Art Girl Banner

A great way to start off the new year! A fun, easy project that looks great and declares your love of art to the universe.
Or maybe just to your cat.
No matter, let it bring a smile to your face each time you look at your project!

I started out with the Banner Builder Dovetail Set. It comes in a set of four, so you will need two sets.
I painted the back scalloped edge pieces black, front and back.
I used one of the top pieces as a template and cut all of my background papers.

I painted the Flower Stackers and the One Inch Scallop Punch Elements white.
I actually used three sets of the Flower Stackers because I wanted eight large flowers for the tops of my banner pieces, but you can use any size flowers you choose.

I glued the background papers to the top layer of the banner pieces and set them aside to dry.
I then glued them on to the scalloped black painted bottom layer of the banner pieces.
Next, I cut a green sheet of scrapbook paper into seven 2 3/4 inch squares and a creamy yellow sheet into seven squares that measured 2 inches.
I played around with some lettering on graph paper and then hand-lettered each yellow 2 inch square with A R T G I R L.....

 After they dried, I glued them on to the green 2 3/4 inch squares, let them dry and then attached them to the banner pieces, making sure each one is centered consistently with the others.
When all was dry, I stacked and glued my flowers on at the top center of each banner piece.
I cut out lots of butterflies and a couple of bugs and attached them to each piece as I saw fit.
I added white paint dot around the edge of the black scalloped pieces and around the lettering to make it pop.
And of course, a little bit of glitter....

A little hot glue attaches the velvet ribbon to the back and it's ready to go!

Vintage Easter Banner by Lynne

hi there...spring is just around the corner and so is Easter! I'm going to decorate a bit for Easter this year as my "baby" (22-year old daughter) is back home after over 3 years of living out west, and that makes me feel much more festive....in fact I will be hiding an Easter basket for her like I did every year up until she left home!

I had some adorable vintage images in my stash and used them as a theme for my banner, and I have been eyeing the cute chippie eggs for a while trying to decide how I wanted to use them. 

I covered four of the banner pieces with corrugate and inked the edges with a deep brown

.I cut the coloured banners just a tad smaller and distressed and inked those edges as well, then attached the images to those.

The eggs were painted with brown acrylic paint, then coated with FolkArt Crackle medium. When the medium was dry I painted them with pastel acrylics, then rubbed them with the stain to create an aged look. I added a layer of clear embossing powder afterwards. 

The flowers were made with the Martha Stewart hydrangea punch, although I added an extra layer of the larger size. These too were inked in brown, then put together with small brads. The foliage was made with the Martha Stewart branch punch.

The small embellishments on the upper right of each banner were covered with patterned paper, then sanded and inked. I attached them with foam adhesive for a bit of added dimension.

The banner was put together with jute. To fit the jute through the small holes in some of the eggs, I dipped the end of the jute into hot wax and then squeezed it together with my fingers. It worked really well. I used hot glue to seal the knots when I tied the pieces together.

Happy Dad's Day Card by Pam Bray

Hi Gypsy Soul Lasercuts Fans!!! It is Pam here today sharing with you my Happy Dad's Day Card using some of Gypsy Soul Lasercuts fabulous chippies along with Graphic 45 Vintage Hollywood Collection.

I created my card by scoring a piece of 12" x 8" Kraft card stock to measure 6" x 8" when folded. Cut pattern paper to fit the front; emboss. Distress top and edges with distress tools. Ink edges. Adhere to front of card. Adhere pattern paper to top of one of the banners from the Banner Build Dovetail Set. Distress and ink edges.

Stamp prepared banner from the Banner Build Dovetail Set using stamp and black ink.

Adhere prepared banner to front of card. Add Vintage Hollywood Journal Epherema Card to front if card once it is distressed and inked. Add one of the frames from the Filigree Frames Shape Set to the front of card.

Add fussy cut flowers to top of frame.

Add letters.

Fussy cut second set of flowers; add to top of first with pop dots.

Decorated inside of card.
