Hybrid . . . ?

What to call this project?
It's a marriage between a mini-book and a junk journal
so does that make it a
HYBRID?

Not sure but it was fun making it!

It started with me taking out all my scraps
and then choosing an album to work with
&
for the cover.

I chose these 2 chipboard pieces:

and

Step 1: I stained the Floral Lace Panel with
Picket Fence Distress Stain
and let dry.

Step 2: To get a vintage look,
use a brush and pounce on
Distress Texture Paste in Crackle.
Let dry.

When dry, it looks like this:

I wanted to stain it and had some empty bottles of
Distress Reinker.
Save those empty bottles,
add a tiny bit of water to the bottle,
pour out onto your craft mat and you have stain.

Step 3: Vintage Photo on top of the crackle
was applied with a soft brush.

Step 4: Add other colors if you wish to give the piece more depth.
I used some shades of green + Van Dyke Brown

Experiment with your favorite colors.
I stopped once I got to this color:

Needing something for the spine of the book,
I chose to use the larger of the three

I did cut it down to fit the spine a bit as it was too wide.
I'll save the extra piece and use it on a page.

Then the painting began:

Step 1:  Beginning with the leaves
and wanting texture
I used two shades of Prima's Rust Effect Paste.

Step 2: Add the green to the vine
and rust to the pole,
again using a bit of watered down Vintage Photo reinker
for shadows on the pole.

Then all the
Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts were applied to the book.

The Floral Lace Panel
was cut into two pieces so I could apply a small piece
at the top of the book cover
and a larger piece on the left side.

I found this paper in my stash of leftovers.
The main paper had the word
ANTIQUES
printed on it so I had to use it.
And the Prima image on watercolor paper
is one of my favorites.
It is pre-printed in shades of gray.
I added watercolors to the image.

Hope you enjoyed my combination mini album/junk journal.
I'm planning a video walk through soon.
Check my You Tube Channel for the inside of the book.

Here's a list of the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts used for this project:

In the meantime, thanks for reading this post.
See you again soon.
