I adore you

Hi GSLC Peeps!!!  This month is whizzing by.....are you getting your Valentine cards and gifts done?  I have another fun altered heart today using the wall hanging hearts.  

I started with painting the heart layers in Ballerina pink spray paint and painting the clock pieces green.

 Then I added the vintage heart topper, tag, and a smaller clock on top.

Here it is all done!

Dirty Girl Shrine

Hello crafty friends!  I found a few cool Vargas pin-up girl playing cards recently and couldn't wait to use them.  Luckily the ATC Shrine Box w/Feet is the perfect size for playing cards.  Who knew?!

I started with standard assembly, which for me means making sure I have all the parts going in the right direction before gluing in place.  I learned the hard way.... *ahem*

I suggest you glue  top and bottom first so you can slide walls on.  As you can see in the photos, I put the right side wall on first without thinking ahead about that bottom notch.  It didn't end up being a  hardship, but I did have one of my "Huh... ok" moments.  They are more frequent that I should admit.

Once dry, I slathered the whole box with black gesso.

Gesso dries pretty quickly so I tapped my fingers a few times, or did something equally speedy.  I then measured the exterior and interior paper panels and cut out with a paper cutter.

I needed to tweak this side panel a bit.  There's a joke about measuring twice, cutting once.  Bah, whatever.

Here I have everything cut out.  I inked the edges with black just to get rid of the too-bright white core.

Mod podge it all together!

I've jumped ahead a bit in the photos.  After the mod podge dried I added a layer of lace, then a layer of rhinestones on the inside edges.  Diamonds are a girls best friend, right?

I used black dotted Dresden trim for the front edges and around the frame.  Glossy accents is a good adhesive since it has a small nozzle, but any glue will do.  

After all the trim was placed and the reverse side lettering was attached, I covered it all with a layer of matte varnish to seal and give a nice finish. I used E-6000 to attach the word blocks.

She Flies-mixed media canvas by Lynne

Hello crafters!  I wanted to play around with some girly colours and decided to make a canvas with an empowering sentiment and some gorgeous pieces from the Gypsy Soul Lasercuts store:

I really love the different birds in the set, so I used several of them on my 8" round canvas; I ran them through a peacock feather embossing folder, trying to avoid the eyes and just add lines to the pieces to create some texture.

After choosing my chipboard and other elements I played around with them until I had a basic design-that way I knew where there was white space to add texture paste stenciling and a couple pieces of drywall tape. It wasn't until after I had moved on to the next step that I noticed one of the birds was upside down here! That's one reason why I never glue things down right away....although that's not always a good thing when I finally have everything placed exactly the way I want it, and one of my cats decides it's time to turn my work space into the Indy 500...or into a bed....sigh! Oh well, other than having to turn the bird over, this project went pretty smoothly-no kitty assistance!

After the stenciling was added I glued my arrangement down (and added a few more goodies to the bare spots) then primed the entire surface with white gesso.

I sponge-painted the canvas with pale pink and lavender acrylic paint before misting it with a bit of white all over. 

I then added mist in pink, purple and a smidge of turquoise, then rubbed on some Art Alchemy wax in "Royal Robes".

I was happy with the colours after that, and all I did was rub a little purple ink over the letters and a few raised surfaces with my finger for added definition-hope you like the finished product! I just happened to have a piece of ribbon in my stash that matched the colours exactly, so I added a bow at the bottom, which I thought added a bit of extra texture and interest to the round canvas-thanks so much for stopping by, and may you and your brave wings fly this week and always!!

I Love You Valentine Typewriter

Hey there! It's Ginny here to share a very fun and whimsical Valentine greeting card.

I mean who doesn't like a vintage typewriter? So much better than a text message or email right?

I was lucky to have some patterned paper in my stash that had type keys and the background was red so it was a perfect match! 

This sweet little sentiment was part of that same paper pad from Martha Stewart. The crisp white doily helps to break up the busy patterns.

I chose the flowers and the polka dot ribbon to coordinate.

One more flowers for the top and a tiny little love mail charm.

Last but not least a few blingy pearls.

Finishing this chippie could not have been easier....it's just a metallic paint in graphite. So Simple!

A Tiny Glitter Village

Hi everyone! Are you tired of winter yet? I know I'm looking forward to the daffodils peeking through the snow but that won't be happening for a while. In the meantime, I enjoy having a few winter decorations up for a month or two. We don't have a mantle at our house so I've never really had a place to set up a glitter village but I adore them so decided to make one in miniature using the GSL Tiny Plant Table

This one is so simple to put together, just 5 pieces!

I decided the stand should be white to enhance the snowy scene so gave  each piece a few coats of white acrylic paint on both sides then assembled the piece using tacky glue. 

Using an X-Acto knife I cut tiny house shapes from polymer clay and used a square match to indent windows and doors before baking them off.

I also rolled out some cone tree shapes and dug out my stash of nail art supplies, aka polymer cane flower slices, to give the houses a bit of decoration.  You can find these in nail supply stores and on Amazon. 

After baking, I applied a thin coat of tacky glue on each piece then tossed them into a container of superfine glitter to get them nice and sparkly. When the glue was dry, I added a bit of chunkier crystal glitter onto the rooftops for some sparkly snow.

They were then glued onto the top of my assembled table to form a tiny village.

I wanted to make sure not to get glitter on the sides of the table so I used painter's tape as a barrier before coating the village floor with a thick coating of tacky glue. Then came the fun part.... dumping a LOT of crystal glitter to make a thick blanket of snow!

To finish the look, I used some of the GSL Snowflake Shape Set Minis as a decoration. I got white acrylic paint into the little crevasses using a soft bristled brush.

When the paint was dry, I applied a thin coat of white glue and tossed them into the same superfine glitter to give them some sparkle.

I glued them onto the front of the winter scene and finished it off with a bit of blue bling. 

Once it's fully dry, tap off the excess glitter and enjoy your winter wonderland!
