Dolores Umbridge's Office Cupboard

Happy Saturday, everyone! Connie here to share a Harry Potter inspired project. I made an office cupboard for one of the series' great villains - Hogwarts Headmistress Dolores Umbridge, lover of cats and all things pink. Let me walk you through how it came together.
I started with a GSL 3 Panel Hutch. As with every assembly, I start by laying out all the pieces to see how everything comes together. This makes getting it together a snap. This piece comes with 3 lighter weight chipboard drawers that I set aside as I knew I wanted open cubbies for this project.
Here's the top of the hutch freshly glued.
From here, I painted the individual pieces in a pale pink that reminds me of Pepto Bismol. I was reluctant at first to paint the entire piece this color but then thought what would Dolores want and that settled it. I painted the lower hutch shelves prior to gluing them in place since the assembled spaces are pretty tight.
Here's the hutch assembled and waiting for the glue to dry. I selected a cheerful pink floral paper from Graphic 45's Garden Goddess collection.
The hutch needs something to rest on and I had a dollhouse table from the dollar store in my stash that fit it perfectly.  It also got the pink treatment.
The cat china was fun to make. I printed kitten and doily images then glued those onto dollhouse porcelain plates.
Aren't they cute? After those were secured, I glued the arched front of the hutch in place.
Here's a close up of the Slytherin brooch made from a sparkly green brad and a small Slytherin sticker.  Dolores is, of course, a Slytherin.
Finishing touches include a porcelain cat, a little pink tea set, some educational decrees ready to be hung in the halls of Hogwarts, scrolls, and a Dark Magic book that was made by gluing a cover onto a dollhouse miniature book. Her torturous black quill pen that writes with the blood of the person using it was made from a small chicken feather.
 Thanks for stopping by!
