Halloween House in a Box . . .

Hi Everyone. This adorable Halloween project will soon be a class in St. Louis MO. With chipboard designed by Gina, the owner of Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts, it's sure to be a hit.

The box stands 9" tall and 5.5" wide with a witch weathervane on top that is 5" tall. The weathervane was specifically designed for this project. But it will soon be in the store just for you! I love it to pieces.

Let's get started. First, using either black acrylic paint or a thick black Sharpie, paint the edges of each piece, avoiding the notches. If the notches get wet, they could expand and it will be difficult to put the pieces together.

Next, choose the 4 thin pieces and the largest square. Those pieces will make up the box lid.

Matching notches to slots, adhere the thin side pieces perpendicular to the large square piece. Once put together, it should look like this:

Using black acrylic paint or a Sharpie, paint the inside edges.

Next, put the box together in the same manner as the lid. The bottom square of the box is slightly smaller than the lid top. This photo shows 3 sides of the box put together. Once I have 3 sides put together, I paint the inside black (it's easier to get to with the 4th side missing), then add the 4th side.

Now the fun begins . . . decorating!  I used Authentique's Halloween paper to decorate the outside.

The weathervane was painted with black acrylic. I then used Orange Sparkle & Sprinkle Embossing Powder for the letters and the arrow.

There's a book inside! These 8 houses come with the box! You can decorate each separately or create hinges to put them together accordion style.

To create hinges, I cut paper 11.5" x 1.25".  Score on the 1.25" side at 1" and 1.25". This will create a 1/4" seam.

Cut the hinges the height needed for each house and attach to each chipboard house with double-sided tape.

Decorate to your heart's content.

For the book cover, I used Victorian Corners 2 for the roof top and embossed it with bronze embossing powder. The center piece is called Haunted House Oval (D12K) a new one for Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts (coming soon). Love the silhouette against the orange polka dot. I only adhered it at the bottom to allow a photo to slip behind it.

Another adorable piece created for this project (and coming soon to the GSLCUTS.com store). It's signage with scarecrows. This, too, was adhered only at the bottom so that I could add photo mats that could be pulled out from behind the sign.

I can't wait for this class! It was designed for a private party class taking place in St. Charles MO but I'll also be bringing it to my LSS in Kirkwood MO.

Thanks for visiting and hope to see you soon.
