel card and posted it on my Facebook page, and one of my online friends admired it and said she'd love a card like that for her birthday, which just happened to be coming up soon...I decided to use this gorgeous frame and coordinating goodies to create a unique card for her, then I thought I'd add a bookmark to match (this is being mailed out of the country so I had to keep everything relatively flat)

I started out by cutting a 5 1/2" strip from double-sided patterned paper ( make sure you like both sides unless you don't mind adding panels to the inside!), then I distressed the edges and inked them in charcoal grey.

I scored the rectangle at 6" and at the 3" mark on one side, then folded it in half.

I border punched along the bottom edge and lightly inked the leaves, I added a contrasting piece of paper behind the punchwork, and distressed/inked the edge of that as well.

At one end of the card where the 6" panel is not divided by a fold, I made a raised panel with layers of coordinating papers and some fussy-cut flower. When your easel card is standing, this creates a little ledge for the front to rest on to keep it upright.

I chose this lovely frame set for my card, and a coordinating fairy for the bookmark I created, and primed them all with white gesso before adding white glitter embossing powder. I fit a circle of patterned paper behind the frame, then added to the end of the card with the 3" folds, gluing down only the lower half so that when the card is folded to stand, the top part of the frame will stand above it.

I added a chain with a butterfly charm to the simple bookmark design, and poked the hole with a large pin-I got a bunch of these pins at a thrift store one time, and they come in handy for so many things-holes like this, piercing for handstitching with embroidery floss, cleaning out glue and paint bottle tips, etc.

I added some glittery letters to finish off the sentiment on the front of the card after attaching the "Wish" word piece on top of the frame.

I fussy cut a ton of the pretty flowers from my papers and used them to accent the frame, and I love the soft and feminine combination of colours, flowers and fairies, and hope my friend will too! I'm a bad girl...

Jess here today.

Well, I didn't plan to do two reading themed items this month, but it happened.  I'm a huge reader.  It's not often that I am not in the middle of a book.  Any reader will tell you that they always need bookmarks.  Yes, I've used napkins, receipts, post it notes, and other random bits of paper to mark my pages.  I wanted to make a little something nice to actually mark my page.

I covered one of the Extra Large Chipboard Tags using vintage card catalog cards.  The edges were embossed just to add a little bit extra.

I painted my Medium Circle Border using Distress Paints and glued it on my tag.  

I added the vintage image and verbiage using foam tape.  Since the circles make the background uneven I used different layers of tape to make the image flush.  

Easy and now I can mark my book nicely!

Queen Anne's Lace Wildflower Card

Hello, Friends!  It's Kathy here with my very first post as an official member of the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Design Team.  I've been filling in with guest spots all summer long, and was tickled pink when Gina asked me to become a regular part of the team.  I'm so looking forward to sharing a couple of tutorials with you each month!  Let's kick things off with a dreamy Queen Anne's Lace Wildflower card, shall we?

I have always loved Queen Anne's Lace!  Seeing it bloom along the roadside makes my heart happy!  So I was thrilled to find some in my DT box.  

 

Look how beautiful it is when paired up with Authentique's Harvest paper collection!

Altering the Queen Anne's Lace chippies was fun, quick and easy!  I used a combination of embossing enamels and Distress paints to make it come to life.

 I can't get over the detail in this chipboard!  I added lots of texture and dimension with layered papers, machine stitching, a shabby chic bow and buttons.

 

Since I had an extra piece of altered Queen Anne's Lace left over, I made a little bookmark to tuck into the pocket inside the card.
